L didn't have to tell him his plan and that his plan worked either.

It’s so crazy to me. He would rather be on his own son who he just found out, was alive after getting him killed by the way because let’s be honest. The reason Jason died was because of Batman then simply I don’t know paralyzing the joker or making him blind or mentally handicapped

The game would have just changed to be more subversive in nature. L's next step if this failed would have likely been to withhold info on criminals, in an attempt to either see if the killings stopped, or if "Kira" would start acting erratically.

I think Light had to be like that for the story to work out. His entire goal was based in narcissism so L challenging him like that was good bait because even if he predicted it was to draw him out, then he may have still killed him just to rub it in L's face.

My favorite part is undoubtedly that Thawne getting Iris preggers would be 100% in character.

I mean... He literally missed out one crucial part of the note for the whole story. "You can write down the name, date and how the person dies. If no reason is given then they die of hearthattack and if no time is given they die after the writing is done into the notebook." He could have done something like: The guy on the podium trips while walking down from there and breaks his neck. Done. Or anything really lol

You not being able to properly pronounce the word "thawne" ruined this for me.

The thing about Death Note is, if Kira didn't fought against the police, he wouldn't have been caught, and wouldn't even been pursued since at that point the fact that Kira was a person wasn't proved. Light ideals would been successfully accomplished if he didn't had that stupid egocentric personality that apparently he doesn't have when he loses the memories of death note.

The thing about Deathnote that I don't think enough people realize is that Light is really not actually that smart. He gets good grades sure I'm not calling him an absolute moron or anything. But people act as if Light and L are these intellectual giants that are evenly matched for each other when they're really not. The thing is that Light has a *massive* advantage over L. It's like the two are playing chess, but L literally doesn't know what any of the pieces do until he can witness Light move one of them. Giving Light a constant advantage in tempo as he can theoretically always stay one step ahead. And if you look throughout the series he makes so many absolutely moronic decisions either due to his impulsiveness or his ego. Like killing Taylor is one thing, but there's other factors like how he only killed people within a certain time frame which is how L was able to deduce what time zone he was in and what age group he likely was even before the Lind L Taylor incident. And of course the moron then immediately changes up his schedule to killing people every hour on the hour as soon as he finds out the police know this information, which told L that A) Light has access to police records and B) that Kira can kill anyone at any time and so on. It's absolutely true that a smart user of the deathnote could basically get away scott free for years without even raising any alarm bells. That's implied to be what's happened with all the prior times a Deathnote falls into the human world. But Light was absolutely not a smart user of the deathnote. And I think that even if he restrained himself from killing the decoy, he already gave L a lot of information due to the patterns of his killings and would likely fall into many of the dozens of other pitfalls that he fell into in the main series. Maybe L would have to be a bit more underhanded, use some more subtle decoys, but L could absolutely still outplay Kira I think.

Actually this is all Light needed to avoid L, because L would have played that broadcast in other parts of Japan, right? L's goal was to narrow down Kira's general location. If Light had waited a few days or a week and killed the fake L afterwards (he'd somehow have to know where he's broadcasting and if he's using the same person as bait, yes) then L's whole operation gets fucked over and he spends all his time in a wild goose chase in the wrong place, while Light is left to do whatever he wants.

It would only give L more work to do, since the objective of the fake world broadcast was only to restrict the area of search. L still know that Kira is a schoolage person from Japan (initially the deaths wore from Japanese criminals only) with access to the police database

I still say that this was the moment Light lost. He abandoned the only morals he had for using the death note by episode 2. And this alone was enough for the FBI to start tailing him, causing him to need to kill many other innocent lives to stay Kira

wouldn't it be better if bruce just admitted that he's afraid that he would turn into the thing that killed his parents? a killer. not a psychopathic killer with no restrain but someone who took a life in general. even if it was just once he'd be a killer forever. and why he doesn't want for jason to kill joker is less to do with the joker but more with letting his son becoming more and more of a killer. i mean not that it'd change but i think it'll make more sense for bruce

L was smart enough to eventually come up with something so subtle that he would figure out Kira was in Japan. It would just have taken him longer.

The second Kira decided to kill a cop I was very disappointed. Kira stopped being a complex character. It took a lot of convincing to get back to watching the show after this. Great series. Still disappointed in Kira.

But we all know that was kind of the point of the Trap and they gave a good character for shadowing towards light he got humble and was a lot smarter and how he handled things but this type of behavior would come back to haunt him later on in the game namely ironically after he killed L as Near and Mello showed. There's a reason why no matter how smart you are human flaw is always something that could creep up on you in the end😊 Light cannot predict the future and for all intent purposes there was no way for him to have predicted that my baby boy was able to find the death row inmate that had such a name and he was doing this entire plan on a bet that light would take the bait in a funny way this came back to haunt him because all of this eventually led him to looking for proxies and as Misa showed then she would proxies is you cannot predict what they will do it's what led to his final defeat after all he had no way of knowing Mikami wouldn't have done the same thing he had planned to do which exposed the Death Note and allow Near switcheroo but even he admitted that if not for Mello last spiteful move towards light the circumstances would not have shown themselves and the final confronting would have ended with lights victory I do love these type of what ifs because they're actually pretty good what ifs that do make sense like this entire plan counted on light getting arrogant if you had kept his cool and not let himself get baited there are many things that could have happened the action wasn't just that my baby boy now knew where light may have been located what was the get of 100% confirmation that yes he did have the ability to kill someone from afar and that he needed a name and the face this was his major defense and why light had to go through so much just to get that opportunity to finally kill him the man that my baby boy L make him work for it And of course what if Mikami had been a bit more precautious and that he used a fake note to cover up the one that was locked away then the switcheroo would have been a failure because they took the wrong note everything counted on chance and people making slip-ups and I would love to look at those type of scenarios no need to make them a long-ass series they could be interesting short stories😊

It's kind of interesting that they both kind of make the same mistake here. Light made a tactical blunder by being baited into killing Lind and exposing where in the world he was geographically. But L, rather than stopping things there, came out and taunted Kira. There was some gain to this if I remember right, as it showed that Kira couldn't strike down someone anonymous like him. But it also put Light on guard, made him realize he had a crafty archnemesis coming for him. Where as otherwise Light might have been more complacent as L closed in on him. But then they would be much less interesting characters if they never made any mistakes and had no personality flaws.

Thinking about it now, Light could have gotten away with it if he didn't let his emotions take control and killed anyone who provoked him.
