Gotta love a 289

Most of the cars in my HS parking lot sounded like this one. 1968 thru 1972 were the best time to own a car. It was either a VW Beatle, Corvair, a beater, or a hot number like this Fairlane. I really feel sorry for today's generation. They have computerized cars and turbocharged vehicles BUT they don't have the feel of raw power under them. No replacement for displacement. I'll take a 289 Hi Po or a 327, or a 340 , or 304 any day over the stuff on the streets today.

There is one coming up for auction at a farm near me but I have a 454 IH and the hydraulics are the Pitts and the parking brake is junk the worst thing they did was the hydraulic steering and brakes you loose one you have lost both

Nice power plant...I've got a 2001 7.tree f2shity with over 780 thousand miles. All original Michigan truck works construction and plowed every winter of its life...still stroking and purrs like a kitten 😸... 13 letter shitspreader INTERNATIONAL best diesel ever made. Been driving it for 22 years now and wouldn't trade it for a rocket ship

Nice. I had a similar car in 1977. Bought from original owner a 1967 Fairlane non XL with 289 & factory bench seat 4 speed combo. Not real fast, but a classic fun family car.

Nice ride... I had a 67 Fairlane back in the day, when I got it was the body only...no motor/trans but we found a potent 351 Cleveland backed with a C6 to drop in and what a blast it was to drive. Miss the day's when you can pick up a car like this for grand or two...

Had this same car when 17. ……bench seat 4 speed stock houndstooth fabric seats and very basic. A bit of a slug with the 289 but fun to drive with the manual trans. Drove from Vancouver to Yellowknife in it in 1977. Dark metallic green & it looked unassuming. Heater core failure the whole time so it was a very cool trip, but managed.

Still have my Dads 230 he bought new,he talked them into putting a 245 seat on it when he bought it around 1980!
