Speak Better French TODAY... @frenchlisteningjourney
Here's the channel in the video - check them out! @frenchlisteningjourney
Hi, I'm Rory. I lead serious French learners beyond the frustration of boring and ineffective grammar lessons, helping them confidently achieve all of their goals.
- Have you been trying to learn French via unproductive methods, such as grammar rules, private tutoring or language apps?
- Are you annoyed you have not progressed with confidence towards your goals?
- Are you ready to finally achieve your goals via a new learning method you have not tried before?
If so, go through my videos and see how I learned French in 12 months, and how I am working with my Students 1-on-1 to do the same.
Once you have done so, you can book in an Application Call with me to see if you qualify to work with me 1-on-1.
Note - I have a small, select number of Students. I will only consider your application if I can see that your are truly serious about achieving your French goals, and you are prepared to financially commit to achieving them. I make free videos here on UA-cam, however teaming up with me 1-on-1 is exclusive and only for those who are the most dedicated to their success.
You will have noticed that I am a French "Coach" and not a "Tutor" or "Teacher". This is as, I cannot "teach" you French if you do not commit to doing the appropriate work. If you are not a hard worker and you are not serious about learning French, please do not book a call as you will be wasting both of our time.

--- More about me ---
I begun learning French in late 2019/early 2020, right as Covid 19 began. Living in Melbourne, Australia, we were required to stay at home for months by the government in "confinement". I had always wanted to learn a second language, even after previous bad experiences at High School with Japanese & Italian, so now was the perfect time. I had lots of free time and I couldn't leave my house! I decided to learn French as it was very mysterious to me.
I didn't know much about France, but I knew all of the stereotypes. Men with moustaches, baguettes, croissants and much more! Once I begun learning however I quickly realised how much I enjoyed immersing myself in a culture, so far, yet so close to my own. Frustrated by the traditional and out-dated learning methods school and private tutoring pushes, I was keen to learn via a new method - conversations and stories. Learning "naturally" and allowing the French to come to me made so much more sense than forcing myself to memorise boring grammar rules, or require myself to speak when I didn't have confidence to do so! I learned things I never thought I would, and it has provided me with a new-found self-belief that I am capable of learning anything in the world if I commit to my goals. I want you to experience the same.
My channel is here to provide you with the knowledge you need to learn "real life" French, nothing more.
My channel is NOT here to teach you grammar rules so you can pass a language exam and then forget about French.
I hope you find value in the knowledge and experience I share with you.
I have a small following here on UA-cam & Instagram, and I want to keep it that way. I prefer to have 1,000 passionate French learners that find true value in the knowledge and experience that I share, instead of 1,000,000 "spectators", who just watch my videos for entertainment.
Remember that if you really want to achieve something, all problems become opportunities.
Think about that.

    Hello, I am an Arab and I want to learn French, but I am worried about pronunciation. I find it difficult to pronounce French letters, such as the letter “ra.” I also find it difficult to read in French because there are letters that are written but not pronounced, but I want to learn them. Do you think things will be okay in the future or not? I feel a little sad 🥲🥲

      Good question! Yes, the "r" sound in French does not exist in Arabic, so it is something you will have to learn. But, the "r" sound also does not exist in English, so it is was something I had to learn also. If you have a strong reason to learn French, you will succeed. French has unique sounds that both Arabic and English do not have. This will not stop you from learning French though. If you dedicate 30-60 minutes a day to learning French like I show in my videos you can build a really strong level in just a few months, Did you have any other questions?

    I don't really agree... When you learn an additional language, it is efficient to learn the grammar rules to be able to tell if a sentence is correct or not. The alternative is to "just know it", like you do in your native language. That requires a huge amount of exposure that you are unlikely to build up in another language.

    • @FrenchCoach
      @FrenchCoach 3 дні тому

      Thanks for commenting Andrea - if you have had a positive experience learning French via memorising grammar, please let me know how. For my students, they are having amazing results literally ignoring grammar since they don't need to pass an exam, they want to speak good French. When you are reading this sentence here I know you have not thought of a single English grammar rule. Instead you simply understand what I am saying since you already know the English sentences and phrases. Learning the structure comes automatically when we stop trying to memorise and simply focus on understanding conversations and stories.

    Hi Rory. Question for you. I have been learning French for about 2 years now. I have a relatively large vocabulary; hard to say precisely of course but at the very least 1,000 words, possibly closer to 2,000? Anyway, with that in mind, would it be better for me to start Assimil with 'Using French' versus 'with Ease'? Or would you recommend still starting with 'with Ease'? Merci.

    Productive video! The book by Yuriy Ivantsiv “ Polyglot Notes. Practical Tips for Learning Foreign Language” had a profound impact on me, opening new horizons of understanding the diversity of languages and cultures. The author's ideas that learning foreign languages not only broadens one's horizons but also contributes to spiritual development became a real revelation for me. I realized that every language is not just a system of signs, but a whole world with its history, traditions and way of life. Thanks to this book, I learned to see language learning as a path to self-discovery and a deeper understanding of others, which in turn enriched my worldview. Inspired by Ivantsiv's approach, I became more conscious of my learning, integrating the author's practical advice into my daily life. This opened up opportunities for me not only to improve my language skills, but also to develop a personal philosophy based on mutual understanding and empathy. Immersing myself in languages has allowed me to see the world from different angles and realize the importance of cultural exchange, which has been the foundation for my spiritual growth. Reading this book and applying its advice has helped me to become a more open and tolerant person who seeks harmony in my relationships with others.

    24:40 - I completely understand where Larry is coming from here. "Oh tu sais c'était bien différent de maintenant" for example. I used to have to translate it as I read it. I would read the french, but the voice in my head would say, "Oh you know that it was well different from now"... I would be translating in my head, and understanding the English (without needed to check the English). While reading, it wasn't a problem, but listening (because it's so much faster and I didn't have time to translate in my head...), I needed to just understand the French.. The thing that has made this easier for me, is to listen to French again and again and again... Eventually, I listen and I think to myself, "Oh, they must be using a lot of English words (Ie words used in both languages eg musique / minute / etc) but often it's all French, I am just understanding the language at a deeper level... But for me this has only come after "hours of listening". I'm still only intermediate (there is so much I don't understand), but now I hear French without translating..

    • @FrenchCoach

      yeah absolutely. thanks for sharing Nick. Listening is harder than reading, simply because it's hard to measure how "good" you are at it. If you follow a good, solid learning plan daily, there is no way you can fail.

      honestly John, if your ONLY goal is to pass the TEF exam, other UA-cam channels will give you better tips. My channel is focused 100% on learning useful French to communicate with French people as soon as possible. "Real life" French - not "Exam" French.

    If you have real A1 level in language, you can understand that your level in that language is very poor compared to native speaker. Doulingo is for those who don't have A1 level. These levels don't work without understanding the sound of your target language, whatever it is. Doulingo works with translation, probably too much accent on many repetitions of the same sentences, but without language to try to use in the enviroment of the language will be better to have these few sentences than too much information that may not work... if your students gonna try to use their French in France. I have enough in English-speaking country with phrase "I have problem and I need something" + understanding this language when was given answer to my phrase. What your students may be do in France if they don't understand French , I dunno..

    💯 correct. Problem with Duolingo is that it gives the illusion that you're doing better than you think you are. I use it not to learn french, but to remind me to study (also the motivation to continue my streak fuels my desire to study, when I can't be bothered).. it's basically an alarm clock and reminder to do some every day. This is because of the streak. But it's comparable to playing any mobile game. Spend 30mins on it every day, then I switch to comprehensible input methods (French movies, TV show & podcasts). This is where I learn. But without my "alarm clock" I forget to do my study.

      @FrenchCoach 26 днів тому

      @@nickblooruk good way to use it Nick. I haven’t heard of the “alarm clock” method before! It is an extremely addictive app for sure. French movies and tv shows are amazing to learn with. A few of my Students are very close to being able to watch them and they are super excited. Just a couple more weeks and they will be ready 💪

      @@FrenchCoach Yep... For me, motivation is a big problem. A passion for the language can get you started, but you need to do some study every day. After a few weeks / months, my passion to learn "may dwindle"... Sometimes I really can't be bothered to study... But I will jump on Duolingo - purely to keep my streak... By the end, it puts me "back in the mood" to study.. At very least I will listen to something and go for a walk. (I copied the audio from the movie "Layer cake" so often listen to this (in French obviously). Because I know this film so well, I can mentally picture the scenes that are being referred to, and know what's going to be said before I hear it (in French)....
