bro i feel the same way i started playing about 4 years ago just before i moved from new york to hong kong and i was lonely. I played guitar to myself trying to improvise and with enough practice i got it. I can do exactly what you do i feel it.
Totally! Improvising this way feels a bit unreal because it’s difficult to share with others, no one really sees it. And loneliness yeah… I’ve just added a link in the description of a video I made for “fun” about that emotion. You might resonate with some of that.
Thank you Tibo...
As I watch your videos I feel like I can actually notice your specific playing style, at least from the improvisation videos from you that I have watched Always sounds amazing, and I love your commentary, it's very inspirational.
Thanks for that amazing comment! It’s difficult to describe and it’s difficult to talk about, which makes it difficult for everyone to understand what Free Improvisation is about. I’m happy to hear that you resonate with the words AND the music too.
This sounds quite complex even tho only one hand is playing showing amazing, inventive variety. Fabulous tibo!
Yes definitely! This right hand “inventive variety” is MY personal touch. The idea I’m trying to convey is that one should focus on developing THEIR OWN “inventive variety”(I like that concept 😁) Copying the patterns I play, would get you stuck in overwhelming complexity. On the other hand, if you focus on having fun with simplicity for a while, you’ll eventually start developing your own unique voice and very complex patterns that even I would not be able to reproduce with the same flow. Hope it makes sense to you, I’m writing this a bit too early in the day
Ha!, fun n relaxing to listen. Will give it a go.
If it sounds good without chords, it’ll sounds amazing with them Have fun and thank you Julia!
Great thankyou..
Finally sat down in nature and played this. Very relax ing
Oh really?! Amazing that you did! It does feel quite different to play outside vs inside, where you are really affect how you feel… and that’s exactly why playing outside your comfort zone is so “interesting”. I wonder how it went for you.
@@TiBO_Uke im just loving these simple little "pieces".. yesterday i was very tired. So i reached out for my uken lay on couch just picking the notes.. itgot me offthe couch and i started practising. Keep going.. this is wonderful..
Thank you for this peaceful meditative practice. Brilliant.
I’m happy you enjoyed it because creating it was a lot of fun for me as well! It doesn’t seem to find many viewers but it eventually will once the word spreads on how powerful of a practice it actually is for both Learning and Relaxation 😁
Wow. So well said. I was drawn to ukulele with intention and desire to play and create my own meditation music but in the process of learning got so caught up with learning other songs and techniques. I appreciate this BEAUTIFUL reminder to let loose, express, and create for self. Thank you ✨🌻
Surrounded by covers, I decided to stop replicating others' music a while ago. Now, I play the guitar in my own tuning and compose my own melodies. It's far more gratifying. After all, constantly imitating others doesn't allow my personality to shine through. Thank you for the excellent ukulele instruction.
Qulaity video. This is why youtube exists.
First video i get from the algo from this channel... To be honest cought me off guard... Wich is an awesome sign, these days, making some kinda of a pit stop to see, in some way, someone already there... Sharing... Caring... Ty for rising every one with your vibes...
Oh wow! I wondered about that indeed, as I recorded and edited this video I kept in mind that this wasn't a very "2024 UA-cam friendly video", but it felt right to share a more human side and not just soul less tutorials. Big thanks for that comment, I'm happy to see that this style of video still finds and connects people
Bravo 👏🏽, can you do tutorial please? if you can.
Thank you for this opportunity to learn 🎉.
Always a pleasure to see that it resonates with others 😁
Your finger style picking is beautiful. I hope to use this airy gentle style more in my guitar playing. I am now also FOR SURE getting a Ukelele soon! please keep making vids :)
Great! Indeed I could see from the video statistics that a lot of my audience is also watching guitar content (and sometimes piano too). The Ukulele is a gateway to better emotional expression through music, let me know how the transition feels, I might be able to help
TiBO I love you videos picking is my go to relaxation but rhythm is not some guidelines to set for myself would be good kim
Such a good and important question, I used to have horrible rhythm until recently so I have a lot to say. I wrote it down and will answer eventually in video.
Hi Tibo..i so want to learn how to improvise..for my on joy. Iv bnplaying uke since Fb and i just cant get enough of it i love i so much.i feel i need to understand music theory better... please keep sharing..im always waiting for your videos..
I'm trying to find time to post more, my life is much more stable now. I'll do my best to post a video per week. I'll eventually release a long & detailed video about how to approach Music Theory for Ukulele Improvisation specifically. Thanks so much for your support Julia
@@TiBO_Uke we are all helping each other... thanks Tibo..your plan sounds great!
If you can give tips on how to approach finger picking for playing tabs after listening to any music. I am willing to learn fro you, how you play hat free style ukulele?
Thanks for the question, what you're referring to is "playing songs by ear". My style is indeed more "free" in that it's not about reproducing but creating. I'll definitely want to cover that in a video because many people asked me this already
@@TiBO_Uke No, I meant I also support independent style. Not restricted to any particular song or music. My approach is to learn to play fingerstyle ukulele with different patterns. I am trying but failing to it. I hope I am making sense. I am willing to know your approach. It is not only about playing chords but also to create some music. How do you do that? so relaxed.
Ok yes I understand now! I’ll record more videos where I talk freely about my own journey and I’ll keep your comment in mind. I can’t promise to give you the tools in just one video but it should definitely help answering the How’s and Why’s
For me, You have been amazing. Initially, I was very hesitant to express myself freely by playing ukulele in public. Which is still I am. But, after joining in your channel, I got that confidence to improvize and it definitely helped. All you need is just a basic knowledge of chords. Ukulele is a beautiful instrument. I was in long time online search for some guidance or clue on how to continue my ukulele journey. I guess, your content is with me now. Good luck for your musical journey.
Amazing to read that! I used to fear sharing my music too. It's easy to feel pressure from expectations, but confidence comes when you let go and just enjoy expressing yourself, including all the imperfections 😁. You're on the right path!
I love to see videos like this, it just feels like a having again a conversation with you in front of a tent in nature, bisous!
Thank you so much. This is just what I’ve been wanting to do!!!
Music is the key to a healthier, happier life. Give every person a ukelele and the earth will be a better place! I send you strength and love and wish for you and this channel that it describes the NEW. Music can work differently and you show it!!! Thank you for your being and work. Kind regards huepfendAflOw
These words are resonating a lot with me, thanks a lot for sharing these thoughts! We'll keep exploring together!
Peaceful like a meditation. Thank you, Tibo.
Interesting observation because that's how I use it for. This kind of Meditative Music is amazing for day dreaming and reflecting. Very Slow, Very Humble
Lovely. A big thank you, Tibo.
You're very welcome Mike! Thanks for your comments
Damn I wish I understood this but I'm a total newb.
Take it slowly! Learn & Practice in chunks everyday and you'll get there much faster than you think. I also started as a total newb 4 years ago 😁
I love doing this kind ofsimple improvisation. Can we do some chords and further up the neck..hard barre chords andtheir scales for example..to push us.. im getting bored with C n G!!
Yesss! Next week
Thank you TiBO, I just discovered your channel and you answered lots of question!
Thanks a lot for that message, so many questions I had when I started too! If you have more of those questions, drop me a message
Very nice. Sounds and looks like you put a lot of work into the playing and video. Thank you. I am just trying to learn a few sea chanteys on uke! They are catchy and fun to play, but this style you play sounds very nice. So many different sounds out of a 4 stringed instrument! Also, careful for snakes hide under hay bales at night and come out in the morning.
Hey thank you for the tip, the only fun thing I noticed was the enormous cloud of mosquitoes that exploded out of the hay when I accidentally bumped into it after I finished recording
I love your natural method of playing. I've subscribed. Thank you for an approach I'm comfortable with.
A more “natural” method of playing, I like that way of describing it. It really is much more accessible and fun than the stereotypical musical sheets and metronome hell
what Flight is that uke? thanks
That Ukulele is a Flight Diana Soundwave in Concert size. I can’t pronounce myself too much about recommending it or not. It’s definitely amazing instrument but the Soundwave system which is the key feature of these Flight models stopped working right after the 2 years warranty expired.
@@TiBO_Uke thanks for the feedback!
@@pedrosanchezpalma4443 You’re welcome 😉
very well explained! thanks a lot.
Hey Pedro! I’m glad you enjoyed it, I hope it helps you in your creative journey
You look so beautifully happy and serene
It’s so lovely making beautiful sounds - simply. It’s like a meditation ❤
Thank you for these absolutely gorgeous sounds ❤️
And thanks you for all your nice comments!
Beautiful and sublime
These are 2 very strong words, thank you!
I just started playing ukulele again, so I'm having to learn from the ground up like a first timer and your videos are some of the most helpful I've found so far!
I’m glad! I hope you manage to keep up the practice
This is GREAT ..very clear
Congrats to you for practicing that! These are great tools to grow confidence with your fingers
I added a fingerstyle practice video in the description. It’s very important to breakdown the parts into individual chunks in order to develop those Ukulele skills. I’m using it myself to practice, I’m sure it’ll help many of you ✌️
@@TiBO_Uke great.i will take a look.. thank you..i just love simple and meditative style which you embody even tho you obviously know lot!!
Your videos are very helpful & beautiful!
I’m trying! Thanks a lot!
I find it hard to follow the notes as they move as fast as you are playing... a pic of each chord or the numbering eg0222 for Gmaj7 ..and then a few ideas of how to improvise.. ?? Just my preferences.. but i think you did ask?
Yes that makes a lot of sense, your feedback is even more valuable to me since I know you’ve been following my content since a while now. I’m technically able to do that and I really want to implement it for future videos, the issue I have now is time but I’ll try something different next week! Also this video is a challenging one which probably requires a few replays to master. It’s just 1:30 but is a condensed version of what could probably be a 20min tutorial video on another channel.
Is the uke ok?
Yeah! Over the years I’ve learned how to not take care of it because this instrument is truly indestructible.
Love it...
Just for the landscape and ukulele, new sub❤
If you enjoy both of these things you might be in the right place indeed! Thanks for the nice comment ☀️
Great..nice n simple thanks
This is SO helpful to be able to just enjoy playing …..and enjoy the sound
Yes! It seems so obvious but really it’s not. How to enjoy music is something that you can learn and practice much like any other skills
@@TiBO_Uke❤
Fantastic tutorials. I will watch them all!
what is your ukulele Sprano or Concert?
It’s a Concert. Whatever you have or want they all have their strengths. The best Ukulele is the one you’re going to play with and not let sit in the dust :)
Super chill and unique video
This would be such a good warm up!! Need to pick up my uke again, burn out sucks 😢
It can be the warm up yeah, but you can certainly make a full song out of it! Thanks for the message, take care ✌️
