A linear walk in the Yorkshire Dales from Kirkby Stephen to Garsdale summiting 2 dales 30 mountains of wild boar fell & swarth fell
Great that. Love the Howgills.
Yes it’s a beautiful area
Aww brilliant that. Loved it. I’ve done Wild Boar Fell and Swarth Fell but from a different route. The views are incredible. Mallerstang is my favourite area. I got a bit emotional listening to your story about your son. Keep going.
Good stuff that. I’ll have to try Calf Top one day. What you said at 2:10 in the video I can totally relate to.
Thanks for watching getting to the start line is definitely the hardest part for me I have so many excuses not to set of you would not believe
Lovely video mate.
Cheers thank you for taking a look can’t wait to get out there again
Cracking walk that and great views of Wharfedale. Thanks for posting. Sorry to hear you’ve had a bad time going on recently - I hope you’re doing alright.
Thanks for watching it really is a beautiful place and most times you have it all to yourself
Good to see you’re out and about. It’s a wonderful part of the country with three Dales 30 all within striking distance. Bizarrely my wife and I were chatting with a business owner in Kettlewell a couple of months ago asking if he’d take a card payment as we weren’t spending much. He said there was no reason to refuse any amount and that he actually didn’t want cash as it had become so problematic to bank. I wonder if the £10 min thing is just a way to bump up turnover; if so it’s pretty poor practice imo? Anyway Buckden Pike is a superb fell so thanks for posting and please get stuck into the remaining fells on your Dales 30 list 🙏
Thanks for watching took a big effort but loved it strange one not accepting card you can go to some places and buy a chocolate bar and they don’t mind. Can’t work it out I do know this I will have cash next time.
Good video. I enjoyed it thanks. Got Fountains Fell on my list to do soon.
Thanks for watching much appreciated hope you enjoy it as much as I did great views from the summit
Good to see you back out mate...sorry you didn't get your Ice cream....just remember "Cash is King"
Cheers it took a big effort but thoroughly enjoyed the day it’s like I keep hearing people say it’s not the walk that’s hard it’s motivating yourself to get to the start. Learnt my lesson have cash in my rucksack now.
Excellent video. I pretty much did the same walk as you last summer 2022, with the exception of Fell Head. I agree with you that the Howgills remain an undiscovered gem for most walkers who will usually travel west to the Lakes or east to the Dales. Once again thanks for posting. I’m going to continue checking out your back catalogue 😁
Thanks for watching much appreciated struggling to get into the hills at the moment so been nothing new for a while
@@ackosadventures2486 quite often the hardest bit isn’t the walks themselves but actually getting out of the house to do them. I’m hoping the walks felt like they were doing you good, so I hope you get out again soon. I think doing the Dales 30 is a great idea. It’s a decent challenge to get your teeth into, but also doable (at least that’s how I see it!). Anyway I’ve really enjoyed your journey thus far. All the very best.
Another good one. My wife and I climbed up Great Whernside a few weeks ago. We started and finished in Starbotton walking along the Dales Way to Kettlewell then ascending Great Whernside using the same route you did. We then followed the ridge heading toward Buckden Pike but headed down a track to Starbotton well before Buckden Pike. The weather was fabulous and we enjoyed it enormously. One further note on Michael Portillo, I once went to a conference where he was the guest speaker. He was very charming and self effacing and I thought to his credit, he mentioned that he believed saving the Settle to Carlisle railway line was his finest achievement in politics. Thanks for sharing your walk; very enjoyable.
Thank you for watching much appreciated when I did Wild Boar Fell I took the train to Kirkby Stephen went across the Ribblehead amazing structure so glad he saved it 👍
One further comment that you might find useful when it comes to walks with less obvious paths, I started using the OS app a couple of years ago and if you download your chosen walk on your smartphone it’s brilliant for keeping you on the designated paths. I renew my sub each year automatically each year for around £25 pa.
Hoping to climb Wild Boar Fell and Swarth Fell next month, so came across this video doing a bit of research. Similar to yourself I’m working through the Dales 30 and it’s been brilliant to encourage me to look further afield than the Lakes (especially as I’m a Yorkshire man). I was really touched to hear you talk about losing your son; I’ve got two daughters and I can imagine the pain you’ve experienced. Similar to yourself I’ve always found walking to be an excellent antidote to life’s stresses and strains. I hope you’re doing well and that you’ve enjoyed walking the Dales 30. Take care and many thanks for posting;it looks a great walk.
Many thanks for watching it’s been one of my favourites the escarpment and the views from the top are excellent hope you enjoy it as much as I did 👍
Nice one mate.
Did these 2 today, ticking off yhe dales 30. Weather wasn't so kind, no view from the top at all!
Thanks for watching such a shame because because it’s a fabulous view from the top of Fountains Fell

No Lovely Seat, but very nice thoughtful words.
Thanks for watching it was a great day struggling to get out at the moment still got 13 to do
Loving the Dale's 30 videos, looking forward to watching them all and recreating some of your adventures for my channel, keep up the great work
Thanks for watching mate and enjoying been struggling to get out since Calf top but watching them back is helping me to get back out. Cheers 👍
Nice walk mate....can't wait to do this one...those lovely blue flowers were Harebells.
Cheers never heard of Harebells thanks for watching hope you have better luck on the weather than I did. I bet the walk back down Barbondale on a sunny day is superb.
Beautiful, touching video...Your choice of music worked so well.. We are off to the Dales Sunday, not sure where yet...you have just pushed Great Shunner higher up the list
Thank you for watching the walk up to great Shunner was great but the walk Down from Lovely seat was horrendous pest bogs everywhere. Hope you have good weather. Stuart
@@ackosadventures2486 Cheers....might save Lovely seat for dryer conditions then.
Its iconic that viaduct so pleased that it has still been maintained and walked under it a couple of times but not for a few years now. A good days hiking and some glorious views there too and even though the paths may not be the best the views sure are, cheers Alan
Funny you mentioned Fountains Abbey as we put it onto our list to visit this year, it is over 40 years ago since we were last there but we live just over an hour away. I used to do a lot of running and loved it till my knees told be I had to stop and has been complaining ever since. Nice walk, canny weather and some sensational views, nice to have it all to yourself as well. It's a shame what a trig point has been fenced off, especially when there is rusted barbed wire there too, a pet hate of mine. Cheers Alan
Thanks for watching Alan it was a gorgeous day the lesser known dales walks are so quiet I can’t understand it as they offer some great walks. 👍👍
Nice walk that...one of our fave's....
It was a great walk and a beautiful day and Kettlewell is my favourite village in the dales Thanks for watching
wonderful...we are chipping away at the Dales 30...hoping to do them all this year...might do these 2 this weekend after watching this...[ new sub ]
Thanks for watching hope you enjoy the walk as much as I did
Lovely walk & beautiful views. Thanks for the chat & taking us along. Have a wonderful day.
Thanks for watching mate it was a beautiful day and such a wonderful area.Cheers Stuart
First bit of snow I have seen this year on the tops and I bet it was nice to get out of that wind on the way down. Still a nice walk out that would have blown the cobwebs away, cheers Alan
It was a great walk Alan the lesser known Dales walks are so quiet. Thanks for watching
