From what I can see there is no parking lot you have to walk a mile to get to your building. Seems like it's going to be very expensive

How can you forget one of the largest projects in Illinois in the 280 acre transformation of the old abandoned mental health center in southwest suburban Tinley Park. Unlike the cookie cutter "luxury living" and chain restaurants with all the other projects in your video, this will truly be a unique community space with, parks, recreation and open green spaces.

These are 15 minute cities being developed.

The one repetative pattern I noticed is that corporations can’t get us to visit their stores anymore because of online sales, so they want to turn it into a “life style corporate third space that you just hang at and end up impulsively just walking into stores as you just EXPERIENCE LIFE” plus the mixed use development is a strategy it self to do this by making you so close why go online. I’m with people when it comes to everything being luxury and housing policy being bs along with this. America is broken and exists as an idelogical project for a select few and for the few to manipulate the many. Like this is nice and flashy and I’m glad to see new urbanism designs. But I’m totally with the people angry about everything being luxury and also seeing so much corporate and commercial focus and not enough actual public good and also self sufficiency space for local food production and also sort of public co-op partnership sort of workshops and maker spaces where we can learn to take our lives back. As an Eagle Scout it is soul crushing to read stuff in counter insurrgency and actually notice it’s on purpose that people wake up much later in life and just find out the whole system is bs. The entire country is just one giant counter insurrgency system

Awesome video. Great job!!! I live in one of the south west suburbs currently. Looks like there is development (both commercial and residential) everywhere you look. South west suburbs also have great access to nature, bike trails and hiking trails.

Luxury apartments, or same building as the other. I hate the look of these buildings. No personality at all. Someone wanted to build a cheaper building, now everybody builds them like this.

Yeah, but they're all chain restaurants.

I hope the plan for Old Orchard and Lombard come through. I noticed Old Orchard has been adding green space and more relevant stores. I rarely shop at the mall but a more full on beautiful mall would be inviting to come back more often.

I lived in Naperville for several years and it is way too overcrowded which makes it difficult to enjoy the city.

And all it takes is undisciplined children with no directions from broken homes coming to destroy the safety of these proposed developments. Just like they invaded downtown Chicago and now ppl don’t feel safe there anymore. I’m hoping for a future that supports community soon.

I would hope for a makeover of the American mall experience. But also, coming back from Asia made me realize how formulaic and dull American malls have become because of the same stores (A&F, Spenser's, Footlocker, etc), food court options (Sbarros, Cinnabons, etc.), and even the interior design. Straight up cookie cutter across the country with few exceptions. We could also use more child friendly areas. In Asia, I have seen malls where entire floors are dedicated to children related stores, services, and rides.

On the surface this all sounds great. But seems like they’re preparing for 15 minute cities.

It would be awesome if the "Rebuild Illinois" plan dedicated more money to expanding rail service. If all these suburbs had streetcars, it would help with congestion and help people move around. Heck, a rail system connecting suburbs would be great. I don't live in Chicago anymore; I'm in the Navy. But I would love to go back. Awesome video.

I recently obtained a new job over in the West Loop of Chicago and I need to move ASAP. I've been looking at Naperville, but I'm afraid of the commute. I need to be in the office 4 days a week. Is taking the metra good and reliable? Is the long commute time worth it or should I be moving closer to the city? I have a small family with a young child.

To make this video even more helpful, can you add chapter marks for each of the towns? I'd like to jump ahead to specific ones. And makes it more sharable for people who want to share about a particular suburb.

The thing is when will the 78 break ground on any building and Lincoln yards has built one building on the site but now complete silence on building anything else there.

What??? I was born and raised in Illinois (Maywood), but had moved to CA in 1997. I actually thought that the most richest suburbs in the state were in the north: Kenilworth and Winnetka. Funny how that’s changed, but Hinsdale?? Wow.... you'd think that OakBrook was richer than Hinsdale considering its proximity. What about River Forest and Barrington? There's money in those areas as well.

I'm over these developers pushing luxury living. How about provide affordable housing that's reasonable for folks?! Everyone does not have a six figure salary. Provide housing for essential folks: teachers, nurses, policemen, firefighters, etc... This luxury shit has got to stop!!!!!

Cool video sugar Grove and Montgomery also experiencing development. With the redline extension ready to start with construction how do you feel this will impact the long neglected south side neighborhoods. IMO that corridor will become the next frontier, hot spot, over the next decade, it has massive transit oriented developments written all over it

I lived in Naperville for almost 12 years. Downtown Naperville has become nothing but a shopping mall. It lost its uniqueness a long time ago. You are also talking about the more wealthy suburbs.

you should talk about some of the projects coming to aurora and oswego. There having a huge growth with projects and there’s definitely some worth making a video about. Such as Lincoln paire, the grand, and the megadome.

Any thoughts on improvement projects in Aurora? The city has been adding a bunch of new food spots and broke ground on a huge apartment project right on the river!

Pretty nice upscale area, my uncle lived there for many years of course he made excellent income but he eventually left as well because after a while enough is enough even if you are not hurting for money.
