Simple sequence that gets noisy. Using a Deepmind 12D for the pad and Model D for the bass.
Void Sky (Minilogue XD)

Made a simple chord sequence using 3 voices, motion sequencing the multi-engine to change wave shapes. Start with a closed filter, slowly open it and play a simple melody over the chords. Once things start to get out of hand, it all closes back down again.
I dunno a dumb synth song I can't think of a name

Remnants - 10 String bass looping video
I was looking for a short scale base to do the same kind of composing and stumbled across this video... Sounded great... 🙂
Serious question. I’ve been looking into more extended range instruments (I currently play a 6 string bass) where does one even get a 10 string bass?
Very nice! Could you tell me what tuning you use and what size strings?
Beautiful
Made me miss my nephew 😢
Hermoso ❤
Beautiful
What scale, action, and tension do these strings have? Is it generally worth it to play such an instrument through a bass amp or a guitar amp since some frequencies may be lost? Let's say hypothetically I have a 37'' to 32.5'' multiscale tuned from G#0 to E4, how different should the tension be? Is 45 to 32 pounds respectively a reasonable ratio? How hard would it be to press down these strings?
This reminds me of a song I heard in church once. Well done :)
Yeah it really does!
Hell yeah to another 10 string player
this is so good. it would be awesome to help you finish this
i have a feeling most guitarists would give you a nasty side eye if you walked into a room with that, but regardless, loved the video sounds like the journey home from a long adventure. also please tell me what the chords are
Thank you
Awesome!
Nice instrument and playing
What tuning and strings do you use?
It’s tuned F#-B-E-A-D-G-C-F-Bb-Eb, using Kalium strings balanced set for 10 strings .176-.009 gauge. The scale length on this bass is an even 34”
@@AlexThorpe Great! Thank you. Sounds amazing. Is the string tension balanced, are there adjustments you'd make? I'm going to order some strings
@@MasonWhite1994 it’s balanced enough for me, but I’m not super super picky with string tensions really. I have found .009” strings for the high Eb is the sweet spot at 34” scale, I’ve had .010” strings snap randomly when playing or even sitting on a stand, and .008” sound too thin. Definitely take time tuning it to pitch though, they last way way longer if you stretch it over a few hours when tuning it up first time.
Beautiful. Thank You. Inspiration for my future 8 string
Hey Alex, don you have any music out on Apple Music?
I do not unfortunately. I always meant to get a nicer recording of this and some other stuff but just haven’t quite got it done yet, lol. I do have the MP3s available that I could upload somewhere if you wanted
@@AlexThorpe I would feel horrible downloading your music for free. I really like this though :)
@@seanstiller7202 I appreciate the sentiment but my aim with music was never for it to be a money making venture. If someone is happy listening to it that is more than worth it to me!
@@AlexThorpe I would love to hear whatever your recorded. :)
Awesome Awesome Awesome! ❤🙏🏻
clean those fingernails
No thanks!
Nice work. Thank you. Picking up a similar guitar tomorrow and this is the kind of melodic clean pieces I’ll be writing and recording. Cool to hear toward film score.
Beautiful!!! <3
Thank you!!
Fucking beautiful 😍
So basically it's a 5 string bass with a 5 string guitar and you pick how low and high you want to play. Nice looking bass.
Sort of! I’d say think of a 4 string bass, but add 2 lower strings and 4 higher strings. Tuning goes F#-B-(EADG)-C-F-Bb-Eb with the brackets being standard 4 string bass strings.
Amazed
Thank you so much for not using an 8 string to djent or chug.
No problem!
How many sequencers did u need for this?
2, I think? Looking back at it I could have done the drums on the Keystep pro as well but I like sequencing them on the drumbrute with the velocity sensitive pads
Yuh know.....it sounds a lot like Dream Police.
Thank you for the kind words, uncle Cornelius.
*That was pretty smooth.*
You doing great on that 8...love that music fine performance
Hi. What effects do you use? YOu sound really deep, bright and cool. Keep on! Greetz
Thank you! This was just plugged direct into interface. That bass was very bright and clear sounding on its own, thanks to the active electronics. I think I put a Bartolini preamp in it, and it had the stock Bartolini pickups
@@AlexThorpe but you have some delay and reverb as well? Don't you?
@@BassGK oh, right! In other stuff that I've posted I've used a whole bunch of different effects pedals, mainly a Strymon Timeline, Eventide H9 (blackhole reverb) a Big Sky, and a Meris Polymoon. I've since switched over to using a Fractal FM3 as I got sick of moving a gigantic heavy board, and I have a few patches on there that do a lot of what my old board did
@@AlexThorpe Great. Thanks a lot for reply! I look some effects to get sound like Jean Baudin or you at this video.
LOVE IT !!!
Always watch this multiple times, what tuning are you in?
Thank you! This is in DADAC#E
thank *YOU*

Do you sequence the Tr-8S via Keystep? How is Keystep connected to TR-8S?
I tend to use the built in sequencer in the TR-8S most of the time so it can free up another track on the Keystep Pro. My midi routing goes Keystep Pro -> Octatrack -> AMT-8 Midi Splitter -> all other devices
Nice riff bro and tele
Well, this settles it, I'm going to get one haha. I love playing my bass, and my guitar, I can't stop playing either and having the option to play both at the same time is amazing. Thanks man.
fire riff raff
Beauriful piece! Is it available on bandcamp or something so I can buy?
actually surprisingly nice
Nice song!
Now I want a Minilogue XD..
It's such a powerful little synth, I keep finding new and fun things to do with it!
play a lot friend😎🔨🔨🔨
Working on finding someone to set up my bass so I can start recording more bass vids!
@@AlexThorpe You will be able to find someone, good luck brow
Crankset does it work with the bass? I've never seen a bass player using a pedalboard
Most effects work perfectly well on bass, only exception I can think of is maybe older synth style pedals that may have trouble tracking the lower notes
Man this sounds so chill and awesome!
Thank you so much!
So good
sounds sick dude
Maybe it’s the edibles. But listening to that felt like it was in harmony with my being.
