Dam, those switches ( china supplied) are the worst. I do away with the ignition switch every time and hide a remote ignition toggle switch.

The cone motor was from 1969

So, earlier this yr i found a 2006 883L for a good price. It had 34k miles and was blown out to a 1250. This last weekend i was able to trade straight across for a 1983 1000 roadster almost all stock with 9.2k miles on the clock. It is beautifulness in a. 1983 artform... lol i got an ironhead finally

Choppers are for everyone now, they are being loved and appreciated by so many different types of people nowadays. It's not a bad thing, but it brings very different types of people together in a common space, so there is bound to be some nervousness and tentative feelings between groups. If, let's say, they are younger, just starting out with their chopper love, and they come across some older hardcore bikers at an event. They know where they stand, they may be shy, and it can be scary to approach one us. The best we can do for the scene is to embrace our differences with open hearts and find the beauty in these new types of folk. With any luck leave them with a sense of, "hey, you know those old school chopper bikers I thought were scary and didn't like us are actually pretty rad and I learn a thing or two!" and visa versa, "you know those young hipsters are finding their own path, carrying the torch and doing their own thing while making beautiful bikes and I dig it!"

Have two Sportster Ironheads, a 1968 XLCH and an 1984 XLH. The worst enemy of a Sportster is the 2nd. owner who puts a bigger carburetor on the stock motor 'cause the bike shop wants to sell him a bigger carb. Rode my magneto-sparked, Tillotson-carbed, CH from Ft Bliss, TX to Ft Lewis, WA and on to Ft. Knox KY, before Sturgis was Sturgiis. Pre-corporate (~1973) Harley Davidson's are nothing more than two-wheel tractors, without the plow-shares, that are meant to farm fun. They were designed and built by tractor engineers in the great farm country of the American Midwest at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. To expect sophistication is futile, they were designed to be maintained by farmers with farm tools. But to expect speed is expected. An Ironhead Sportster "owned" the single engine streamliner land speed record of 265mph long enough to buy its mechanics at Bonneville a drink. P.S. Neither of my Sportster's are (ever) for sale - and put the ball check-valve and spring back in the oil pump (you know who you are). Cheers.

It's got bad since the cell phones come out I've been riding motorcycle 40 years I live in Louisville Kentucky I really live in bardstown now and you got to watch out for the idiots in cars they will kill you

Greaybeard wrench here, please I implore you, when using clamps on any machine, use only crimp clamps/ AN fittings/ or my favorite high pressure fuel injection clamps on oil lines.Never never ever use worm drive clamps on anything because they are crap. That's 1800s technology and there is no excuse besides you blew out a hose in BFE and the hardware store didn't have high pressure fuel injection line clamps. Other than that, use them only and you will get in many more happy miles, than you will shop time chasing leaks👍💯💯

I've seen you ride, and it looks like you need a little training, better learn to slow down on those corners because centrifugal force will take you where you don't want to go. Riding that white line on the outside of the road is not a good deal until you know about the laws of centrifugal force. And I can see that you haven't a clue. (just saying)
