As far as the mixer, could a drill with paint mixer blade be used for this? Also do I need a pressure cooker?
Hi! I just found your video. Been making soap since 2007, but have stopped in the past few years as the cost of products has sky-rocketed. Just wanted to say that I use a pitcher like you do for my lye water but I set it in a sink filled with ice water to help it cool faster. Also, I use a combination of ice and water for my mixture before adding the lye. To keep the pitcher with the lye water from "floating" in the sink with ice water, I use a very long handled wooden spoon and put it through the handle on the pitcher allowing the ends of spoon to rest on the sides of the sink. This helps the lye water to reach a lower temperature quicker. Also, as other commenters have noted, I use safety equipment including long cuffed rubber gloves, eye goggles, a respirator with filters like sold at the auto parts stores, and a plastic apron to protect my clothing, and close-toed shoes. Glad to see you linked the safety recommendations as they are very important. Good video!
You're so lucky you have a screw. My Brother (which looks to be the exact same as your Singer otherwise) has the spool pin held on by some kind of bolt thing that I can't get off. I was vaguely hoping that someone would say "hey, this is a dinglehopper screw - you need a whatyamacallit to take it off". Nice video though - at least I know I'm not that far off!
I truly appreciate your advice. Like you, I’ve also made pancake mix that was perfect & even a pound cake recipe that was great. But when I tried to make cornbread & pizza dough with it, it was terrible to say the least lol really appreciate your knowledge because now I understand why.
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching!
Thank you for this recipe. I think I’m going to try this for my eczema with a skin soothe essential oil.
Hope you like it!
Thank you so much for sharing your story. This is so insightful. I am 26 weeks, been bleeding on and off since before my anatomy scan. Was diagnosed with this conditio. Yesterday woke with bleeding and a clot, once the clot passed it eased up and stopped. So just waiting this out.... loved watching this.
I wish you all the best!! I know how scary it can all feel. If you'd like, please keep me posted on your journey. It helps other moms reading the comments to see other stories. Thanks for your sweet comment!
How old were your roosters?
Remember boys and girls soap made with lye needs to cure 4 to 6 weeks or your sincitive parts will you know 🔥!!! 😅
I wonder if refining removes some of the goodness from the tallow???
Great question! Tallow is very stable even at high heats. Tallow has a very high smoke point, meaning it takes a very high degree of heat at long durations of cooking before it starts to degrade. So perhaps there is a very small amount of degrading, but it's a negligible amount with it simmering in water this way. Thanks for watching!
Mam ingriendients in gms ?
Thanks for sharing your story. I was diagnosed with complete placenta previa at 16 weeks pregnant ultrasound. I was spotting continuously and got hospitalized. Thankfully the bleeding stopped and I am at bed rest until delivery. I am scared because I have previous 2 C-section before. Please pray for me. Now I am at 20+ weeks.
Thanks so much for your comment! I am so sorry to hear about your pregnancy thus far, but I will keep you in my thoughts and hope that the bleeding doesn't occur again. Please keep us posted here if you can, as it helps other moms to read your story. Thank you and best of luck to you and you little one!
Do you have the specs/details for your watering system? Love it!
We will try and get a video out to go over it asap! Thanks for asking!
Just mixed it up with yogurt-thats all i had. Hope they will eat it! Any idea how to boost their vit d??? Have a wonderful day💖
Use 1” pruning shears for the neck.
I couldn’t see my daughter for 7 days and couldn’t hold her for 2 weeks and was in the nicu 3 weeks. I was borderline stroking out from pre -eclampsia. It was the worst birth ! I’m pregnant with 4th baby and just feels different then my last 2 boys they were a dream pregnancy and c section. However my 3 tummy birth my blood pressure kept dropping and I felt like I was going to pass out so the anesthesiologist did something to bring my pressure back it happened 4-5 times during the 20 minute c section. I’m educating myself and just being prepared. I do not want to go through the nicu and emergency c section again!!!
I raise chickens for meat and eggs for myself. I usually do 10 meaties at a time, processing 5 one week and 5 the next. This takes me 1.5 hours total time from cone to fridge including setup, tear-down and cleaning my plucker and turkey fryer and putting everything away. Skinning may be fine for 1 or 2 birds, but investing in that plucker and turkey fryer was a complete game changer. I would never ever recommend against it, but it's up to each person to decide how much or little work they want to do when taking on self sufficiency.
Totally agree. I bought all the equipment before our first processing day as I knew I would scale up. I have to do just one chicken today as a mercy cull so no scalder or plucker. First time skinning and I found this helpful.
We definitely would like to invest in a plucker! We have-not been able to find one to rent and they are pretty pricey to buy. But in future it definitely seems the way to go! Thanks for commenting!
I have had the same experiences and won't be using the full size chickshaw again. However, I will be trying out the smaller version that I believe will hold up much better and I'll address the lid issue. Also, I found the door will require repair and replacing often. A sliding door and ramp is a much better option.
A sliding door is a great alternative! Thanks for the idea!
Once purified and dried can I store this in the fridge until I am ready to use it in my lotions and balms? I live in a hot climate.
Absolutely! I often do this if I know I won't need it for another 6 months or so. Thanks for watching!
Can you get pregnant without a placenta
Thank you so much
You're most welcome
Super video 😀

I was happy to see a simple soap recipe with so few ingredients. My daughter gave me flower soap molds for Mother's day, so we decided to try this recipe. We waited 48 hours exactly before unmolding the soap flowers, but when we did the soap was still really soft and the designs didn't turn out well. I'm not sure what I did wrong. I'm hoping the soap will harden and still be usable. Maybe I didn't mix the soap batter to a thick enough trace. Could that make a big difference? I'm just starting my adventures in soap making.
I'm so sorry to hear it didn't turn out well for you! Did you allow them to cure for 4-6 weeks? I have not used designed molds for this soap so I can't comment on whether that was a factor or not. You could have reached a false trace if the temperature wasn't high enough. This means things didn't get 100% emulsified. In any case, I hope you don't let it deter you from soap making! Even I am still learning and make mistakes. Thank you for commenting! Best wishes.
@@thealfordhomestead5191 We have let the soap cure now for 8 weeks, or so and it has hardened considerably. It looks like we'll be enjoying it very soon. Thank you!
@@coffeerocks4764 Wonderful!! So glad to hear it!
❤ thank you..easy peasy
You bet! Thanks for commenting!
can you make us a percentage rate or ur recipe
Dr Berg talked about this and you had a shorter video on how to fo it. Question, does the meat have to be grass fed?
Oh, interesting! No it does not; the end product will still result in a wonderful tallow with multiple uses. Thanks for watching!
Grass fed and grassed finished is a better quality product. ❤
Great stuff, thank you.
Thanks so much for the kind comment!
Why does my drinking yoghurt separate water on standing?
That is they whey separating; it's normal! Just make sure to mix your yogurt well when it's done. Also make sure to not incubate the yogurt too long. I aim for 12 hours. Thanks for your question!
I can’t do it smh
It can take some getting used to. Thanks for commenting!

wait, so when I cook ground beef, I can turn the fat into TALLOW?!
indeed! Thanks for watching!
Can you still cook with this after all that refining?
Actually it's even more ideal for cooking now that there are no impurities in it because these impurities are easy to burn while cooking. The smell and taste of your food would be for the worse because of this. So I definitely recommend 'refining' the oil. Thanks for your question!
It's getting interested when you show plants with and without Comfrey compost, otherwise it is just a hear say and no backing of visual proof. ( Not saying it ain't true but people need to see and it ain't a complain, just a suggestion.)
Thanks for your comment! I agree, which is why I do plan on using my powder in one half of my bed and leave the other half as the 'control'. It would be interesting to see. But the thing about supplements is sometimes the benefits aren't so immediately apparent, but that doesn't mean it isn't working magic in your soil. It could need longer before we see progress in the form of better plant growth etc. There are lots of variables but in any case, why not try it!
I use a specific variety of Comfrey. Boking 14. This variety does not spread except if the root is broken up like by tilling the soil. Comfrey can be rather invasive as other varieties spread by seeds and roots. Pick the place you want the Comfrey as it takes an act of congress to get rid of it. Different articles I have read claim up to a 10 ft tap root like a dandelion on steroids. Thank you for the tip on drying it. Very useful.
Whoa, 10 feet is incredible! You are correct; we don't have an invasive type so thankfully it hasn't been an issue. Thanks for your comment!
Awesome video. I do hope that my husband will help me to start making these
Thanks for watching!
I’m currently 21 weeks got told I have complete placenta previa. I had 2 normal deliveries already this will be my third Im praying every day that it will move upwards…. For god nothing is impossible!!!! I’m staying positive and relaxed ❤ praying for all !!!
Wow I'm also 21 weeks and just left the hospital due to bleeding, and now know that I too have complete placenta previa, I pray everything goes well for the both us , take care 🙏🏾
I wish you and your little one all the best!! Keep us posted here if you wish. I would love to hear your story. Thanks so much for commenting!
I'm so sorry to hear that! I hope you and your little one continue onward without any major bleeds. Keep us posted if you can.. it really helps for moms to read up on other women's stories. All the best to you!
Thanks for this video stay bless❤
You are so welcome!
I have a tip you may like. After going onto the jar turn your jar upside down in the fridge with water. Leave enough for a small air pocket. Once cooled the water will be “on top” with the impurities, dump water, scrape impurities off and BAM! Jar of tallow free from impurities.
Thanks for commenting! What you described sounds like the first step in this process, which is to separate the fat from the water/gelatin/large impurities. This is just fine if it will be for cooking purposes. But I personally like to take it a step further by cleaning with salt or baking soda to ensure there is no residual smell or other impurities. Thanks for watching!
That’s genius!
@@thealfordhomestead5191 right… this just helps it stay where you want it and if any impurities get in there somehow it will always be on top, and you can scrape it off when used next, if any at all.
Can I purchase seed from you? I know you spoke about putting in your compost being. Is it OK for warm composting as well?
So sorry but I do not sell seeds! Definitely try getting some from a friend if you can or Facebook Marketplace. It is totally fine for any type of compost you have! Thanks for watching.

I'm so glad you found it useful! Thanks so much for your kind comment.
I planted a dozen of these for my garden fertilizer. It's wonderful! It also hrlps my compost pile. I also chop and drop it to mulch my garden.
Wonderful ideas! Compost truly is a miracle in the garden. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
I've been using Comfrey (Beinwell) for years and find your video well-made, informative, and spot-on.
Thanks so much for your kind comment. Happy gardening!
Thanks for sharing...Enjoyed the video.

Warning: It will never go away. At least in Oregon, this is a weed. We've never planted it and we've been battling to get rid of it for my entire life..
Grow the right variety and it isn't a problem
And I paid 10$ for a few seeds lol
Some weeds are very beneficial! But this variety does not take over the garden; not sure which variety you have but that may be why we've had different experiences. Thanks for watching!
My friend just gave me a start of comfrey
That's how we got started with ours! You'll love it!
A year later, still working well?! Any changes made? Ty
Yes it is!! Now that we've had it for a while, the one thing we would change is to use the brass nipples. The nipples we used were cheaper and sometimes stick to the side (not often but it does happen), causing water to leak. The brass nipples are a bit more expensive but I think would prevent the nipple from that occasional sticking! Thanks for the comment!
@@thealfordhomestead5191 thank you for the response! We are getting tired of refilling the water bottles!😅
I hear that!
This is EXACTLY what I needed!!! I’ve been tailoring my suit pants by hand and finally got tired of it lol My wife found a singer simple, basically brand new, on fb marketplace for $35!!! When we got home I realized something looked off then I realized that the spool pin was broken off. I was really worried that I would have to unscrew the machine 😂 butttt that’s fine!! Now I know exactly what to do!!
Wonderful! I'm so glad the video helped you out. Thank you for sharing your comment! Happy sewing!
This sounds like a four day process though, it can be way easier.
Thanks for watching!
How do you do yours?
Huh!?
I’m currently 29 weeks forward facing placenta previa, I have an MRI scheduled, no bleeding but I’m addicted to learning more about this since there’s not much for me to go on!
I will keep my fingers crossed for you! It can be frustrating not having enough available information. Keep doing your research just in case! I hope you continue on with your pregnancy without any bleeds or other issues. Please keep us posted here if you can! Best of luck!
I would much rather use fresh beautiful eggs and let my hen mama and hatch!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you, good ideas. You have any advice about heating the coop during freezing months of winter but as safe as possible, Im terrified of fire hazards for my chickens.
Don’t heat at all unless you have small unfeathered chicks. Chickens can withstand extreme temperatures both hot and cold!
