it fits but it is tight against the driver and passenger seats. I had to trim some of the old jump seat bracket to get it to fit. Using the rear bolts holes was pretty tight. I welded the front. Seems to sit in the truck well.

I appreciate this review 👍
Every time I see a shiny Land Rover with one of these things (sometimes two) bolted to the side, I say, "See, kids, here goes a fucking imbecile.".
Not only under sound they expand they do due to any hot weather too it’s only works in winter not in summer, I wish they used better quality more thicker.
Very true it’s cheap as shit mine rotopax expanded under the sun niw it never came back to its original shape it’s balloon 🎈 now it’s so cheap quality waste of money.
Thx dude you just save me a lot of pain.
Trash review! use better vocabulary dude
Go away!
I agree! Short and Sweet Analogy of Garbage!
This video deserves way more credit. This is what inspired most of us about turbo dodges. Now I have a 86 Turbo Z CS Daytona and a 87 Shelby Z. Love the video.
Did you find a good mounting solution for the jerry cans you planned on using? After seeing your video I can no longer waste money on the rotopax system but the only two options I see for mounting jerry cans are 1. on the roof (not comfortable) or 2. get a rear bumper mod on my 4runner. Looks like Jerrys are too heavy for ladder or molle panel mounts.
Well, need to understand how any fuel can works to start with. Lock for that matter.
I've had the same RotoPax gas cans on my Jeep for years. Couple of points to avoid the issues this video points out. Plastic anything isn't designed to be exposed to sun/elements 24/7 for months on end. UV radiation from the sun degrades all plastic, including Rotopax which does last longer than others. Its amusing to me to see Jeeps/trucks all decked out with gas cans and plastic storage bin on racks just driving around in the city. I keep my Rotopax gas cans in the garage until I go out on a trip. Same with my fancy plastic storage bins that attached to my overhead rack. The same cans left out in the sun constantly will last a year or so. I've had the same Rotopax cans since 2009/2010, and they still look newish. The locking mounts are ESSENTIAL!!! Those cans are expensive. I've been on trips with friends, and when coming out of a hotel room in a popular offroading destination, those who didn't lock their cans up didn't have them the following morning. To keep the locks from getting gunked up, 1. don't leave them on the vehicle all the time. and clean them after a trip. 2. they make dry lube (NOT WD-40), lithium grease/dry. spray the locks prior to a trip. I've had the same locks since they first came out. The only mod was I removed the plastic part on the keys so they easily fit on a key chain.
Someone with common sense and logical thinking. Thank you for your review good sir!
Military JP5 plastic cans last in the sun.
LMFAO
I love mine. I have the updated version with an air release on the back, that helps with the expansion due to weather. I bought 2- 1.3 gallon rotopax for my motorcycle, for a trip from southern Indiana, to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. For sake of transparency, they only held fuel from Fairbanks to cold foot camp, and then from cold foot to Deadhorse and back. They saved my ass when fuel levels dropped. They allowed me peace of mind, to know that my bike was going to make it. Let's be honest though...90% of the guys you see with these on their jeeps or trucks, have just bought them for looks and not practicality. I have used mine on my bike in Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, death valley, the Canadian Ice Fields and the Dalton Highway in Alaska. They can be a life saver when needed!
literally like listening to me talk.... fuck this, fuck that and fuck these lmao.... You are my kind of people!!
Haha! I like your style. Don't hold back. Only thing is, that's a Fuelpax not a Rotopax. Probably the same thing made at the same Chinese factory however.
This was covered in other comments, it says Rotopax right on the jug...
Look again at 0:00, it says Fuelpax right on the jug, and Rotopax on the mount. @@FranManGarage
@@erictrenbeath9680 it is the same company............
Rotopax and their accessories are made in the US…they’re based in Sonora California.
@@FranManGarage Fuelpax is the cheaper blow molded version. Rotopax cans are rotational molded and way thicker. So less problems.
Thumbs down for unnecessarily foul mouth and the annoying title. Helpful info tho.
I just purchased some Roto packs and you’re correct when it gets hot they expand and then they contract and it makes it hard to turn the mechanism also I just purchased the locks and they don’t work I don’t understand how the lock system is supposed to lock these on it just locks one section to the other section but it still turns so what is the reason for the lock I just picked up the locks today and I’m returning them tomorrow the fuel cans and water can I like but the mounting system does suck!!!
I need fuel on my on/off road bike.was just about to order. No idea what to do now, crap
Agree! Cheap hardware. Great bumper.
The best way to use them is only carry fuel if you are planning a remote trip other than that keep them empty
Correct, the best way to use the gas tank is not to put gas in them.
@@FranManGaragec’mon he’s not wrong tho. They’re usually filled up for a trip as reserve gas, fill a generator or help start a camp fire. When you get down from where you were dump it in your fuel tank and get on with it. Fuel goes bad anyhow, leaving one filled up is a bad idea and frankly you’re leaving a molitov cocktail strapped to your car, not super smart unless you need it.
You have the fuelpax not a rotopax those are cheaper and built as such.
I am answered this in the other comments. You don't know what you are talking about. Rotopax is clearly on that gas can.
1 second in you can see top right fuelpax yes it’s made by rotopax but it’s the cheaper version so you don’t know what your talking about
@@Tankyanker Fanboi logic strikes again....
@@FranManGarage don’t have any from them how can I be a fan boi? Have you ever actually listened to what you say? Or do you just have diarrhea of the mouth all the time?
Determined! D
That is a "Fuelpax", not a RotoPax®. It's a knockoff product. Different products.
Says "by rotopax" right on the jug buddy... it is in the video clear as day... their other models suck too. I have them all, waste of money.
@@FranManGarageI understand, but it's much thinner than a RotoPax, and a different product. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with it.
@@toogood222 " It's a knockoff product" That is what you said, it is not. I have their other thicker pax and they failed and were replaced under warranty. I have thousands of miles overlanding these product, along with friends running them. They suck. My friends that still run them modded them with metal caps and a vent port, they only run them on trips, etc... Basically more cost and added hassle. It isn't like they are affordable to start with. I am sure by now the folks over there at Rotopax have seen this video. Hopefully they'll try harder on their next products.
@@FranManGarage Seriously the guys trying to defend this fuel container...smh! It would be quite alright if the whole thing cost $20 but they sell it as a system, and charge an arm and a leg...so yeah they are overpriced, non-functional, defended by mall-crawler owners and are solely for the looks (on gram and on mall parking lots)
You saved me having open wallet surgery. Appreciate your honesty. Be lucky mate. 🇬🇧
Hilarious!
Never seemed like a good idea to me. Never bought one. Seemed like a fashion accesory from the start.

Sweet Jeep! I had an old 304 V8 CJ7 5speed. It is still one of my favorite vehicles ever.
Looks like it’s running good
Thanks so much for taking the time to post this video, you saved me from a horrible mistake. Per your recommendation, I bought the Jerry Cans from Wavian. Those are epic! They get cold, hot, rained on - sit in the sun and freeze. So far, they have worked great over the last 6 months. Thanks again!
That pull looks really fun
Thanks for the heads up.
🥳👍👍
Hmmm... I have had my two one-gallon Roto Paxs for 5 years and they have served my well. Of course I do not ride in the sand. I carry them on the back of my Harley Davidson 2018 Fat Bob FXFBS. They come in handy on a long ride where gas stations are few and far in-between. Stop complaining and come up with a better alternative.
I already provided a link to a better alternative.
I use the fuel and water cans. I use rotopaxs on my dual sport adventure bike and they have served me well out in the boonies….
@@FranManGarageWhere’s the link?
@@hmtrimworks7148 it is pinned on this video, should be the top comment... It is the Jerry can video

I literally stopped my purchase because of this video. Why? Because it actually makes sense lol. Damn I wanted to get a few for my jeep and trailer. But guess not anymore. :/
Sorry, feel free to double check me and ask other folks that use them, verse just have them on for show. That said I don't feel too bad for rotopax as I waste a ton of money on them. Their water jugs seems fine.
@@FranManGarage so only do the water jugs? I was thinking a black and a white one. I also have a diesel so not sure if fuel expansion is as much of an issue? Not sure.
Ceagle blimbing
You got that right, they are garbage but so are all other plastic gas cans, since government thought it was safer to remove the vent relief valve. my five gallon cans do that vacuum crushing look and I have to use an air compressor to pop them back out
