I think one of the best details is when Carmy is telling her how he doesn't want to be difficult, he says it more like an order she has to accept and when he stares at her she immediately summits like saying.... "yes chef"

Sydney deserves a man who's as level-headed as her and that's definitely not Carmy.

The greatest thing about Luca is his calm and steady approach towards the cooking profession as opposed to Carmy’s.

My problem with Carmy and Sydney is not the lack of chemistry that some mention. Although I didn’t notice it until the second season, I decided to rewatch the first one to clarify my doubts, and indeed, they have chemistry; I just hadn’t realized it before. However, I don’t see them as a couple right now, since Carmen is complicated and needs to resolve many of his issues before having a relationship. Besides, there’s Claire, but I also like how Luka and Sydney look together.

Sydney is an interesting character and honestly portrayed but she would be a nightmare to work with. She constantly undermines Carm and pit him into corners. Carm is having a nervous breakdown and she’s not helping. Syd’s idea of helping is sitting on top of Carm’s shoulders whispering into his ear all the things he’s doing wrong. Carm’s litterally begging for help and Syd walks away from him. Syd isn’t willing to be a leader and tell him what’s on her mind. If she is so broken that she can’t have a difficult conversation with him because it’s too stressful she’s in the wrong industry. She needs to say “Carm, I’m leaving.” or start working as hard as he is. They will probably write away Syd’s failures as a leader in season 4 but watching from the beginning she’s never been anything but the weakest link in that kitchen. Why does everyone hate Carmy? Because he’s the only one upholding the standard. Syd signed up for this, to turn around later and say it’s too hard is galling. Syd should be the one upholding the finest standards, instead she’s a wet blanket of insecurity.

Luca says that he’s not “as good as” Carmy, but he’s just talking about the cooking skill superiority that Carmy has, he’s not talking about the other subtle skills, his ability to remain calm, and therefore to cooperate more easily and efficiently, to be able to attract and calm people. Those are very helpful skills in a work environment as well, to be surrounded by calm and quiet confidence is a blessing, and the fact that the bear doesn’t succeed completely proves that, no matter your creative genius, if you can’t keep the team united and concentrated, you’ll fail either way.

People don't understand you aren't supposed to like Carmy right now. This whole season was about not liking him and who he is becoming despite his journey. That despite so much good influence from Ever and French Laundry and the other wonderful culinary faces in his life, he is ultimately a product of trauma. That isn't something you settle in one season. It's why the season ends the way it does because it doesn't want that quick relief from closure. It wants to fully dive into Carmy's intense and obsessive ideals in cooking that appeared far before Chef David ever treated him like shit and stayed long afterwards as a fixation of his desire to do right in one part of his life(love,family,work). Remember what state Carmy even came to New York in and what event triggered all of this. It was never healthy nor healing from beginning, middle, and end.

Ok don't hate me... but why would anyone want Claire or Syndney with Carmy?? They both deserve better in terms of romantic and business partners. Carmy has a lot to work through. I dont think anyone should be in a relationship with such an unstable person, especially Claire. She really does have her shit together and seems to be genuinely sweet.

Luca is stable. Carmy is…NOT lol. Makes Luca a good foil for Carmy. Hope we see more of him

I really don't like Claire I mean I can't freaking stand seeing her stupid annoying face everytime she shows up in a scene! I really really really wish that she would just go far far away and go be a Dr. somewhere else! And I sure didn't like the scene when the other Chefs went to the hospital to try and get Claire back together with Carmy they seriously need to back the heck off and leave it alone!

I love the understated flrtiness of this scene. Not too many giggles or inebriated banter, but just enough to give audience that spark. Brilliant choices by the actors and director.

All the people hating on this season have a - never dealt with mental illness or b - really didn't pay attention to the first episode at all. Not all moments are perfect, but I love how slow this season was, how they tried things, and how so much of this show centred around "reviews". That this meta context is going over your heads is just bizarre
