    85 gallon fuel tank is OK, 100 gallon is better considering you never want to run with less than 20 gallons in the tank. You're going to wish you had a bigger def tank than that little 6 gallon size. The 12 gallon def tank is definitely a better option.

    Backup alarms on a dockstocker going forward and backwards? No thanks. Tell them to get lights instead of making their operators deaf.

    • @cedricwu9167
      @cedricwu9167 Місяць тому

      Ok, I have a few points for you that will disput what you said, since I have a valid opinion, and I work in a warehouse with these safety mechanisms. First off, the "alarm" or the "beeping" that goes off when going forwards and backwards is for safety. Its so that other people that are not the forklift drivers can hear that the forklift is heading their direction. Second of all, it HAS to be as loud as you are led to believe it is (which is nowhere near deafening), because it is within a warehouse, that is quite big, and where the aisles can be quite long. Again, to ensure the safety of others that are working within the warehouse. Lights do not do much at all, especially going around blind corners, which Sams club and Costco both have. We are not defeaned by the beeping, and if we were, we have ear plugs, but again, due to safety reasons, especially since operating a 9 THOUSAND pound machine, it would be dangerous to wear those earplugs. Simply speaking, it is a job, and if you cannot do your job, and if something as little as beeping will deafen you, you are not fit to work within the warehouse industry.

      @@cedricwu9167 I don't have time to write a book here, but I started in warehouses when I was 18 yrs old. I'm 53 now, so I've seen a lot. No offence, but you sound young by the way you write. Are you in your early twenties? I've worked in buildings with machines with backup alarms that were not safe at all. It's all about the operator and a safety culture that's enforced. My company now has about 80 pieces of MHE in a 540,000 sq ft facility and only TWO have backup alarms (and we were given them from another facility so we can't remove the alarms as they are stock equipment), and it's the safest building I've ever worked in. You do not need them. Come talk to me if you are still working there in your 50s and maybe you'll change my mind. Oh, and I choose to wear earplugs when I drive one of those two machines, and that doesn't make it unsafe either. I'm not trying to be a dick, but trust me, you're hearing doesn't last forever. I was obviously exaggerating about going deaf, but loud noise over time can give you tinnitus, which I have (also from rock concerts when I was younger). Alarms on machines where you have full visibility in one direction are not needed. Too much noise is just ignored and perceived as background noise, that's why those lights on the floor were introduced (as well as to reduce operator fatigue). Guess I wrote a bit of a book after all, as I'm pretty passionate about this. Warehouse jobs are generally uneducated, low skill work, and I hate to say it, but we are treated as much, so it's important to advocate for yourself.

    • @cedricwu9167
      @cedricwu9167 Місяць тому

      @@Acheron.426you absolutely cannot depend on a “safety culture” as every single warehouse in the world all have different cultures, hell even different departments within those warehouses have different cultures. Back up alarms again are one of those safety issues that if you didn’t have, there would be more injuries. I can understand where you are coming from, but to me, it is better to have those alarms than just a red light that you may not see in time, as most of the times, people are not staring at the ground while walking. Within my warehouse, it is common knowledge that you hear a forklift, you give way to it, and one of those hearing aids is the alarm. When there is a forklift approaching you from behind, would you immediately look down to see where it’s coming from, as you suppose the red lights would work like? Sure, it can be read as background noise, but to most new people who has just gotten hired, it’s so much safer to have the alarms. Costco and Sam’s constantly are hiring, so removing those alarms makes it that much unsafe, which relates back to the culture, in which new people don’t even know about. Back up alarms are there for a reason, if it was useless, what would the point be? If companies knew that, then wouldn’t they just get redundant?

This company can do more for it's employee's but they treat you like a dime a dozen and treat your work like cheap china labor easily replaceable of you get on their bad sides...Your not allowed to have an opinion or express it in public your expected to show up for work happy and smiling and say how can i help you to people who don't give a F*ck...I feel your pain my man and i can relate!

      I work on these same machines at amazon, you just gotta take it slow and easy until you get comfortable with it. Regardless of what your supervisor says, safety is your #1 priority when operating heavy machinery. Take it slow, this way any mistakes can be caught before they happen. I'm not sure how ya'lls machines are, but ours have screens that tell us how high our forks are. If ya'll have that, use that to your advantage when pulling pallets from high racking.

    • @TheLittlePrayerCafe
      @TheLittlePrayerCafe 4 місяці тому

      @@seyo6366 Thank you. Because I work the morning shift. I got to drop pallets from the top and you only get 4 hours to do so on Fridays Saturdays and Mondays and Tuesdays. Sundays is the only slow day because we open at 10. I’m like why are yall in here at 8M. Sheesh! 😆 Some times you have to drop 68 pallets out of the steel. Mind you I have to start on snacks which is aisles 17 to 34. 37 is Beauty and protein drinks and body wash items. I’m like you gotta drop all this in 4 hours and then start putting it all back around 730 by yourself. Whew. I’m still trying to level my forks into the pallets too. Because they place pallets like the protein drinks. Listerine, and bulky cans like beans, corn, on the 3rd steel and that’s the problem I have because I’m like this is too heavy to be going all the way on the highest steel. They got gazebos, beds, deck boxes, all on the highest steel. I’m like these things are HEAVY. Why are they all the way up there? But you’re right. Slow down. Just be careful.

    • @CollinMac96
      @CollinMac96 3 місяці тому

      @@TheLittlePrayerCafethe reason why those big bulky items are in the top steel is because it is much easier to pull them off the steel compared to being in the middle. The steel fixtures can support plenty of weight. If you are having difficulty getting stuff from the top do the following: Level out your forks before going in. Raise them enough for the fork to touch the pallet after you go in. Lift very slightly. Tilt the forks back then lift up more. Finally, you back out and lower when you’re able to. That is how I train on forklift.
