I’m an electrician with a biology degree that has always wanted to build a truck. I have little to no auto mechanical experience so why not get a 1951 GMC 5 window and put out on an S10 frame. What could go wrong?
1951 GMC 100 - 300 mile update and Power Steering
Finally got the power steering going. Pretty hokey since I didn't know where to get a house made. I've driven it a little over 300 miles and the issues are starting to show. Nothing has rejected itself yet.

The fight with the hood and fenders. I wish I could do an exciting "We're going to lose the shop" on this. It's a tough job.
1951 GMC 100 - Redoing the fuel lines and fixing my wiring issue. Plus a bonus mess!!

I fixed my leaky fuel system by redoing every connection, fixed my ignition problem so the truck will shut off and I spewed tranny fluid everywhere.
1951 GMC 100 - I hate wiring

This should be easy. The truck started and wouldn't turn off. had to unhook the fuel pump to make it stop.

This is proof of how much the worker hate their job! Last year, a McDonald employee gave me a whole bag of ketchup and napkins...
Old rigs doing burnouts awesome !!
If I'd known at a younger age it would have been trouble.
It's okay my mommy would have just bought me a mustang with no exhaust on it
Working on the rear end and spilled “tranny” fluid? On the floor Bruh! I’m dying!! 😂😂😂
Seals weren't lubricated.😂
True, I'm glad the garage seals kept the trans fluid inside instead of on the driveway.
I got two of these from Amazon, and both burned out within a week. So they aren't going on. I am sad now looking at how it looked.
I got it all fixed up now. New exhaust and carb. He runs like a dream now.....well sort of.
I hope it's something that you can fix easily.
I think I over filled it by a bit. A lot actually.
❤👍
I bet that smile is hard to wipe off.🤣🤣
I'm just waiting for something to hit the eject button, like a front tire. I don't think I'd handle it as well as you did. I'm grateful for the example though for when it happens.
Awesome update!!
That flashing tape will bleed off the tar backing
My dad and i are working on one as well since it was his first truck currently needs allot of repair but im praying we can get her done and look good
The time with family is priceless. Too bad life gets busy and that time gets set aside for lesser things. I hope you are able to get it back out sooner than later.
What headlights did you go with?
Looks great
Looking good bud but ez on turning your holes out bad😂.....progress even if only a step forward is better than standing still or moving backwards ❤
Which truck is that?
My son's '61
It identifies as a seal leaking 😂😂😂
So maddening. "Rebuilt" trans
What is everyone's opinion on Lucas oil to maybe get it to stop??
Chassis swap. On full size frame...LS
Yup Cab corners collect crap. All four supports are usually gone 👍
❤1961 Apache 👍
Excelent
Go for it
Not a fan
Yes - Do it
I tried and they failed multiple times so I bagged the idea.
Very cool to see it moving. Also, it has a really nice stance. You might have to call an electrician for all the 🤣😆 .spaghetti in the in the dash
Hey, everybody’s doing it. Why not you?
Your plug wires are on the headers that's going to be the next problem
I'm fully ready for that. I'm surprised they have lasted this long. I wish there were places local to buy this kind of stuff. Bugs me that the local businesses are upset that we all buy so much off the Internet instead of them. They make it this way but not having anything for hotrods.
I think it's more on your carburetor because it's seeping down when you fire it up it's got too much fumes and that's what's happening it's trying to burn up the excess
By the way why don't you put the exhaust on it won't have any back flashes of gases
Congratulations on making it motivate👍
On your transmission with a 700 r4 in reverse that's the highest pressure should be rebuilt an essential blow over the motor
I checked my fluid level again and found it low after reading your comment. It works a little better now. Thank you. I might dump some of that "rebuild in a bottle" into it and see if that helps.
Very cool to see it moving. Also, it has a really nice stance. You might have to call an electrician for all the spaghetti in the in the dash. 😆🤣
the running boards will line the bed up for you! keep up the good work
Your fuel pressure looks low to me and the leak that you have by the pcv hose looks like either the 1” filter housing gasket is leaking or loose or you have a bad fuel line flare. You’ll get it, keep at it!
Those coolant lines you blocked off - you might need to run a bypass hose
Put some oil on that belt! (LOL). Glad to see it running and moving.
I still have no idea how I couldn’t hear that. It is so obnoxious.
👍🇺🇸Post again when you get it finished.
Damn man that's rough. But time for some major growth and learning. I'll help when I can.
A lot of people have problems with them hoods trying to line up perfect a month ago my son got married on Oahu nice video you have a nice day
Fender alignment will make you nuts🤔🤐🥴
Those hood/fender gaps are so much better than mine. Great work.
They are a battle. If anything I've learned I need to gain more patience and become slower to anger.
@@occougyou and me both my friend.
I'd drop the transmission pan to look for metal partials and change the filter. it's easy. A simple loop in the transmission lines will let you run it, Don't just block them off.
Solving problems and moving forward!!👍👍👍👍
That is weird. Must be some hidden power supply somewhere in there.
I hate hidden power. For 16 years It's always DC and I have come to hate DC. Why do I do this to myself??
When it starts and you pull through better cable...if the engine keeps running the alternator is working. Pulling the cable isn't a kill switch. To kill it I believe that is on the HEI.
"I have just started a project..um...I don't know a whole lot about what i'm doing"......that's an instant subscribe click right there.
Hopefully i have improved a bit since this first video. Many, many panic moments that I have luckily escaped only minimally scathed. Thanks for subscribing.
Hey there! I understand the frustration. I'm a dealer for Painless - If you want to start from scratch and ditch the cheapo stuff, let me know. Happy to help you out.
Bout halfway thru putting my 22circuit painless in my 47 dodge with a 4 seconds flat hei distributor and 78 la 360, the painless manual is so intuitive, lays everything out, has nice big index at end showing all the wires, sent several emails to painless get replys within a couple hours everytime
Getting close.
