    Most of these cryonicists, especially the activist cryos, have been taking these Life extension supplements for many decades.. but they keep dying at the same age as normal people.. I think the best guy to understanding cry on assist and cryonics is to look at the interview that Larry King gave the New York times in 2015.. King had said on a number of occasions on TV that he wanted to be Frozen when he died.. but in 2015 he told the times that the people behind cryonics are nuts but they're the only ones with any chance.. as a long time signed up cryo myself I tend to agree.. in order to become a cryo you have to be separated from society in some fundamental way..

    I do believe I heard about this guy back in the 80's and 90's. I think if you did further research, they do have a chryo facility somewhere, but that might be another guy, cause this isn't entirely a solitary one guy did this type of thing. The church thing was just to keep the IRS at bay, hard to fault the guy for that, as they butted into his business in the first place when I'm sure the guy is trying to do good for humanity in a world that doesn't seem to want people to live forever, but yet another subject. Metformin is used a bit in Keto circles as a supplement to help get blood sugars under control, which I think is why a top Keto doc moved to Florida and opened her practice. Back to Bill, I think they have tried to interview him, but he resists, probably gun shy of the press after the frenzy of the past century. I kinda prefer this guy's methods more than becoming a borg... Worse yet, being conscious living permanently inside of a computer unable to die. Being 60, I have thought a great deal about this. I'm inclined to take my chances at an afterlife of some sort than to preserve my consciousness forever, or at least indefinitely, but that's just me. This particular existence hasn't been particularly fun... Thank you for the video, fun, thought provoking, and proven yet again that I've been around long enough to remember something I don't have to research, cause I remember it before the internet was the big research tool... It did make national news also I think...

    The Church of Perpetual Life is not an organic religious community. It's really more like a hobby funded by the cryonicist Bill Faloon; and it will probably go away when Faloon goes into cryo.

    The childless and often promiscous women who sign up for cryopreservation now might not like the culture of the technologically competent Future World which could revive them. It could look like a cross between _The Expanse_ and _The Handmaid's Tale,_ for example, because natural selection will favor the survival of people who are generally sexually conservative & pro-natalist.

    Transhumanism is a failed movement, and all these transhumanist organizations seem like grifter organizations looking for money from gullible rich futurist and cryos.. it's been around 30 years and the worldwide movement is just a few thousand people out of over a billion people in the western societies, only about 5,000 see themselves as transhumanist .. Isn't that evidence enough of a failed movement?

    FM-2030 also made ridiculous, falsified predictions with dates. Back around 1980 he published an essay in the long-defunct _Future Life_ magazine about how we were supposed to become spacefaring immortal superhumans by 2010.

  • @albionicamerican8806
    @albionicamerican8806 3 місяці тому

    In the real world, prominent transhumanists are seeing setbacks because their fantasies about Future World are just not coming true. Oxford University recently closed Nick Bostrom's Future of Humanity Institute after nearly 20 years, for example. And Dr. Steven B. Harris & the science fiction writer Vernor Vinge both recently died decades after making bad predictions about "nanotechnology," artificial intelligence & a technological singularity. Look up Dr. Harris's 2001 essay, "The Return of the Krell Machine," to see what I mean. What the hell was this guy tripping on when he wrote that?

    Transhuman or just human? Where are you in your human? What specific location do we reside in in our bodies? These are all relevant questions. Answers are illuminated through considering the Chinese Room thought experiment, an experiment originally created to show that computers cant be sentient (but turned out to be far more than that) I made a couple videos about it on my youtube channel

    I'm in the middle of cataract surgeries myself; got a new, artificial lens in my right eye earlier this month, and I'm scheduled for surgery on my left eye in June. So in my case the idea of getting worn-out body parts replaced isn't "transhumanism"; it is just an ordinary reality.

  • @HolyBrainBible

    Like every other animal on this planet we Human animals are evolved through thousands and thousands of years of evolution to be able to survive as best as possible in our ecological niche. Unlike all the other animals however we are aware that we going to die someday and so therefore the fear of death is something that Evolution had to deal with over thousands and thousands of years. Yes so of course Our Brains have given us the tools to deal with our fear of death. And our brains build a Death Room, a metaphorical Death Room in our minds, and in that room we put our fear of death.. the walls of this room are made out of things like religion and culture and every other fairy tale that our culture tells us like that our flag is great and that our military is great and our cops are great and everything like that.. however there is a fly in that ointment that makes up our death room and that fly is cryonics. Cryonics is an unwelcome bit of fecal matter in the punch bowl of life, because cryonics is purely materialistic and denies that there's anything after death, and that materialist ethos weakens the walls of the room

    Why call cryonics a science when is it much the same thing as embalming, which is just preserving some tissue from decay?

    • @HolyBrainBible
      @HolyBrainBible 4 місяці тому

      If a funeral home adds formaldehyde to stop the body from decaying in order to have a funeral, do you call these people scientists? And I say this as someone who has been signed up more than 25 years to have my brain frozen ...

    • @kaylawestergard-dobson1205
      @kaylawestergard-dobson1205 4 місяці тому

      embalming is definitely an act of applied science! modern embalming practices pull from chemistry, anatomy, medicine, and more. embalming also draws from artistic practices like cosmetology, which i don’t think is a facet of cryonics.

    • @HolyBrainBible
      @HolyBrainBible 4 місяці тому

      @@kaylawestergard-dobson1205I didn't say embalming was a facet of cryonics, I said it was similar to cryonics, which is simply stopping the decay of the brain after death for long term , embalming is stopping the decay of the entire body long enough to have a funeral, so they are similar, as far as cryonics being an application of science, almost everything we do in life today is an application of science.. what I was trying to say is that cryonicists try to pretend that cryonics itself is science, which is wrong

    I have an ex-girlfriend cryopreserved at Alcor, named Lisa. She was a huge Trekkie, and she probably would have loved all the Trek shows that have been in production lately. Unfortunately I don't think that a technologically competent Future World which could revive her from cryo would necessarily be to her liking, due to natural selection in favor of traditionally oriented women who want to procreate. It will probably look less like _Star Trek_ and more like a cross between _The Expanse_ & _The Handmaid's Tale,_ with some _Dune_ thrown into the mix to spice things up.

    Thanks for this. I've been a cryonicist for a long time and have listened to lots of cryonics interviews. This was the best I've ever heard. It was informative and rational. Thanks for doing this, Jacob, and thanks Kayla for providing him with the forum. We are certainly not a cult, and we're only weird in the sense that there aren't many of us. Cryonics is a much more rational approach to death than acceptance. So, it's not weird, just unusual.
