I remember when the sport pilot certification came out in 2004. We thought the lesser training requirements would double the number of pilots in general aviation. It had the inverse effect of reducing the new number of pilots to the rate of half of what it was before passage. In actuality, the only group I've seen who significantly benefitted from that were old timers who knew they could no longer pass a class 3 medical. Sport pilot with a driver's license was their way of remaining in the air. As far as aircraft manufacturers go....even if their costs get reduced to produce, don't think for a minute that their priority will be to pass on those savings to customers. As with all FAA mandates, there will always be unintended consequences. Lessening specs tend to always have a strange way of increasing compliance which can frequently drive costs up higher than their proposed intended savings. You never really know what the FAA will come up with until they actually do it. Now that the comment period is long over (I think it ended in January of 2024) Mosaic is probably not worth speculating over until they publish their actual decisions early next year.

1. Lol. Those are called tip-tanks not oval things. 2. You must not be that familiar with the G3X because this is a G500TXi. 3. That control panel is for the STec 3100 autopilot that you totally should have mentioned. It costs more than any of the Garmin displays. It doesn't control the G500TXi it works as a shortcut panel for the various AP modes. 4. Dude, that's a GTX345 transponder, not a radio. That's like $6000 by itself. 5. The G500TXi also has a GEA110 engine interface, which is a major deal. That deserved mention. 6. Also, his G500TXi has flight charts, TAWS-B, and traffic. 7. The GTN650s aren't just for "instrument" as you said. Those are the brains man. Those things are a robust combination when paired with the Garmin PFD. And they're GTN650Xi, not the straight 650s. 8. That's a baggage door, bruh. It's just for baggage, has nothing to do with back seat passengers. Passengers, do not try to ingress/egress through that hole. 9. That's not a heated wing, Mike, it's a pneumatic deice boot. Smh.

That's the G500Txi display, not the G3X. The 500Txi is the higher end display.

They're nice airplanes. They feel like a spaceship. Never had the pleasure of flying one, but there's at least 3 that come through the shop where I'm a maintainer. They're cool, but the price of cool ain't cheap. They are a bit of a maintenance nightmare. Prospective owners? Bring your deepest wallets. And be gentle on landings. Maximum braking and wheel lockup can cause oscillations severe enough to damage the structure and cause cracking around the horizontal stabilizer. There's an AD out for it if you're interested: AD 2013-11-10.

This is the same Jet trainer used to race at Reno air races. Impressive performance. However, at 400 knots, burning 180 gph, the average fuel consumption for distance is better than at slower speed. Average at higher speed is 0.39 vs 0.33 mpg.

Approach speeds…..lancair iv-p = 170 knots, 120 knots, gear down 120 base turn final 100.. what speed do you have over the numbers, at touchdown and also what is Vso and vfe? Thanks. I’m considering buying one from a guy that is getting out of aviation.
