Barry performs folk, country, and classic rock with various partners, including Rachael Jorgenson, Mickey Burnett, Kelly Hoch, throughout the Olympic Peninsula and the Northwest.
Days
One of my favorite Kinks' songs, Days, is from 1967, and like many of their songs from back then, it received little radio play in the US. Now it is probably one of their most revered songs and certainly a classic.

Just Like a Woman

From the Blonde On Blonde album in 1966, Just Like a Woman was a radio hit for Bob Dylan. People always complained about his voice, but it seemed so good with his band he used at that time. Always a favorite.
Boots of Spanish Leather

Covered by many, including Joan Baez, Boots of Spanish Leather is one of my favorite Bob Dylan songs. No harmonica here, but a second guitar or fiddle might be useful.
Positively 4th Street
Переглядів 2735 місяців тому
Positively 4th Street by Bob Dylan didn't appear on a regular album but rather a greatest hits collection. It was on the radio in Seattle in 1965 or 1966, I remember. At the time, I thought it was a "revenge" song, but now I like the humor in it.
Penny Lane
Переглядів 945 місяців тому
Penny Lane by the Beatles from 1966, with its reference to blue suburban skies seemed odd since I'd heard the climate in Liverpool was similar to that of Seattle and the northwest US where the skies are usually pewter and it rains most of the time, at least when I grew up there. Lots of chords and key changes in this one!
The Only Living Boy in New York
Переглядів 2097 місяців тому
One of my favorite Simon and Garfunkel songs, the Only Living Boy in New York was a radio hit in 1969 or 1970 and played a lot on the radio back then. The lyrics were baffling then, but Simon later explained he wrote the song to Art Garfunkel (Tom) during his budding film career.
Waterloo Sunset

Waterloo Sunset by Ray Davies is one of my favorite songs by the Kinks. From 1967 it almost sounds like it could have been on Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys from the year before.
Hey There Delilah
Переглядів 879 місяців тому
From 2006, Hey There Delilah written by Tom Higgenson was a hit for the Plain White T's. It was named one of the ten best songs of 2007, by Time magazine and has been compared to Thirteen by Big Star, another song I cover.
Lonesome Town
Переглядів 23711 місяців тому
Lonesome Town was written by Baker Knight. A hit for Ricky Nelson in 1958, it was also covered by many including Paul McCartney and the Ventures, and it was featured on the soundtrack to the film Pulp Fiction where I rediscovered it after many years.
Faraway Skies

Faraway Skies is a song by a favorite local songwriter, Dean Johnson. I changed the key to E for my voice, but I think his original is in A.
I'll Keep It With Mine

Bob Dylan's I'll Keep It With Mine is an early song and appears briefly (played on piano) in the movie Don't Look Back, filmed in 1965. I learned the song from the version by Fairport Convention.
Streets of London

Streets of London received some radio play in the US in 1975 or so. Ralph McTell said the song could be about any large city throughout the world.
America

Here is a favorite Simon and Garfunkel song from the 1968 album Bookends. Paul Simon wrote the song and likely played the acoustic guitar part.
Ain't Misbehavin'

Always liked this song by Thomas "Fats" Waller, Harry Brooks and Andy Razal. It might be an odd one to do as a solo, but the lyrics, melody and chord progression have held up well over time.
Jeremiah

Jeremiah is from Sierra Ferrell, a recent discovery with lots of good songs. This is my favorite. The lyrics sound like she's talking to a close friend or a brother.

The unknown Rocker!!!
Thank you!
Wonderful as usual, Barry and thank you. The reason I like your renditions of Dylan songs is you play and and sing them the way Dylan did. My belief is that the best version of any song is the original because that is the reason they become hits
Thanks Peter!
wonderful dear Barry😊
Thanks Dede!
That was very pretty, Barry. Excellent playing!
Thanks Claudia!

Great job!
Brilliant thank you Barry. My favourite Dylan song.
Great version.
Loved that - great job on the best Dylan song ever. Takes me back...
Keep Rockin Love It!
Peter Paul and Mary do a great cover of this song as well. Of course their version uses two guitars. I was really interested in hearing how a single player would strum it. I have sheet music for PP&M's version and this gives me hope I might one day be able to play it too.
I enjoyed it. I never succeed to memorize the chord progression
My favorite cover. Love it so much. Thank you!
Great job on this, Barry! I was singing some harmony right along with you. Enjoyed this!
