A Soldier's Journey Home (ASJH) is a group of volunteers primarily comprised of current and retired firefighters and retired veterans from over fourteen states. Over the past fifteen years, they have worked on a variety of disaster relief construction projects and now focus their charitable efforts toward severely injured veterans.
At A Soldier's Journey Home we strive to make a disabled soldiers dreams become reality. We are a group of volunteers who ignite a community to build a home specially adapted for a soldier with disabilities. Our goal is to have the community come together and help the people who have sacrificed for our country.

Starting with just a foundation, this home was built to completion in just 16 days with the keys being handed over to Taylor and his family on June 17th, 2023. Thanks to all our volunteers.

In January 2008, Army Cpl. Taylor Harter was clearing IEDs in Arab Jabour, Iraq, as a combat engineer with the 3rd Infantry Division, when his vehicle struck one buried in the road. A massive explosion ensued and Taylor was left with serious injuries. A Soldier's Journey Home is proud to select Taylor as our 2023 home recipient.

Completing their seventh build in as many years, A Soldier's Journey Home (ASJH) built this house for Pfc. Tim Andreasen in Mayfield, KY. Starting with just a foundation, this home was built to completion in just 16 days with the keys being handed over to Tim and his family on June 18th, 2022. Thanks to all our volunteers.

John Hersey High School has been involved with A Soldier's Journey Home ever since their first build in Ringgold, GA back in 2014. While their role has evolved and changed it has always provided love and support for this amazing group of volunteers.
A Soldier's Journey Home Food Prep Team

The task of feeding our volunteers each day is a daunting one. With over 100 volunteers a day, the amazing ASJH food prep team begins their task in the early mornings and often find themselves working until dark. Without this wonderful team and everything they do, these builds couldn't happen.

Each year A Soldier's Journey Home tries to do a side project in the local community in addition to our primary home build. This year, we were blessed to meet Ms. Clarissa Yarber and help her out rebuilding part of her home that was destroyed in the Dec. 2021 F4 tornado.

On December 10, 2021, Mayfield, Kentucky, was hit by an F4 tornado that destroyed a large part of the town, including the home of disabled Army veteran Tim Andreasen. Tim, his kids, and his disabled parents were inside the house when the tornado hit. Miraculously, they all survived.
