Good info
I fucking love this track almost as much as i dig the art! Much love!
Now we know about white!
Great content combined with a sublime musical taste.
Beautiful
Do you allow the umber painter to dry, before beginning the color layer?
Yes, it should dry relatively quick.
Intermediate music is too loud. It is irritating! 😫
Is you underpainting thinner liquin ? It this video all with liquin & linseed oil? Thanks
Yes. I used stand oil which is a slow drying linseed oil.
Is liquin used in early 'thin' layers of paint? Then followed by 'fat' layers using linseed oil?
@@pamelaharrison4843 Yes
it's the first time I enjoyed the music in a video from anyone,
Truthfully no music at all is preferable. Otherwise Nice!
Help on the way, nice!
Good tutorial. The music is WAY TOO LOUD compared to the parts where you talk
Like a bawss
Nice painting
I am aware the music volume is terrible. I can't edit the video and I am not making a new one, so I apologize. Hope it doesn't damage anyone's ears!
I had no issue with the music volume, maybe it is some people's speakers displaying it different.
Good demonstration! Music was cool, i know the song but was wondering who was doing it
It's okay. I usually say if you mess up, own it and you did ;)
Good video but the soundtrack was so jarring on the nerves and blasted out intermittently that it aggravated my angina!. Had to rapidly hit the volume button so spoilt the whole experience. Better luck next time...
.I agree enjoyed your explanations but the music was disturbing
Beautiful! well done 😻
Lower the music volume dude
Good start. Are you going to finish??

Same note on the music : mesh that with your voice tone and you have seamless i do enjoy the music choice , ima subscrube tho I like the Tutorial
Mainly just a comment for the algorithm not harping on you at all solid content”
Cool love the music.
I was stoked to find this channel and eager about the content but so dismayed when the music started. It's loud, annoying to try to turn it up and down so I can hear you, and it's absolutely completely unnecessary. 😥
In this technique do you use all transparent paint choices, except the white?
Great question. I used transparent red ochre when I glazed the background. I was not using transparent greens. It’s definitely something to consider.
@@andrewyoungblom3334 thank you!! And I loved the pepper!!!
Thank you!!
Muy simple ,pero fácil de entender
Oh my gosh.❣️🥰 This is so en pointe. This is one of the best explanatory oil painting videos. Thank you. You brought all the important points of painting together in a very precise, articulate, easy fashion. This makes it easy for me to understand and transfer your methods to any subject. I love that you are to the point and explain and show your methods in such concise terms. It's nice to see a shorter video. I am finally pursuing my life long dream of being an artist. Thank you so much. Please keep making videos and showing your work. It's beautiful.
Thank you so much! I’m glad it helped 😊
Every time the music starts I have to turn down the volume, and you are soft spoken so then I have to turn it up. The volume of the music would be better lower to match the volume of your voice. Otherwise, I enjoyed the demo.
I have to agree. This is a really helpful tutorial but the music was BAD. Even without the jumps in volume it was just baaad music. Most importantly though, this was a really good tutorial so thanks for sharing 👍
I was thinking the same, then I check comments and see I'm not only one.
Beautiful work.
The white part smearing on the pepper by mistake was necessary imo. Sometimes we forget that masters in their craft are still human and can make errors in judgment every now and then. Most of all you showed how to fix it should someome happen to do the same in their own artwork.
I agree with you Sakhele. We all think experts make it look so easy, but everyone has easy times and hard times - or mistakes - during a painting. Don't let it bother you. Just step back, analyze it and correct the problem. It's all part of the process.
Thanks for sharing this Andrew. I can see you start painting green color over the under paint (@5:31 mark of the video). May I please ask, did you wait until underpainting fully dry before you doing that? You mentioned that you waited until paint fully dry (@10:02 mark of video) when you glazed second time.
Yes, it is fully dry.
Great video and painting Andrew! I really appreciated your explanations and step by step approach. May I ask is using stand oil vs say linseed or poppy oil preference or do you find it glazes better? I’ve never used stand Oil before.
Thanks! Both work as slow drying mediums, just a little differently. Stand oil is way thicker than linseed. It levels as it dries to a smooth surface. You can also mix it with a solvent to thin it and speed up drying time.
@@andrewyoungblom3334 Cool. I'll have to try it sometime. i've been bouncing between using liquin a lot lately or normally just linseed oil. I can't decide if it is a big deal to switch up mediums or not painting to painting. They do feel quite a bit different, but I like the drying time of liquin but I think linseed feels better.
@@DannySabraArt I like the way oil moves too. I base my decision on how quick I want/need it to dry. The rule of thumb is fat over lean, which basically means slow drying (added oil) over fast drying (solvent, liquin, etc.).
@@DannySabraArt check out Gamblin's mediums and their guide to them Super info snd their stuff is fabulous 👌

Great job And great art
Omg this is amazing ❤😧😀
Wow your channel is growing. I got this video from recommendations. I want to show u my paintings but where?
That's cool hear! I'm on instagram @ayoungblom
Lovely art btw
Amazing!!
Great video... I liked it best at about 8:51... the white on the table was a bit too strong imo, but all in all super instructive and good music too.
Thanks! Glad you found it helpful. I agree that leaving areas of the underpainting showing through can be nice.
@@andrewyoungblom3334 I just started teaching painting at UW-Madison and I watch a lot of tutorial videos. Your teaching style is very good... clear, not too complicated but also not simplistic. Keep it up!

Underrated artist! I really hope you gain more attention
Thank you!
Amazing painting! I hope more people find your amazing work

What is band song playing while you were not talking?
Kind of sounds like woods brothers
The song is Drifter by Hippie Sabotage.
@@brianross1488 Nvm, I'm sure you meant the second song. That one is by Bela Fleck - help on the way.
Haha. Yeah u figured it out. Finally found your music credits for the video. And see that the song does have one of the Wood brothers in it. Great song
It's coming along nicely thanks
Good artwork
A quick peace of advice when making you tube videos, if your using your phone download a app called you tube studio... it will let you make thumbnails for videos
This looks insanely fun
I like the use of the photograph to help communicate the concept!
