Celebrating my 29th birthday ✨ self care day, lots of baking, and a 1920s Murder Mystery Party 🔍🎂
Thank you so much for my signed copy of Ashley Poston’s book. I love it! 😊
It was fun to look back at one of our writing sessions and the Tegan & Sara book event! 😊 These writer’s nights have been so helpful, and so much fun too. I really enjoyed your Halloween story! And I liked seeing more about the writing process that went into it. The book event and the whole day was so fun! I’m reading their other graphic novel, Jr High, and I can’t wait to read Crush too. Oh those day-after muscle pains after an intense workout! They can really throw me off and make me not want to move. Wonderful vlog, as always! 😊
bus stop in the rain is classic spooky vibes I think the fan-idol (term used loosely) relationship dynamic is an interesting one. In general, I feel like idols are best left in their own bubbles and not interacted with per se (because then you realise they're human too, with all the faults and flaws that entails)
@@romeoandthechickenfeather I love a spooky bus stop (in a story but not irl lol) Totally get what you mean! Thank you for sharing! I guess we don’t always want to see what the bubble is like after it’s popped haha
I had no idea that Tegan and Sara published books that's so cool! I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I ever came face to face with one of my role models either. I'm terrified of them letting me down because what if I built them up too much in my mind?? They are just regular people like everyone else and you know what they say never meet your heroes... but that's such a negative way to think I know lol its such a conflicting thing. Also, I love your short story idea! Such a cute concept 💖
@@patg7714 Yeah I love their book, and the graphic novels are so sweet! Aww I would hope that your role models wouldn’t let you down but I get what you mean. They are regular people, but I guess sometimes we just want to keep knowing them as what we know rather than seeing them in reality?? It’s a tricky thing! Thank you for your thoughtful comment 💕
Loved this, Nicole! Always so much fun spending time with you online and offline, can't wait for our next yummy date! ❤
@@tayao.k.2355 Thank you so much, Taya!!! Love you!!! 😘💕
Always enjoy your vlogs, whether they are writing vlogs or time-with-me vlogs! 😊 I am definitely going to look for and try ready-to-cook soup kits. I didn’t know about them before! The chocolate-y drink you had looks absolutely delicious. ☕️ Really enjoyed Puppycat’s cameos throughout the vlog as well! Especially the car air freshener with his funny pose. 🐱
@@StudioLindsay Thank you so much, Lindsay!! I love your vlogs too 💕 I think you and Chan would love the meal kits! They’re so easy and no other prep required really. And they taste great! Thank you for noticing the Puppycat cameos!! While editing they brought a smile to my face ☺️
Haha this is me when I edit my videos.. i have so many clips of me randomly doing things and when I get around to editing- I don’t have the energy anymore 😂 or sometimes it’s just too long and condensing them is a pain 😅
@@jaswriting ahahaha I am glad you can relate to the pain 😭🤣 I can be the same! Sometimes I just get so overwhelmed and lose the motivation
The Twine tool you've mentioned sounds super interesting! I'll have to look into it, thanks for sharing about what you learned in that video game writing class!
@@JulieBrg my pleasure! I haven’t worked with Twine yet but I look forward to experimenting in the future! 😊
hurricane milton wiped out my power and i've been so sad missing all my favorite youtuber's videos so even though it's draining my battery, i'm so happy to watch this video 🫶 i always look forward to these uploads, it reminds me that writing isn't as daunting of a task as it seems, because every writer shares that struggle(self doubt and all) keep at it, we'll always be here to watch 💞
@@kitsuvil I can’t tell you how much this means to me, thank you!! I hope you and all your loved ones have stayed safe, I can’t imagine what it’s like to go through a hurricane. Sometimes we just have to take writing one step at time (but that can be very hard to remember). Thank you so so so much!! 💕💕💕
I definitely want to see how you create a murder mystery birthday party!!! Tbh my theory about YT is: a lot of people watch videos for the vibes/creator, so even if they make a video outside their "usual," people will still watch.
@@romeoandthechickenfeather Yay!! Thank you for letting me know, that video will be coming sometime in the future once I get around to it! Thank you so much, I really appreciate that you are here and watching my videos! Your comments always mean a lot (but no pressure ever)! ☺️
Letting you know that I'm here! I find your vlogs super comforting to have on while I'm working; your sincerity and warmth make you one of my fav Authortubers! :)
@@littledove440 thank you so much!! Reading your comment made my day. I really appreciate the kind words! 💕And it’s an honour to keep you company while working hehe
@ aw yay! 🪷
The cooking kit looks really cool!
YOU STILL HAVE THE BIRTHDAY DEATH BOARD🤭🤭
@@squaretiresart I do!! And it’s still up 😭😭🤣🤣
I feel like a go from “I write every day!” To “oof-I haven’t written for a month (or more)” regularly. Last night I set a goal for myself of writing 650 words/day until I start grad school in November! Hopefully it’s a goal I can stick with 😅
Thanks for sharing your writing goals, Nicole! I’m so excited to work on and eventually read our Halloween short stories in writer’s group! 🎃 I also find that challenges or structured plans propels my writing forward, but I think it’s best that I go back and forth between pushing myself for a bit and then taking it slow instead of having a consistent writing routine. I also think it’s good to take a break from writing when needed to focus on other things. The writing will always be there when we return, and we are still writers in the meantime. ✏️
Always look forward to your videos! You used such a beautiful notebook! (I get too "scared" to use such nice ones.) I've found the key to getting myself to work on the second draft of my story is to read. As soon as I start reading, I'll get the motivation to write. As for scheduling... if I skip one day, I feel like I've failed entirely. So having set deadlines doesn't work for me. (Also, those hobo mainichi dairies are cute but expensive lol... and I live in Japan!)
@@romeoandthechickenfeather I always look forward to your comments! 😊Thank you so much though, it means a lot and I appreciate you being here! I think nice things are meant to be used! Like candles too and it’s a “waste” to not use them haha! We should enjoy them while we can even if it is messy. A friend gave me the notebook so I know she’d want me to use it! Reading is a good motivator! I know what you mean about the scheduling and when you miss a day how it feels like a failure 😢 so far doing this scheduling but treating it more like a to-do item rather than an “event” has worked well! If I miss it one day, I just move it to the next. The Hobonichis are a splurge! But I have to say they’re very high quality. And I got a good price for buying them later in the year 🤣 The shipping to Canada is something else 😭 you are lucky to be in Japan!
@@timewithnicole I find with notebooks it helps to get the first mistake out of the way - then I can let go a bit haha Thinking about it as a to-do is a good idea. So much diary choice here! I buy my mum a dairy every year and send it back to her. It's always shocking to see how much more expensive Japanese products are when they've been imported to other countries (though overall the cost of living is very cheap here)
If you really start repeating thoughts, you can begin to change your life to a tremendous degree
@@AttractionAlchemy33 thank you!
ive been struggling like crazy to get any sort of writing done! However, I find that during October and Novemeber when everyone is coming together as a community for writing challenges really gives me a boost of motivation and sense of community! you've been my little boost of motivation for today, thankyou!💖
I feel the same way!
@@patg7714 I hope you get some writing done!! I’m glad I could motivate you! 💕 October and November are great months to write in, I’ve met so many lovely people during those months! Looking forward to writing more then!!
@@EmmaBennetAuthor me too! 💕
I’ve historically been a pantser in every aspect of my life, but I recently started making daily lists as well and I’ve found a lot more time for creativity by adding that simple structure! I’m more of a plantser than I thought lol
@@alissathewriteway the little bit of structure has been working well for me so far! Maybe I also am a bit of a planster after all 😅 thank you for sharing! I love daily lists 💕
seems very delicious i wanna cook right away
Hope you enjoy it!! 😊
In most cases, I also can’t write unless my space is clean. The balance I’m trying to find is how clean exactly it needs to be before I write, otherwise I’m doing a deep clean of the entire apartment and procrastinating the writing. 😅 Really enjoying our writing group of three and excited to see what we’ve all accomplished by the end of the year! 😊
I'm the same with my space!
It can be so easy to use cleaning as a reason to procrastinate, I do it more often than I should 😅 Thank you for sharing! I'm really enjoying our writing group too!! And I'm looking forward to all of our future writing accomplishments too!
Romancing the Beat is my writing bible! So happy I bought it bc it helped me a lot in terms of writing the beats. I was a pantser but I’ve become a plantser since reading the book lol
I've been loving Romancing the Beat!! There is hope for me of becoming a plotter now 🤣
Beginnings are difficult. I feel like each project has at least one false start - you start too early, or too complicated, or the main character isn't active enough (that was my issue). Good luck with your second (?) draft! It's easier to continue than it is to start (though you wouldn't know from my writing progress recently OTL)
Beginnings are difficult and often daunting! Thank you for your words, right now I feel like my new beginning is a bit over complicated, but I guess that'll be what the later editing is for 😅 Thank you for the well wishes on my first (??) draft (I'm continuing what I wrote in NaNoWriMo but also rewriting it, maybe it is better to call it a second draft) Hope you can get some good writing progress in soon!!
Agreed! I'm glad it's not just me with the false starts!
Im so glad to see more writertubers!! This keeps me accountable and good luck with your writing (new sub here!!)
Yay!! It's nice to meet you and thank you for being here 😊💖 fellow writertubers also help keep me accountable too!
I can write when there's clutter, but it's def easier to not have 'I need to clean up' in the back of my head while writing so relatively neat or clean (or...just the mess being, ahem, out of sight lol) is helpful. I'm glad the writing session with friends helped ('it's not perfect, but it's there' is such a great mentality and I def need to do better to keep that one in mind for myself)!
Out of sight out of mind is how I treat my mess sometimes 😅 Hope you'll be able to write imperfectly, and just get it down!
I love the gentle vibes of your videos, it's so cozy <3
Thank you so much, this is such a lovely compliment 💕
Hi Nicole! Wonderful writing vlog as always, with cozy and inspiring chats and aesthetic shots and editing techniques. ✨ Your writing vlogs often include helpful advice or reminders I and many other writers need to hear. Today it was a reminder that writing is fun. I’m trying to write myself out of a slump as you know, and this was such a good reminder. It’s a hobby, it’s creative, and it’s so much fun. Go Team 3rd Place! Congratulations on getting 1st, and I love the “3” necklaces you made. Our weekly writing sessions have been so helpful for me too. My book wouldn’t be where it is right now without them. And I like catching up with you every week too! 😊 Excited for the next chapter of writer’s night!
Thank you so much, Lindsay! This is a comment I will keep close to my heart. Thank you for always making me feel seen. And I'm so glad we can be writing together 🥰
Looking forward to following you on this next project! 😊Loved what you said "it's not perfect, but I showed up" I think I'm going to adopt that 😆
Showing up is important even if it's a bit messy 🤣 thank you for being here!!
Glad to see more writing updates. Congrats on trivia night🎉🎉
Thank you!! Happy to be sharing more writing updates!
I love the takeaway of not waiting for perfection to get the work done! And to be gentle with yourself! 🤗
Thank you so much, Valerie! It is a good to keep in mind but hard to do sometimes 😊
I discovered your channel through this video. It's a wonder we didn't run into each other at a bookstore. Happy Reading!
Maybe we'll see each other in a bookstore in the future! ☺ thank you and happy reading to you too!
Happy Birthday! I'm glad you had a great time 😊
Thank you so much!! 😊
I've only been to New York twice but my favorite part was walking across the Brooklyn bridge. I just kept going back for more 🤣
Walking across the bridge was a delight! There's so much to see as you walk by, I'd love to walk across it again sometime!!
Big congratulations on completing your visual novel and making one of your dreams come true! 🎉🎉🎉 I had so much fun experiencing it, and I really liked seeing the videos showing your process. Thank you for inviting me to celebrate with you over afternoon tea- such a perfect way to celebrate the story being published. I really like all the cherry blossom footage, too! 🌸
Thank you so much, Lindsay!! I am so glad you got to be a part of the celebration, you dressing up also made it feel so much more special!! I can't wait to celebrate your work in the future too 💖 It was nice being able to see the cherry blossoms again through video for me too hehe 🌸
congrats! this looks so cool!
Thank you!! 😊
congrats on completing your visual novel!
Thank you so much!! 💖
Ah, congratulations! I was wondering if you completed it (within the time limit or outside it) and whether you were going to make it public. I'm glad you have done! It's so strange seeing translated Japanese books - I didn't realise how successful they/the authors must be. Japanese fiction definitely has it's own flavour. (they are great at making 'nothing' interesting lol)
Thank you so much!! 💖 I did end up completing it in March (though it has its fair share of typos haha). But I'm really glad I got it done in the end too! I feel like the translated Japanese books have become really popular recently, or maybe I'm just more aware of them. I've found the ones I've read so far to be nice chill breaks in between more thrilling reads. You are so right about them making the 'nothing' aspect of day to day life interesting 🤣
Wow! Love it, Nicole! ❤
Thank you!! 😊💖
Yay! A double-upload day! 😊 It’s so cool to see your process, especially after playing your visual novel. (Can’t wait to experience it again on UA-cam!) I liked seeing your original artwork for Poppy and Marigold and the visual charts for different ways the visual novel could go. All of your artwork is fantastic, and I was also happy to help with the questions you had. Thanks for the shout-out! 😊 Haha, I’ll have to check out the “Girl Dinner” song. I do the same thing when it’s just me making dinner. Can’t wait for the final vlog!
My first double upload! 😁 Thank you again for your help with the suggestions, and for your support along the way with this project!! It was interesting to me too to see how my charts for the story path worked out in the end. And the "Girl Dinner" meme is quite funny and relatable 😉😊
Amazing!!! 💜👏💖
Thank you so much!!! I hope you're doing well! ✨💖😊
Such a great project!❤
Thanks Emma!! It was a great project! 💖
i didn't realize how into it i was until i started getting my own suspicions and it was such a joy honestly, time zoomed by so much quicker than i expected while watching! while i can't play my own way through the game, this was incredibly entertaining and i often found myself relating to the character you play as 🫶 i'll never look at lemons the same again, i think
I'm so glad it was engaging and that you enjoyed it, your comment means a lot! 😊🍋 I hope to make more with the player character in the future!
Thats awesome you did this!!! CONGRATS on doing it!
Thank you so much!! 😀
Is that a Uniqlo pink fluffy fleece I see? (I have the same colour!) I think the bottle is what gives it olive oil vibes lol (and also the colour - so I guess pretty much everything 😂) I'm sorry your pain flared up. It's so cool to feel like you could write to the ends of the earth and to lose that because of pain sucks ): I LOVE THE COLOURS and the way it's shaded! Will you make the VN public at some point? Also, I think you can track how much/whether I'm writing by how soon I watch and comment on writing videos 😆
It is exactly that sweater!! I also have one in a dark teal, it's fun that we match! Thank you for the feedback on the olive oil bottle lol, everything but the viscosity of the liquid is very olive oil vibes 😂 I got my writing moment back despite the pain but it did suck in the moment. I also saw your other comment which I'll be responding to soon, but as you know, yes it's public! I have another video of a playthrough/readthrough of the VN and it can be found here: quietdoole.itch.io/tea-for-two-twin-blooms You are pretty consistent with checking in with me, so you must be quite consistent with your writing 😊😉
This is so, so cool!!!!
Thanks Emma!! 🥰

You're doing great (: Wishing you the best as you continue to write!
Thank you so much for your kind wishes!! 🥰
loved this video :)
thanks Emily!! 😊
It’s so cool to see your process and how you planned everything out! I love it when great ideas form as we’re out moving and doing everyday activities. I love the visual cues and the background that you made in this video! And I had so much fun writing with you that month. Excited for more videos and writing sprints! ☕️😊
Thank you so much, Lindsay!! It was fun to look back on this footage to see what had changed as I was working on it 😊☕✨
