@RiverDanube Yes the ideas are very similar 😁 I love M&S, I think they do great food options and keep their brand updated with new things and keep around the old favourites. May be we'll try the Afternoon tea here again, but not anytime soon.

@myjulie60 I agree the outlook is worth the price. Though not the best fish and chips the sights of the pier and sea are lovely.

@@MarkandKellys agree.. but have to say the best fish & chips I’ve ever had were in Whitstable. Loads of oyster stalls for Mark there.

This one was very good value for money, we could have ordered 2 afternoon teas here, and that still would have been less expensive than the others we've had😂 However, it's so good to review all these afternoon teas and show a real range of what's on offer.

This one was different and we liked the room where the tea was held and the pianist playing gave it a nice vibe. I would consider going here again to sample a different Afternoon Tea

This was a nice place, and the theme was great, but the fillings in the sandwiches were so thin, plus no refills of the sandwiches which I think they should have done at least one extra round. I would go here again if some things were changed, but not for a long time.

Yeah the views from the Shard are stunning while we did enjoy the afternoon tea here. We wanted to experience something vastly different to the other ones we've been to.

You are right that the service charge effectively bumps up the price to £90. We like to show the bill at the end of our videos, so you know exactly what you are being charged. Service charge can effectively end up being a very pricy tip! We did like the range of sandwiches F&M offer, and the pea and mint go well together. The chicken is not to everyone's taste I agree! @RiverDanube Interesting, I was thinking it could be that the creme anglaise might have seeped through making the case soft, but yes might not have been baked enough, I can't imagine they were out of the freezer, though I could be wrong. The cream and jam were very good. I definitely think Bread Ahead should use that jam for one of their doughnut flavours. It would be by far their best doughnut if they did😋

I've been to Herne Bay a few times, it's lovely there, we'll definitely go again at some point.

Yeah, I prefer fish and chips too, I don't mind mussels freshly cooked in Garlic butter, but such a hassle to eat out of the shells so I don't bother 😅

Hi @karend4243 thank you😊 Yes, you can replenish sandwiches, cakes, and scones here it's a great place. Yes, whatever you don't finish, they will box up and let you take it home. Mark and I have been going here for years the staff and hotel are are very nice😊 Oooo coming to London for the first time, we hope you have so much fun there's so many things to do you might not be able to fit it all in! I understand, but there are so many other places that do a good brunch, which isn't all you can eat and more reasonably priced. At some point, we can try those ones out if that is something you'd like to see in the future 😊

No, you don't have to finish it all, and you can choose whatever you'd like from what is available on the day. And you don't have to have the main if you don't want it. That's the beauty of buffet. You can try as much or as little as you want, all for the same price.😊 And the food is delicious here😋

We adore M&S, we feel the food section is so good. The afternoon tea is very affordable and good value for money

Not for me, but Mark and my mum really enjoyed them. Cucumber is definitely not my thing 😂

@shadowguard3578 The cost for Afternoon Tea these days is very high. We're not sure why, we just thought on this occasion that the service at F&M and sandwiches, amongst other things, did not match the high price, and without the slice of cake, we weren't sure why there was such an increase in fee for diminished fare. There are other Afternoon Teas to try. You should definitely go again. It's such a nice experience when you find the right one😊

Oooo one tea bag of basil, that is interesting, can I use fresh or dried basil rather than a tea bag?

@@MarkandKellys I was recommending Basilur (a Ceylon black tea brand) but suspecting you may have Indian food appreciation, fresh Holy Basil, Cinnamon Basil, or Lemon Basil that you can grow in a flower pot on your window sill are amazing brewed with black or green tea. I would put any extra in a bag and freeze them for the winter. Basil tea is absolutely fabulous with Indian food and a panacea in Ayurvedic medicine.

Friends that I've made over the years always promise me they will make/bring me some, but to this day, I've still not tried any. I'm sure I'll get to try some in the near future 🤗

However, on this occasion, it didn't meet the standards that we are used to from this establishment. We usually open some sandwiches in order to show viewers what they can expect in the amount of filling and how pleasant/unpleasant these look. This is our style to give a full all-round review. However, I can appreciate this may not be to everyone's taste.

Thank you 😊 I wonder if one or two larger chain hotels in the US does afternoon tea? I remember in Las Vegas they did one, and there was one place in Disney World that did one, which they might be bringing back soon. I feel the UK pavilion in Epcot have missed a real trick not offering afternoon tea, maybe one day they'll do that. I hope you get to try it one day🤗

Hey Saintcot, yes my mum did enjoy it thanks. We went to the food hall and bought her some of the Rachel cheese that was in the sandwiches she loved.

I had Tea there a few years ago. I found the lamps on the tables were all dirty. I wrote to them but no response. We got sandwiches to take home. However, I found it unpalatable for her to be opening up the sandwiches. That was a turn off while watching your video. I think that F&M catering to the tourist coming in shirts and grungy clothes maybe the reason why the standard is not befitting of this once famous Tea Room. Yes it's expensive. I would not go there for tea again when next I visit London.

They too are expensive, we have been there a few times and while the dress code is strict and not 'catering to the tourist coming in shirts and grungy clothes' the Ritz with it's traditional afternoon tea may be more suited to your dress code expectations.
