This is a media platform that is dedicated to the reseach industrial history in Australia, with a specific focus on railways, electricity, mining, water infrastructure. Although railways will be a major focus, it is clear that they do not exist in isolation. For example railways are an integral component of the supply chain in mining processes and they are often powered by electricity, which can be generated by water power. Roads and railways are also important to farming and the timber industries, hence the site will also cover antique farm machinery and general road transport. Although this site is devoted to the history of mining, it aims to remain neutral in the climate change debate.

I enjoyed the Tin Hares and the Sputnik's too, great little collection Stephen, well done.
Thank you, you're welcome, all the best
2:30 621/721 out on a run to celebrate the *Rail Motor Society* 40th Anniversary. Sadly I missed out on a ride that day....... awwwww geeeee! LOL
I waited for the return trip from Wallarobba, but I wasn't happen with the scene and took a punt and departed to change locations, then the train turned up, never mind.....
@@australiasindustrialage689 I've been on a few rides with the Tin Hares when they went only as far as the Wallarobba Passing Loop. These days they go all the way up to Dungog.
@@neilforbes416 I think they did go to Dungog now that I think of it
@@australiasindustrialage689 They did, eventually. At first the Tin Hares went only to Wallarobba Passing Loop, then later all the way to Dungog. On my *Trams & Trains* channel I have videos of going only as far as Wallarobba PL as well as all the way to Dungog, and also videos of the return to Paterson from both locations.
1:07 When did you take this shot? If it's when I think you took it, then it would've been when CPH-3 was having issues with its gears(I think). I way well have been on board this trip.
Hi Neil, If it was the opening scene I think it was the 9/1, the date is on the video. I tried to use a shot of it featured on the video, but the scene was the wrong proportions, so it didn't work.
@@australiasindustrialage689 Them's the breaks!
Great pictures thank you, Happy new year Stephen.🎆🎉🎊🍺🍾🍷🥂🥳
And that goes also from me! Cheers, Stephen. PS - Keep watch for the Richmond Vale Railway Museum, they may be reopening sometime in 2025.
You're very kind, all the best mate
Beautiful video 👍🏻
Now that level crossing clanger (at start of video) was one I have not heard in NSW before, very unique chime. Enjoyed your coverage of the "90" class Stephen as we don't get them out west, Hunter Valley loco.
Your videos are great l love every single one
Thank you for your kind words, I appreciate it
Are u actually from NSW 0:30
Are u actually from NSW
Why would you doubt it? 99% of my footage is NSW, it would be very expensive to travel here if I wasn't
👍👍👍👍🍺
Fabulous footage - the locations are spectacular. I grew up on the north coast and was always fascinated by the freight trains in and around Coffs and points north
Thank you, I appreciate the feedback
fantastic job keep up the good work
Thanks Frank
I love our great Australian trains on home soil.
Wonderful pictures on the beautiful north coast thanks Stephen.🍻
Absolutely magnificent countryside, love hearing the birds and amazing the different freight carried on those trains.
Thanks Ian, You're very kind, I love the Nth Coast line for the very reasons you pointed out
8149 & 8230 had bulk sugar wagons at the front with powdered cement pods behind them. Nice work Stephen and great variety.
Great value Stephen, something for everyone in that parade, cracking stuff and much enjoyed, good work!
You're very kind!
I remember working those 40 class on the north in the sixties cold and draughty not much power.
Great thanks Stephen.🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃☕🍩
You're very kind, thank you
The train sounded amazing + great trackside footage. Good work
Thank you I appreciate it
Ngl 4001 should be used more often
Most certainly, it is in some ways an honoury steam loco that is very underutilised. The trouble is that the folk at THNSW do not know the history of the Model-RSC3 and what a pivotal role the related RS3 played in the early stages of dieselisation, particularly in the USA. Another issue is that it is unreliable, but this does not mean it should be so. My grandfather was a leading-hand fitter in the early days at Delec and he spoke well of the 40 Class. Moreover, the Lousiville & Nashville also spoke well of their Alcos, especially the RS3s. I would such that their wows stem from the inexperience of the staff as many have rarely if even worked on Alcos. Their experience would be many on EMD and GE with some Alcos.I stand to be corrected though.
@australiasindustrialage689 Interesting and imo opinion it would be the perfect loco to haul the loopline trains in the summer.
I have a strong dislike for the number two end of the 421 class, they should have done a Victorian Railways "B" class number two end which would have looked nicer. Great coverage Stephen, and excellent audio pick up, nice work.
Thanks for comment
And seeing 👀 the southern aurora as well 😊❤
Luv the pure engine sounds of these classic emds
The Newell h/way nothing but "TRUCKS".😁🚚🚛
It's not too bad by day, but certainly the case at night. While I dod like trucks, I do agree that they are a problem, hopefully Inland Rail will resolve it
@@australiasindustrialage689 Well said Stephen reopen all the NSW rail network cheers Bob.🍺
Nice video. Greetings from Germany, Andreas
Thank you, you are very kind
A nice little video thanks for the memories I worked the aurora and the spirit with the 421 class great 👍 loco who owns these now?
You're very kind, They are mostly owned by private individuls
@@australiasindustrialage689 "ChumRail" (a private individual) owns 42103 & 42105, I forget who owns 42101.
Amazing footage of the 421’s
Thanks mate, you're very kind
Great video mate
Thank you, you're very kind
Thanks Stephen for the great pictures, Are the silver coaches ex southern aurora carriages?.🍻
My word yes! I appreciate your comment
what a great video Stephen, lovely to see the Southern Aurora still travelling .cheers David.
Yes, as was the Brisbane Ltd and GC Motorail, sad when they went.
Yikes, I'm sure I saw movement in the bridge East of Premer (2.35). Great video 😃👍
Nice pictures thanks Stephen, Are they ever going to reopen the rest of the line from Thirlmere to Mittagong.👍👍👍👍🍺
My word, Thirlmere to Colo Vale , the way it looks will be open for 2025
@@australiasindustrialage689 Not all the way to Mittagong?.
As you would probably be aware, they were essentially a RS3 with two additional axles, hence RSC-3. They were mainly used on loco-hauled trains in Nth America and hence, they also did well on passenger services in NSW. The RS3 was a better pulling engine, due to the absence of the idle mid axle. Thanks for your comment
❤❤❤❤GREAT VID alot of history passing the camera very nice 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
You're very kind.
Atkinson near the start & green B model Mack with the dozer only ones were in my pick
I was going to use the Mack as my title page, I used the Kenworth because it had the string of trucks behind it, thus fitting the theme better. Nonetheless that old Mack is beautiful
A wonderful parade thanks Stephen, Is it a annual event? cheers Bob.👍👍👍👍💯🍺🍺
Amen, yes it is a tremendous experience. I'd love to get there again, but unfortunately rising living costs are eating into my savings.

Thank you all these bridge's will be gone one day .like they did in the manning a round taree
Oh, damn. I was expecting a different Morpeth!
Most of the descriptions on this video are NOT UP LONG ENOUGH TO READ!!!!!!!
Yes I apologise for that, I hope to re-do that video in the future, which will hopefully remedy that problem
Tumulla bank is fabulous scenery too.
It's an amazing place!
Can there be a tougher looking loco?
Not in Australia, but there are numerous locomotives overseas, including Garratts on the African continent that outperform the 60 Class. Nonetheless they are most certainly a spectacular engine.
@@australiasindustrialage689 Yes, I know the EAR 59s and the SAR GLs had way more power but neither look as good as the 60. The 59 comes close and the GL is as ugly as sin.
@@davidrayner9832 Fair enough, That's a matter of opinion that you are entitled to, to be honest, I admire the African designs, but I do agree that the NSW design is exceptional. I just wanted to quash the common myth that the 60 Class is the most powerful in the Southern hemisphere.
@@australiasindustrialage689 I don't know that anyone thinks they were. In fact, the 60s were a little underdone in my opinion but that's because they were intended to be a branchline loco. Had they been intended for mainline use, they could've weighed 400 tons on their 16 axles and with a 300 psi boiler, had far greater power. In fact, that the contract was cancelled before the 50 were built tells us they should never have been built with the coming of the diesels but of all the monumental blunders the NSWGR has made, I forgive them that one.
@@davidrayner9832 Well stated
Dude slow the text so people can read it
Thanks for your comment, yes that is a weakness of some of my videos. I'm planning to re-do this video and fix some of the errors.
