If that sounds like ‘cult classic’ to you then don your leather waders and grab your geetar as Uisdean and Darren hit the neon-drenched streets of Walter Hill’s underrated classic.

Judge Dredd / Dredd - Double Bill Review
Good video fellas. I had a good time with longlegs. I'd say its the creepiest movie of the year so far but the bar this year isn't set all that high.
Glad you liked it. I was hoping for much more and that was without seeing the marketing (which I mostly avoided). There’s some nice elements in there but as a horror it fell completely flat for me I’m afraid. Thanks for watching and commenting though.
good review but sound mixing!! try turning up your mic gain or turn down the trailer audio 😵💫
Thanks man. I did notice our mics were a bit lower on this episode (not sure why). I did adjust everything but maybe not enough. Thanks for watching.
Anyone who knows me, knows how much and how long I was waiting for this film. It is good for a slow moving detective thriller, but I assure you there are no parts in this movie that are as suspenseful or dreadful as the trailers themselves. I went with four people and none of us were ever scared at any point of the movie. The trailers are misleading iMO. One of the scariest parts of the trailer is the girl seeing Longlegs at the store counter. In the movie, that scene was almost laughable. Zero dread, zero tension and it kind of made long legs less scary from that point after. So disappointed!
@@richardhaller6537 Totally agree. The hardware store scene was such a wasted opportunity. A good performance there could have been really skin crawling but it was just dumb and funny (as in laughing at, not with). The detective elements were certainly better but just didn’t fit in over all with the (supposed) horror elements. Thanks for your comment.
Started off pretty strong in the beginning. The "hype" definitely killed it for me. The movie would've been better off with vague trailers, and creepy marketing, but blew their load when they started saying how scary it was.
@@Nos_Reviews Indeed. In terms of scares, or even just a bit of dread I felt totally underwhelmed. I managed to avoid most of the hype to be honest but even that didn’t elevate my experience. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Plus the cinematography is amazing.
It sure is, very cool looking movie!
Also if knives are out then… what? guns are “boring” for slasher movies cause they’re too quick. I wonder what she had in mind…😈
Well Chucky does engage in petrol bombs and a sort of makeshift nail bomb/booby trap whilst Tiff kills two with a bottle of champers and a ceiling mirror. Not too shabby.
30 hours of pain all for you
Can't imagine the remake will be as powerful as the original.
Martha Stewart can kiss my plastic butt 😅😅😅

Nice review, thats the first movie i ever saw, found it stacked away in an old box, the ending was crappy😂
Thank you for watching! Yeah seemed to be quite a few downer endings in HK action movies from the 80s. Great one for your first movie!
Where was the original poll posted? I didn't see it - I would've voted for 'Favourite over-7 hours Bela Tarr movie'
It was a UA-cam community poll which you can find on our homepage. Hopefully the community posts will appear in your UA-cam feed. Are you requesting that we review Sátántangó?!

Good job, boys. Rather than making this a joke with both hosts just laughing, both hosts had interesting takes, intelligent discussions about the fight scenes, the dialogue, the script, and shots. I love the laid-back vibe both of you have. It creates this old-school 80s film review. Well done, lads.
Thanks very much. There’s plenty to laugh at in this film for sure but there’s a lot to appreciate as well and at the end of the day it’s very entertaining (for the right and wrong reasons). Thanks for watching and commenting. We appreciate it.
I cant hear what the guy on the left is saying... what kind of weird english accent is that? Like this whole video is weird too.
Well, thanks for watching anyway. I’ll keep working on my “English accent”.
Being from Scotland myself, our accent is strong and not a lot of people can understand it 😅
@@LiamSmith-sx2bp I thought I knew scottish accent (from movies and such), but this was on another level : P
@@grimmer2005 The movies don’t do us justice. If English isn’t your first language, then yeah, it’s a challenge. And if English IS your first language……then yeah, it’s still a challenge.

I hate Prometheus ....like a lot. I was looking forward to that like Phantom Menace. I'm not watching Romulus because of that film. I finally saw Covenant just last year. It sucked too. Holy crap Ridley, they were creatures that were fossilized not Albinos in suits!! Did you rewatch the 79 film? You know ...the film you directed?
Eric, you are a man after my own heart. Couldn’t have said it better myself. Nothing will ever crush like The Phantom Menace mind you. But Prometheus had a good go anyway. The Space Jockey should have remained a mystery. It has sort of tainted the original film now.
I liked it but apparently some people in America are worried that Trumps supporters might get ideas from the film. Ie this is what they could achieve 😂 great to hear your thoughts. KD was brilliant in it.
I think it did pretty well in letting you see what you wanted to see. I would have liked it to maybe be a little braver in that regard but good to see a film like this on the big screen. Will definitely watch it again when it’s released.
TRES Film Noir!!
Un des meilleurs!
Canadian here. First comment?? Fuck yeah, bruv! I love this film. Our dollar is WORTH something!! Great review, loved the commonwealth accents made me feel right at-home. New subscriber gained.
Yeah, I figured that line in the film would go down well in certain territories. Thanks for watching and thanks for the sub. Much appreciated.
Yes madam is a classic Hong Kong action movie with a vengeance way much better than the so called American action imitation and Hollywood knockoffs courtesy of Arnold Schwarzenegger,Sylvester Stallone, mel Gibson and Bruce Willis who rely on autoaim when that cannot hit a target practice Rest in peace Richard Ng and Meng hoi Hong Kong legends never die
The final action sequence is one that is very rarely matched!
I dig your style gents! great video.
Hi Chris. Thanks very much. Appreciate you taking the time to watch it.
Way much better than the so called American action imitation and American knockoffs courtesy of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson and Chuck Norris who rely on autoaim When they fire a weapon they also deliver ridiculous punch lines and catchphrases
American action films can certainly be entertaining on many levels but watching Hong Kong action films from the 80s can feel like a breath of fresh air! Incredible action sequences.
I'll be back...
Awesome!

Way much better than the so called Hollywood imitation and terrible American knockoffs
There is so much to enjoy in this film and the series as a whole!
You felt underwhelmed coming out of Dune Pt. 2? Jesus, that movie was a cinematic masterpiece
In all honesty it’s partly this kind of hyperbole that set my expectations too high going into it. I get why you feel that way and it’s certainly a good film but it’s just not wholly for me.
@@woodshedreviews great films can't be for everyone
@@cbrumley317 An impressive film in many ways but yeah, no one film can please all. Thanks for viewing and commenting.
I fell asleep with this one and never got around to watching it again. You must be getting fed up with me bombarding your video's with comments by now. Hahaha. 😂. The ORIGINAL office though. Perfection in my opinion. I think all gervais stuff is outstanding.
Office Space is definitely worth a watch! Yeah Gervais as made some cracking stuff, especially appreciated the After Life series - UM
Another epic film with a sad back story
Very true. Such a perfect film.
@@woodshedreviews yeah mate. You know I think we would have a very very long conversation about films like. Hahaha. Oh i liked your Facebook aswell. Every little help's mate. Ha
(Reasons T2 should be in 2nd place )- it's just a rehash of T1. Arnold should have killed people before meeting John, because he's a Terminator. And the T1000 should have never caught Sarah if you're not gonna kill her. (Reasons it should be in 1st place )- It's friggin awesome! They substitute the sex scene with the Dyson scene, which is brilliant. And the hospital rescue scene.
You are absolutely correct on all counts. I think it’s the toughest two films to pick a favourite with for me. Both classics in their own very different ways. That’s a good point about The Terminator not acting like a Terminator at the start of the film. I’ll put it down to Arnie’s ego at the time.
@@woodshedreviews yeah, no wrong answers 😄
Can't actually believe this but when i 1st went to watch prey i genuinely didn't know it was a predator film. Hahaha. I love the collage and the predator target T-shirt. Haha. Good video yet again boys. Keep up the good work. 👍
Thank you 😎 yeah that must have been a great way to watch Prey.
You guys so dank and I love it so much. 😅😅😅😅❤❤ the glasses. Classic lads
Cheers D-Max. Appreciate the love. Have you seen all the films? What’s your favourite? - Darren
Nice one lads. Love this. T2 is in my top 5 favs of all time. Haha. You guys from the north east? Ive subscribed anyway boys. Look forward to watching more.
Hi Sean. Thanks for watching and subscribing. We appreciate it. I agree with you about T2. Absolute classic. I (the one on the left) am indeed from the North East and that is where we broadcast from. We’ve also ranked the Alien and Predator films and there’s lots of other reviews should the need take you. Thanks again. - Darren
Maybe am late to the party here and you already have done a video on this subject but have you ever done or considered a Vietnam war movie rating video?? You have a good few there. Apocalypse now, the deer hunter, platoon, hamburger hill, full metal jacket and maybe even good morning Vietnam. Am sure am forgetting an another big one there.
The film you’re missing is obviously….Air America. Which I rewatched recently. It’s okay. I think you’ve covered all the big ones there (Casualties of War maybe? -need to rewatch that) but that would be a tough list to put in any kind of order but we will definitely consider it.
@@woodshedreviews i actually haven't even heard of those films. Il need to check them out.
@@woodshedreviews it is actually a tough one but am sure you boys would love a challenge. 😂
Nice video. The shot of the private detective falling down the stairs was achieved using rear projection. The producers wanted Jamie Lee Curtis for the role of Mary, but she turned it down. I prefer watching part II in black and white. I also recommend this strategy when watching Godzilla films. Toning down those god awful set and costume colors makes them seem more serious (the exception of course being "Godzilla vs Hedorah" aka: "The Smog Monster" where the colors were an integral part of the visuals
Thank you! Yeah that is a cool use of rear projection, very effective. I can imagine Psycho II looking quite nice in B&W.
Great review and discussion! I was thoroughly entertained by this film.
Thanks for watching. Yeah it was an unexpected treat to end the year after a number of big franchise disappointments.
Good review. I don't think we should abandon the more "Godzilla" Godzilla movies for this more serious approach. Let's just have both.
Indeed. A serious Godzilla film does not necessarily mean a good one but in this case it lines up. Hopefully the takeaway from Minus One will be better written characters and appropriate levels of action going forward. Thanks for watching.
