Where do you go in Italy to enjoy the radiant sun, glorious seashores, and fantastic food? One of my favorite places for Italian summer vacation is, of course, Liguria! This region stretches from the French border to the edge of Tuscany and has a beautiful Mediterranean climate, which means hot and sunny summers, mild winters, and moderate rainfalls. Despite its small size, Liguria is only the ...

Discover with Filippo Bartolotta, Mamablip's sommelier, the characteristics of Lugana Tardiva: more "experimental", far from the sweet viscosity of a traditional passito. The richer and more concentrated dried grapes give Lugana a tendentially "late" profile, softer and denser, but not excessively sweet, where the residual sugar is effectively balanced by acidity. Vendemmia Tardiva is ideally m...

    The 2014 vintage smells like poop but in a good way. Very traditional brunello. Complex and very much story telling. Lots and lots of red fruits mixed with barnyard accords in good ways, very long finish. I’m 94 pts on that effort. Well done

    I'm sorry but I kinda "got lost" for a second. This was drunk most likely in 2020, so the wine was 5 years old (give or take) and one of the aromas was leather? I call BS on that, the only way for a wine like this to taste like leather after 5 years of storage is if it was exposed to a lot of heat to age rapidly. Brunellos are famous for it's red fruit aromas, dry herbs, not leather when they're "young"

    Your description of this particular wine is accurate. I have had the pleasure of tasting the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Prime Donne and the 2016 vintage is extremely good, but I preferred the structure and complexity of the 2015 vintage, I found it a little more robust than the 2016 vintage but that is my opinion. Salute! 🍷

    2016 isn't too young?

    • @Mamablip
      @Mamablip 2 роки тому

      Thank you for your comment! Yes Amarone in general is definitely a wine with great ageing potential. The wine we are discussing in particular. It can age well for many years. In the video we are discussing the current release so that you can decide for your self if it could be a nice addition to your tasting experience or your cellar, to be enjoyed in the future. ;-)

    • @keppela1
      @keppela1 2 роки тому

      @@Mamablip Thanks for the explanation. I've been wanting to try Amarone, but am having a hard time finding an older vintage. I guess I was wondering if it's worth it to break open a bottle that's less than 10 years old. I mean, would it even be enjoyable at a young age?

    • @Mamablip
      @Mamablip 2 роки тому

      @@keppela1 The theory behind aging vs young is related to the increase of aromatics and softening of tannins. In the past wines did need ageing to become smoother. Today most wines are a joy even when young. Particularly with Amarone which has gone through the drying process under a “kind off” a second maturation you will be stunned by the complexity and generosity even in early stages. If you try an Amarone we'd love to know what you've tased and your thoughts. The wine in the video is sold also in the US. Among our videos you can find a couple more Amarone videos :-)
