Left abandoned for about 3 years, I decide to resurrect my old Saxo VTS from what was nearly its final resting place. This is not a full on restoration by an expert, more of a gentle recommissioning by a French Car Apologist. This video includes fantastic content such as rust, grinding wheels andmore rust Hope you enjoy and please like and subscribe if it tickles your pickle.

I miss my VTS
They are good little cars
That looks like fun! Wish I could be there with you guys to enjoy it with you.
literally bought an e30 a week ago and i got this problem. youtube knows too much 😭
My top handle pulls off really easily when dragging it around the shop. Is anyone else having this issue?
Cheers mate !👍
Thankyou I can understand how to change the parts
Nice! Liked it a lot. Looking forward to part 4...
well unfortunately the e28 was scrapped a long time ago
I was going to use the same method striping my old underseal matey goes "That ain't gonna work, you gotta chisel it mate". Sent him this video to prove him wrong. How were the neighbours after 3 days of grinding though? I had complaints when taking out bolts out of lower control arms on my 190e.
Do another saxo video
One has just been posted! also a fixing video is coming within the next couple months!
I miss my VTS, shame they're so expensive now, would love to get another one. Posi blue is the best colour too
I can’t figure out why you used an out of dat primer on bare metal. If the primer fails then everything on top of it will fail.
Well if it puts your mind at rest the car is now a cube 😢
Hi, how long did it take you to get old the old stuff off in this way? Looking at doing this to my mx5 soon so wondering how to manage my time
I am also working on blue 16v Vts mk2
Greetings from across the pond. Just replaced the left side gasket on my E28. Very helpful video. Wiring is slightly different on USA models but presented no problem. Thanks!
Glad it helped pal!
Nice work. Check out my Saxo build on UA-cam mate. 'Project 5axo'. Doing a similar thing to you.
I think it was bad idea to clean this up to metal. Old was very good, you can only fix rust
I owned a Saxo in 2016 and paid £30 for. It was a little 1.1 Forte. The bodywork was pretty much mint as well. Then I sold it to a neighbour who had to give it up about 6 months later to pay off a drug debt. I was gutted. I look forward to the next episode.
Im building up the courage to take the underseal off of a recently purchased MGB. I think investing in the grinder looks like it will be a good shout
If you have power where you are working, I would suggest a mains wired one. Cordless are much more expensive and the batteries don't last long. Underseal is thick nasty stuff so dont buy a cheap grinder because it will burn out.
@@A-JMotorsport I've bought myself a corded one, having not used a grinder much before, im a bit anxious about using it whilst crawled under the car - proximity etc.
Having been an idiot and dropped a running grinder on my face, make sure you wear at the very least eye protection and a face mask.. otherwise you'll be coughing up and sneezing underseal for days. If you can, go for a full facemask. PPE isn't expensive from places like tool station and screwfix. Have a play with it whilst standing up and get a feel for the grinder, it will kick back and fight you when it goes under load
i had a knotwheel get caught in my jumper while under a car Needless to say it takes skin off quicker than underseal just go slow until you get the feel for it and dont get too aggressive with it
Is the rubber pad removable from the saddle so I can fit my vehicle specific pad instead please?
Yes its removable mate
@@haashimshakil Thank you. and thanks for the video.
indeed it is
Where you bought the stuff?
The stuff was good 😂
ebay i think
Hi. Is the storage pan magnetic? By the Im-bossed Halfords advance logo
Think so?
Hi, does the jack pad/plate remove? I have a clark ctj3000g and the plate comes off to leave a smooth rectangular plate with a 1" hole .
It is removable mate
I have a dripping wet trunk of my e28. Going to check these gaskets. Good video! That little wire attached to the light cluster on the bottom 8mm, is that a ground wire?
I believe it was a ground for the tow bar electrics
More power to you mate. That you took this very tough job on outside like that, shows you have commitment. Great Job!!
Thanks 👍
Thanks for the video! Very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Looks like you've got your work cut out for you. None the less could be a great build!
Hopefully. Still not started :(
Hi this looks great what size tin would you recommend on a full underside in the primer and have you got a link for it

Can you post a video with a front lift?
Fair play to you looks good enjoyed watching
Is it worth paying for the pedal pump? The SGS equivalent that looks the same, but without the pedal action is £30 less.
To be honest, I rarely use the pedal pump but it can come in handy. SGS do make good quality items and are reasonably priced.
can i use this just with the bottom handle section, i dont like the big handles as i like to look under the car and pump at the same time
Yes, still usable like that, you'll need to put more effort into pumping it
You can't use just the foot pump but you can decide not to put the handle on and just use the pole... I have no problems looking under the car and activating the lever
@@A-JMotorsport just got one 90 quid, used it last 2 days bloody heavy and not cheap but looks quality

Great job !
Thanks, went on here to see if anyone was having an issue with the holes being too small mid way up the handle but indeed they were threaded slightly.
No problems mate! I was surprised to see they were threaded, considering they have nuts. Glad the video was of use
Did you use any special gear to spray it on? Air fed suit or mask?
Brush!
two pack isn't it?
