I agree we should be honest that Sanzen TRP is problematic, but I think it's not fair to call Tomoegawa a "stupid f*cking company". They closed their paper production business because they were severely impacted financially by the pandemic. I get that we all loved Tomoegawa TRP, but using slurs like this is a bit uncalled for. I was taken aback by such strong language.

For the most part, I'm not overly mad at the Sanzen paper, but I was re-using pages from my 2022 Cousin recently, and I just loved how much more silky it flips too! I was thinking, it's more "cloth-like" in how it moves.

I agree that the sanzen TR paper is not good! 😢 I can’t use my favorite Iroshizuku ink in my techo this year becauseiy feathers on the new TR paper. For that reason I am switching to Midori 1 day 1 page and Take A Note next year! ❤

I use the weeks as a random things planner too. One year I got a weeks mega and abandoned it in May. Since it was “ruined” anyways, I started using the extra pages for random ugly junk. It was amazing for nearly every use case I tried and it was heavily used to entertain my kids with pages for drawing when they were bored. It turned out to be a great archive for the year and I realized that ugly is better than unused. now I always ruin something about my planner as soon as it comes. It works for me.

May I ask how true to colour the Jellybeans/Tambourine cover is? Like from your video to real life? On the site it’s a beautiful clear bright blue in some photos, but in others it’s more sort of dulled, or greyish blue it seems like, which do you think is more true to colour? I understand all screens are different.

Personally I’m finding it quite odd. The Michelle Liberty Weeks cover is made with leather inside, but the Mina Perhonen one does not have a leather interior, yet it still costs the same price. It would be nice to have an explanation from Hobonichi. Also this year, in several unboxing’s OP’s have found quality issues. I expect it’s growing pains, but considering the price, and that the prices were raised, I think Hobonichi needs to do a better job or risk losing clientele.

how is the texture of the Weeks Mother? Does it have a similar texture as the Hobonichi 2024 Shihai Sumire? Some pictures make it look smooth and glossy, but I have also seen photos where it looks like it has a bit of rough-like texture.

This video is absolutely hilarious, because I have the same planner issues, however I purchased grid notebooks so that I could use them whenever I wanted for whatever I wanted. Well not only have i continued to purchased notebooks but i have so many that I forget I have them and purchase the latest and greatest must have tomoe river notebook. Someone sent me to watch this video 😅. Let me tell you as a planner lover I understand your problem 💀 something that might help you is to stay away from social media. Because it is easy to see all the influencers that have tons of planners but the truth is that this is a job for them, they have tons of unused planners. I am very mindful of waisting money on something that I am not going to use but it is hard when the planners are cute. My tip for you is to find something that is comfortable and that you use all the time. Take the rest of the year to really think about it and process.

I spent way too much money in 2024 andvwasted so many things. It was depressing and i put myself in chevk for 2025... 1 planner, 1 journal, 1 reading journal... if i want anything else i need to use my notebook stash and create it. 2025 is the year to use and appreciate the things we have. Im cancelling my patreons and subs too... i cant use the stuff as fast as it shows up... the overconsumption in the stationery world is insane... good luck!!!

I understand! I thought I had a handle on this year's... But I've realized that making a habit of actually planning is the biggest piece I'm missing. I set up 4 personal planners... And have used 2 of them fairly consistantly. The other two, I touched maybe twice in January and found them last week under a pile. 😂🤣 I think I'll take your advice and just re-date/re-purpose if I happen to need something outside the ONE main planner I bought for 2025. Here's hoping! Now if I could get my pen/marker habit under control, I'd be on fire! 😅

Im a game dev too and I love how itoi keeps the memory of his game alive through the yearly releases, im sure a lot more people have used his mother series vs the game itself! I got the same mother weeks because it’s so lovely and it’s a shame that the build isn’t the same quality! Hopefully the print is beautiful in real life with those 2D sprites!

Your cat journey sounds so difficult.. 😞I did not cry.. but I thought it was just me.. it was not.. now I know better. Not sure what will happen next year, but I’m still a Hobonichi woman. Japanese culture is very ethical with an individual and collective sense of responsibility and pride. This i know from a little personal experience.
