Mesh TC is your home for content that captures the most epic of running adventures. Our partner athletes have completed feats that range from running the entire perimeter of the US to setting state, national and world records. The projects take a lot of planning and a lot of training so while we don't upload all the time, rest assured when we do, it will be worth it.
Chasing 100 - a Backyard Ultra Documentary
Cameron Balser had just returned home from his 12,000 mile run around the perimeter of the United States. His home town running group, Meshingomesia Track Club, was hosting their annual last man standing/back yard ultra, "Prairie On Fire."
Prairie on Fire was going into their 3rd year as a race and they had yet to have anyone reach 100 miles. Cameron, who had won the race in 2023, was still recovering from his epic run, but, had made a promise to come back in 2024 to help achieve that milestone.
In the backyard format, you can only go as far as those around you and this story is theirs.
Lazarus Lake, founder of the Barkely Marathon and Big's Backyard Ultra makes a guest appearance in the film as well.
Thank you Mount to Coast for sponsoring the film. Their shoes are great. Check them out by clicking the link below.

He had to face the fact that he had run 6,500 miles to get to the start line while others...

What a charming persona Lazarus Lake is - Absolute Legend

"You can run from something and you can run towards something at the same time...." Every next mile means a unique life story with the desire to go forward and not look back.. Still speechless. Thank you!👏
Chris is outstanding and I couldn’t think of a better way to end the film. -Jon
Fantastic!
Thank you!
Really enjoyed this ! Beautiful film work and story telling.
Thank you so much. 😊
So cool. I live within 15 minutes and never knew this existed.
Are you signed up? 😉
I seen Cameron Balser running in the U.P of Michigan... I was like is that Chad Wright? few days later I seen who he was.. mind blown.
He is incredible.
Lazarus Lake. Raising the Dead Runner in me...
He is a wise old sage that lives in the mountains. It was such a privilege to talk to him. I’m grateful he lets us interview him for the film.
FAB !!
❤️
this is THE race :)
🏃🏽♂️🏃♀️🕺
never run a BYU but going to do my first in few weeks. 100 milles in 24 doesnt seem to be too tough on the surface. seems the thing that is different vs a typical 100 mile race is the amont of time many spend in the aid station at the end of each loop. i rarely spend more that 1-2 minutes at an AS in a 100. sooo there is something here i have never experienced - looking forward to it, should be interesting.
Have fun! Please come back with an update edit! Would love to hear about your experience.
Not a race we've heard of but great video. We included it into our weekly newsletter!
Yo! That’s amazing. Email the newsletter if you want. jonkuhn@blended4media.com I’m the filmmaker of the piece.
Awesome work capturing this event!
Thank you so much! It’s crazy how much you can get done with a person, a camera and a one wheel. Oh and the guy with a drone when the original drone broke. Not all hero’s wear capes.
I did 18yards myself a few years ago. My target was 12 so eclipsed that completely, but at the same time, I hoped for that 24. But as youll likely pick up from my typing, I'm a yacker/talker. So each lap found me speaking with someone new, or at least a new topic. But it seemed to me that after yard 18 and 75miles there was only serious runners left. So starting the 19th , i started talking to a new group and only got grunts in reply, so i dropped back to the next group and tried engaging them in conversation. No replys, only serious runners left so after about half a mile, I said "eff you" and turned around and walked back to the start. It wasnt fun anymore. I wasn't in pain or tired but I guess mentally i couldn't face the idea of 6hrs on my own. One day I'll revisit a Backyard and get that 24 minimum. But im just not there yet.

@@meshtc Thinking about it, at least to run 50K
I've watched youtube actively for over a decade. I'm subscribed to over 300 channels. Hell this is the first comment I've ever left across those years. It's an absolute crime that you produce this level of content while only having 170 subs. I know that in the future I'll be proud to say I'm #171. Please continue what you're doing.
Wow! Thank you so much. Seriously it means a lot.
Awesome comment 💯
Awesome doc, captured the vibes and love of the race so much. Next year I'm (J. Goldstein) hitting 100 no doubt ❤🔥
Thank you so much brother! I’m stoked to see you out there again this year.
I have faith you can do it! Ron is going this year and I hope to be able to go and support him.
@@Changing_Spotts I would love to meet you both at the race, I'm so excited for Ron. He deserves this chance!
@@meshtc Wouldn't miss it, especially now that I live in a neighbor state!

Thank you! It's impossible to avoid an inspiring story at an ultra. What a dang community.
Proud to be a part of the magic that is Prairie on Fire.

Cam is remarkable and a one of a kind.

So inspiring…what an incredible story and achievement.
Thank you so much!
Wow you inspire me Sir. My brother lost his battle on 9/5 24 . Sadly at 38 he couldn't bare it any longer and took his own life. I'm also a runner and would be an honor to run with you one day. Times are hard right now, planning for his service is so hard and very stressful. I miss him 😢
Thank you for opening up and being vulnerable here. I wish I had better words to express my most sincere condolences in a better way. I don’t know how often Cameron checks these comments but you can certainly DM him on Instagram. He would love to hear from you. - Jon ❤️
Sorry for your loss, praying for you.
Well told story, with a very valuable lesson for life. Cam, you inspire. Question, how many of those burritos did you eat and where did you get them from>?. Keep on running.
Fun story, the burrito in the film is just a MASSIVE burrito that he slowly ate during the second day. It was from Chipotle. Thanks for watching, commenting and being awesome.
