His clone can be killed right after he summons it. But DS3 had the best and most fair multi-boss fights, Pontiff always mirroring his clone, Sister Friede goes passive once Ariandel frees himself, during the demon prince fight one of them are always ranged and the other is melee, Elden Ring’s multi-boss fights were a huge step back from the quality of DS3… btw congrats for beating him, Pontiff is not an easy one especially on your first run.

my advice is; take your time. that's one of the most important factors of playing a Souls game. let each death be a lesson. pay attention to his moves, the way he fights, how you can roll away from that and which direction to roll away, and how you can time your dodges at the right time. if you don't want to fight him alone, you can summon NPCs or people (if you're playing online) to help you out for bosses. no one's gonna judge you if you do. the most reliable NPC for this fight is Anri of Astora, since he/she can actually parry him. if you want a new emote, you can summon Black Hand Gotthard. i personally summon Anri and Gotthard because i like having a group when there are available summons. if you can't find their summons, Anri's summon sign is next to the stairs you go up to from the shortcut you open up from Distant Manor to the elevator near the Church of Yorshka. the one with the invisible enemies and the one ember near a tree. Gotthard's summon sign is near Anri's, but at the center tip of the balcony(?). if you still can't find their summons, you could try using Embers. they make the game easier sometimes. if you don't have any, i would suggest trying to find some or grind for some. P.S.: try hitting the statue in the corner in the Church of Yorshka. the one before you leave. :) P.S. 2: you're in the Warrior of Sunlight covenant right? with Embers and Online on, you can have some jolly cooperation. P.S. 3: don't let his fire sword fool you, he's weak to Lightning and Fire.
