Переглядів 4807 місяців тому
DXR "The Student Violin Snare" The process of taking an inexpensive, early eighties, Ludwig student model snare drum, removing the wrap, veneering it in fine veneers inside and out, refinishing it in violin spirit varnish, improving it in a thousand tiny ways, and making it into a gorgeous custom musical instrument. The before and after is quite astounding! Please enjoy! Cheers!

Tone Test 7: pickup magnet swapping
Переглядів 2802 роки тому
i have had a inexpensive import hamer guitar since forever and it has always looked cool and sounded dark. i cracked open the pickups and swapped out the ceramic magnets for alnico magnets (alnico ii in the neck, alnico V in the bridge), put them back together/in the guitar, and heres what they sound like. i dont have a sample of what they sound like before, but if u have ever played a really w...

Tone Test 6: Davie's Tube Screamer Mods
Переглядів 1173 роки тому
In this tone test we try out my newly modified tube screamer. mods i did to this stock 1997 tubescreamer pedal include changing out its clipping diodes for higher threshold asymmetric clipping, lowered the minimum gain to unity, changed the voicing of the low pass filter and tone stack for less coloration and added a charge pump for eighteen volts internal power supply off a 9v battery. i was l...
Tone Test #5: does louder matter?
Переглядів 1553 роки тому
in this clip i test out how loudness effects the audio quality of the video. the video starts out with the volume at sort of normal tv volume, then gets turned up several times until it is eventually too loud to stand very near without ear protection for any length of time. the amp felt more lively as i turned it up but the tone change was not as huge as i anticipated. please enjoy!
tone test #4: new amp day
Переглядів 2753 роки тому
Got a 1980 Marshall JMP 2204 Master Model 50 Watt Mk II Lead amp today! Never really tried a 2204 so trying it out with my trusty blue DXR guitar, the revealer of tones. Just a quick one but i think it shows off the sound of the amp quite well, the lead channel anyway. please enjoy, like and subscribe for more fun in guitar playing and tone testing. cheers!

Great work
I've got a couple of cabs that some teenager spray painted ferociously. IDK what to do about them?
Wow, nice work!
Man that drum looks SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!!!! Great job on this project. I love how you have ideas implemented that stay true to the heritage, yet modernize it as well. Really really nice looking drum.
Very amazing transformation! Ingenious.
😱😎👍 awesome!!!
thank you!
fully sick
thanks!
Try show us a top cabinet ☝️😁
Do you finish off stapling opposite sides completely before moving to the remaining opposite sides?
Great
How did u reattached the logo ? Glue ?
It should pop back into the six holes and stay attatched.
Killer chops dude!
12:20 where the real magic happened.
Nice 🎉
thanks!
Excellent mods. Provided a lot of versatility. Very nice!
i definitely agree! thanks very much!
@@dxrguitar keep up the good work my friend
Hey Dave! Joe here ! Nice playing bro
Hey Joe! Thanks very much for the nice comment! cheers my man!
So all I need is a corded drill and a steak knife?
correct! but a hammer helps!
Hi! Can I install White tadpole piping on my Mg30dfx amp just for the look? Thanks
absolutely! just staple it in before replacing the baffle. cheers!
I've got a 4x12 Line 6 cabinet that needs redone. Anyone know where I might be able to find OEM material or something that's close to Line 6 OEM material to recover this grill? I bought some material, online, but it's plastic, super stiff and has a really loose weave. I'm looking for some cloth material, not plastic chicken wire.
i got mine from mojotone! cheers!
Nice job Mojotone is a killer place for all your amp needs truly grill cloth , caps, resistors , tubes, output transformers , potentiometers, and they also have tube amps you can build or they will do it for you .Staff is awesome with fast shipping
Nice check board! can't find it in Europe anymore ☹️
they mojotone in usa! thats where i got mine. cheers!
It’s ironical you made this video. I’m literally picking up a 1960B cab tomorrow and changing the cloth the large check lol. Ty for the vid
you're welcome and thanks for watching!
Wtf v!?
🔥 🔥 🔥
thanks!
Bud may I ask u where u bought the cloth and the name of it ??? I like that cloth !!!!
i got it from Mojotone and the cloth is "marshall large check" cheers!
@@dxrguitar many thx bud, love this cloth style, mojotone seems to be a good deal !!
Thanks for this vid bud I'm thinkn bout new cloth 4 my 1960A with greenbacks !!!!
Right on!
Thanks dude, great video,
thanks!
Nice
Thanks!
Hey buddy, great vid! can you tell me where to get the cloth?
i think antique electronic supply but i'll be honest, i just googled "marshall checkerboard grillcloth" cheers!
Interesting. I changed out an Alnico magnet in my Suhr SSH+ bridge pickup to a ceramic and felt it gave me more bite and presence. I guess it has a lot to do with how you hit the front end of the amp, I usually hit amps pretty hard with a boost.
u should have put the 2 in the bridge and the 5 in the neck.
Thanks for this video. I replaced the grill cloth on my Marshall cab with the same grill cloth and, following your example, had no problems at all getting the new material on it. I’m tempted to buy you a proper hammer, my friend!
thanks!
Awesome, Dave! How you been? -Randy
i've been really well! how are u?
Bravo 🙌
thanks!
Great job!
thanks!
Sounds great! More like this please
thanks! more on the way!
Nice
thanks! more to come! cheers!
