Students and AI plagiarism: How much should we care?!
wonderful thank you for sharing
Your video brilliantly illustrates the contrast between formal and casual tones in communication. (That's my attempt at a formal tone.) In other words, your video ROCKS! (And that’s my casual take!) 😊 This really underscores the need to proofread AI-generated content carefully. After all, even though AI assists in the process, the final product is still your work, and it's essential to take responsibility for its accuracy and tone.
Thanks so much for the feedback Johan :) Glad the video resonated!
my favourtie is this lms called learnigo underrated imo
Hi I'm a freelancer I wanna know if I need to to pay a specific fee like linking fee for a bank before I can get my salary as a freelancer
I find learning design as a jargon used by the people in the academe. On the other hand, instructional design sounds corporate or industrial.
Personas are a great tool. Clair desire to learn AI can get get messy and distracting. I would remove that characteristic from the persona.
Is there an example of how learning design change the way a course or educational product is conceived?
Hi Maria- I think you are asking about the DESIGN phase where we decide what actually needs to be built? If so, then YES! Learning design is present all the way through the process. We question the actual experience at this point... what do the learners actually need? I just did a video on Personas which is where LD starts! ua-cam.com/video/RBabU_EWM9A/v-deo.htmlsi=brZZ8tXqC7W0gpyz

Hello Bianca! I am looking for a platform for a local L&D company (70 employees), who until now offered only in-person trainings especially in leadership management topic for other companies, so it is mainly a B2B company. And now they want to offer blendid learning with online materials (videos, quizzes, articles) to support the participants in-between the in-person sessions. First of all, would you recommend an e-learning platform or an LMS, and which ones? They have a limited time to build up a system in order to win current tenders, but also they want to think long-term. I would really appreciate you support! Thank you! Niki
Hi Niki, thanks for the question! Please drop me an email at hello@oppida.co and i will get back to you with some ideas.
Such a valuable approach to course design! 🎓✨ I’m excited to see how learner personas can enhance engagement and effectiveness!
Thanks a bunch! Glad you liked the vid :)
This is so helpful. Thank you for the simple explanation.
Great video! You are exactly right. LEARNING should be engaging, exploratory and even fun! I chuckle when I hear others pull out all the technical jargon and definitions. I really appreciate folks like you making a distinction and pushing for LEARNING as the target goal. I have seen miles and miles of "instruction". Real learning is what makes me think of my most inspiring teachers. Thank you for your inspirations!!
Hey Bianca, awesome video as usual, but is it adobe rise or articulate rise? I believe it is the latter. Please check the thumbnails and video content. thanks!
Thanks, Bianca. As usual, another high-quality video with valuable insights! I'm looking forward to the next one! Here's a high-five.
Oh thanks Johan! Appreciate your support :)
I appreciate the content of your videos but please, could you avoid using this type of background music? it's quite distracting, :( I have a hard time to get through the video because of this music. Thanks in advance.
Thank you for this feedback! We will address it for sure :) Sometimes one slips through a bit louder than it should. Thanks for your support!

Your tone is exactly the same.Every second of this video you need to work out that
Great video Bianca, and very balanced assessments. I think it would be great if you could do something similar for the enterprise and SME market. All the platforms and LMS systems you mentioned are very Edtech focused, which is understandable, but I think there is still a lot of potential elsewhere for understanding options and value.
Thanks so much for the feedback and suggestion! We will add it to the backlog :)
This is even more problematic in Spanish speaking countries. Here instruction is not equivalent to teaching. Safe for very technical training. Oh dear. I support the learning designer concept and might even go further: Education designer. For it is as necessary to design the teaching or instruction.
I am so amazed by your courage and achievement. I'm currently at a transition, planning to quit teaching after 30 years in this profession. I'm planning to enrol myself in an instruction design course but not sure if it's the right decision. I've gotten very tired of training and coaching teachers in school. I'm not sure what's the next best course of action I should take. Thank you for sharing your journey, Now I feel more confident that I can transfer my teaching skills somewhere else to embark on a new journey in my life. You have inspired me!
Thank you so much for this lovely message :) Drop myself and my team an email at hello@oppida.co and we can sort a discount to our Learning Design micro-credential to get you started!

Perhaps instructional design focuses on the learning bit not so much on the experiences surrounding and driving it
Respectfully, critical thinking about "wordy text," as you call it, and writing are very complex neurological processes that require skill building over several years. When 1 or more of the steps to the processes are circumvented through AI use, the processes gets derailed and the students' critical thinking and writing development become stunted.
I can see how a chatbot trained to only teach the right solutions can work, but what about higher education? When children move onto more abstract thinking, or where they need to show original thought, I would be wary of letting a chatbot tutor assess a student's answers.
It seems the point has eluded most of the commenters here--probably because most "instructional design" is not really very engaging, and doesn't elicit critical thinking. Since so much of ID is for corporations or organization that are doing it purely for compliance reasons, there isn't much real learning going on. Basically just a bunch of information and then multiple choice questions. The point is not so much to change the name but to change the default, mediocre norms of the vast majority of ID.
What platform is comparable to Talent LMS? It's most important feature to me is its ability to track the students time spent on a section in hours and/or minutes.
Loved this Bianca! Thanks!
This tech gadget review was thorough and unbiased. Really helped me make my decision.
Thank you - so glad it helped!
Just found you after searching "pedagogy" on YT. This is the third video I've watched but the second video of yours I've seen. Love what I'm learning. Thanks for great content!
Thanks David! Appreciate the support
Too much music
This was insightful. We are a LMS with platform features. Come check us out.
There are a lot of great points here. The algorithms used in social media certainly do bring about a lot of confirmation bias.
Thanks
Thanks 🎉😊
Sort of like a pyramid scene: get in now before it is too late! What is its value? You can sell it later for more! Then why are you selling it???
Thank you so much for this incredibly detailed video.
Hi Bianca, what do you think of iSpring LMS?
I realize that I am responding late to this thread, but I personally believe that Instructional Design is the more appropriate term. Learning is a process, a journey the student embarks on, in their quest for new knowledge. On the other hand, instruction is presumed to be in the correct processes and thereby taking away the right learning outcomes. Oftentimes, students "learn" incomplete or flat-out erroneous information. Hence, the need for a subject matter expert's input and evaluation of what the student should have learned as compared to what the student actually learned. In the end, I believe it is mostly a matter of semantics but if I were forced to choose the more appropriate term, its Instructional Design.
Could you tell me which is the best text based LMS ?
I never thought the halving could used to teach students a lot of things that will affect them one day.
I would Instructional Designer because I don’t always develop traditional learning/training for process or system changes, as it may simply be a set of other resources, such work instructions, qrgs or procedural guides provided to end users. I would also think there is sometimes a need for an Instructional Designers and sometimes a Learning Experience Designer or for some projects both skills could apply.
I totally agree! There is a need for both, depending on the outcomes intended!
As a student who has used both Canvas and Blackboard, I miss Canvas so much. It empowers student success and makes it easy to see what I need to get done in the order I need to do it. Using Blackboard has been an absolute nightmare and actively discourages students by being unaccessible and hard to navigate. Canvas wins in my book, and I plan to actively campaign for my university to make the switch.
LOVE this! But sorry you are stuck in Blackboard... Let's hope your uni can find the budget and prioritise their technology stack and user experience!
Can't figure out what system is best for me. I'm producing hundreds of videos.suscribers pay at different levels e.g Free material Basic 30 videos a month Standard (more) Full (more) Educational (higher sum for group access). Are we looking at a LMS ? 🙏
I wouldn't think so. An LMS is more for education providers with complex admin and assessment needs. You need a platform that caters for membership models. Look at Mighty Networks, Circle and Uscreen www.uscreen.tv/
Freedom for innocent Kabyles unjustly condamned
thank you so much, very interesting! regarding the cost, I thought Canvas instructure was free? I've tried to have more info about Canvas Catalog to sell my course, but no answer
Canvas is just free for teachers to trial it. You cant actually run courses off the free version. Canvas Catalog is quite expensive and only really for institutions who want to sell B2C without enrolment lag time. If you are a small business or solopreneur you need to look at platforms!
Thanks Bianca, great informative videos. Thinkific is a good platform and we've been using it for years. Unfortunately we're outgrowing it because of increasing mandates in California. We're looking for a flexible and affordable muliti-tenant platform at the moment. If you have suggestions, I'd appreciate your feedback.
Yes , I agree with you. Thank you very much for sharing with us. it is very useful for us teaching TVET training
I appreciate this.❤ You're so right! That's why your the team lead.😊
What is L & D?
To me, instructional design is more appropriate, we should note that learning is the desired response, instruction entails setting-up of stimuli that can trigger desire response while teaching is the implementation of instruction. Instruction in education context is not only entail verbal command, it encompasses all stimuli put in place for learning to take place. Technology only takeaway/modify the role of teachers (content delivery) it does not take away the role of instructional design. Thank you.
