Lights are good to use at night. It seems really odd to do a comparison of lights without doing a comparison of lights....at night. I was seriously considering the new Motolights but after watching the release videos a few times I realised that the beam pattern is really relatively tight. I use a pair of Baja Designs XL80s on my R1250GS which have an amazingly broad beam with more than adequate reach. Here in Australia where Skippy often makes an appearance width of beam is paramount.
Thank you for commenting, however the beam pattern is very wide on full beam, it lights up the peripherals extremely well
Nice comparison. Thanks. Do you know if they are going to have a bundle for the BMW 1300 GSA?
They will do once the brackets are finalised But you can use them with the R1300 MotoCan and use the engine bar clamps to get started! I have the new 1300GSA on order so I’ll let you know
@@MidlandsMotorbikers Thank you.
Hi, you should provide a real test review of the MotoLights, so we can really appreciate what those new pods can do compared to the D7Pro or 2 pairs of smaller 3-inch pods equivalent in wattage. I personally went with 2 pairs of pods to have a better beam orientation.
This will be coming soon, however after having two sets of light pods before and then switching to the MotoLights, I can promise that the MotoLights pods are all you need I would go far as to say that the standard D7 pods give a fuller light pattern than the D7 Pros
@@MidlandsMotorbikers What do you mean by "fuller" pattern ? More Flood or more spot (throw)? Also, which pods model did you use before switching to D7?
@@JohnL-qx4mi both in all honesty
Thanks for this very useful comparison. As a Triumph Tiger 1200 owner. I've few questions: (1) are all features of Motolights, including the beam increase as the bike speed increases, exploitable by the Hezcan for Triumph, or the Motolights Motocan is needed? (2) does a crashbar mount for Triumph exist? (3) Is the Motocan compatible with others brands accessories, including Denali Soundbombs, etc..?
Hello and thank you for commenting! I am happy to confirm we have various solutions for you but it will depend on the exact model and year of your bike as to what we can offer for you. GREAT NEWS - If there is a MotoCan / EZCan for your make and model then all of the features will work on your bike yes! Please feel free to email us at shinysideupvalet@gmail.comfor more information
I dunno... Clearwater lights have some *insane* specimens that throw wild amounts of light. Not to say any of these are bad but I'm not sure claiming they're categorically the best is correct. Their five-inch 10000+ lumen each Super Sevina for instance is brutal, or the Dixi which has both a long-range spot and a broader driving beam.
The Clearwater light pods are fantastic as well we agree!
Wow… you already got the lone rider aux lights…. I’m still waiting for mine 😢
We are lucky enough to be product tester for them - you won’t be disappointed! Let us know what you think when you get them
@@MidlandsMotorbikers Awesome. Thanks for your response.
I want some lights with an easy to use strobe or flashing feature to aid visibility when lane splitting in traffic. What are my easiest options? Ps: I dont do much night riding right now.
We can certainly look to help for you - message us at ShinySideUpValet@gmail.com and tell us your bike make and model Hopefully we can help?
Really good video! I got a question. If I buy the motolights and their CANsmart, can I use denali lights on the other channels? Thanks.
Thank you for the comment and glad you enjoyed it! Yes you can use the remaining channels now you like with other lights(or accessories) if you wish
Great video and very informative. As you were explaining the lights I was thinking the moto lights seemed a better option purely in terms of functionality.
Very much so - but it depends if you want that - most of the time it comes down to personal preference - thank you for commenting
Can we pair a can smart with a hexcan ?
Yes we can daisy chain them together
What about the clearwater lights. Where do you think they stand in comparison witht these beasts
A close competitor….. but compared to the smart light systems (from Denali and LoneRider) they don’t give you as much for your money
Nice lights, shame about the bike they are on. 😂
Tell me about it lol

Hi. thanks for the review. Is it possible to wear the vest under a jacket?
Hello, thanks for the comment. This is designed as an outer layer and first line of defence for you. Because of the amount it inflates it isn’t wise to wear this under your jacket
Can you replace a set of D7’s with the Motolights without needing to replace or add a controller?
Hi Darren you will need either a MotoCan Controller or the EZCan controller (Gen2) that uses the EZBus white white Currently the Denali CanSmart Controller doesn’t have the EZBuz function yet Contact us for more information on ShinySideUpvalet@gmail.com

Fantastic - we are based in Earl Shilton, just outside of Hinckley - give us an email on Shinysideupvalet@gmail.com and we can book you in!
can i fit these on 2012 Tiger 800?
Thank you for commenting - currently you can only fit the Denali lights on your bike but as the Tiger doesn't have a Canbus controller available for it, you will only be able to control them with a switch or DialDim unit. We are happy to discus your options if you email us at shinysideupvalet@gmail.com
@@MidlandsMotorbikers thanks, i need to find something as i am wanting to do more UK riding and need aux lights... wonder what i can get/use...
@@mcentertainmentiom drop us a message and lets create a solution for you?
Hi there. I don't comment usually, but this time, I'll make an exception. From my point of view, having the D4's from Denali for at least 5 years, mounted on a RT I'll have to add that even the Lone Rider lights might be brighter they still lack many useful futures ... Please correct me if I'm wrong but they are not working with the BMW control wheel, you'll have to have a different switch mounted on the handlebar. The 3 times flash won't trigger the flashing from the additional lights (as Denali does), the same story when you're using the horn it won't trigger the flashing additional lights (as Denali). Only these 2 future alone saved me from a couple of accidents in the city. Another aspect is that it is not completely true what you've mentioned regarding Denali and their connectivity. For example, the horn is connecting directly on the original harness of BMW, so it won't take any other place. I had the horn installed (but the new RT has one as powerful as Denali, so I didn't changed it). I have the 2 D4's installed with the special brackets under the mirrors and the auxiliary brake light, and i recommend it, and i still have place left for additional lights. Another point (if I'm not wrong) you can use the Y cable from Denali and connect left and right additional lights in one slot. Please note that I have the first generation of the Denali D4's and controller box, which doesn't have as many options as the latest one. Also, they are not prepared for RT's ... there is no special mount for it. I hope you won't take my comment in a bad way, I really like the LoneRider lights, but I think Denali are more like an all purpose kind of lights while LoneRider are more like Off-Road (or only you on the road situation, which to be fair is like 10% of the riding time). Best regards
Your assumptions are as wrong as they can be. Denali CANsmart, the controller, is an OEM version of the HEX ezCAN. So is the Lone Rider MotoCAN. So you can program in the same "flash on pass", "flash on horn", etc. No extra switches. The only difference between the three is that the CANsmart comes with more cables in the box, and has a higher price. Plus Denali at the moment says they do not support the new HexBUS that Lone Rider uses, but I think they actually do. I upgraded one, and it is there in the application. (No surprise, as they all use the same software. The resource library contains different logos and icons, that are chosen based on what brand of controller you connect to the computer.)
Hello and firstly thank you for your comment and asking the questions - this may also help clear up some confusion for any other people watching/reading… The Denali lights you currently have will be using the Cansmart controller, which is a controller built and designed by Hex Innovate. This same design and controller system is used in the Hex EZCan and now the MotoCan controllers. So, to answer your first point - they will have the same functionality as your current set up and also more additional features. I will agree the strobe function on the flash to pass and horn is a fantastic feature! The SoundBomb horn you have installed can also be installed inline with the original OEM horn if you wish but works out more expensive to do it that way as requires a plug and play harness - if you were to add your SoundBomb onto the controller then you will twin link both horns together to create a fantastic “train horn” result. You mentioned about the Y-Split cable, which is a standard way to install the lights, but with the newer controllers you have the ability of having a left and right channel so you can request the left lights to flash (or go out) when indicating. This is a great feature to have when you have the amber lens’s installed and will create an additional indicator (more visibility = more information for other road users). However if you are happy with the pair of lights to operate “as one” then the y-split cable will be a great option. The MotoLights are fully certified to be road legal and will both enhance your visibility and cause you to be seen better, I would say they are MORE suited for on road usage with the addition of the DRL as indicators and the super strong beam patters for the road and path ahead of you. Both Denali and LoneRider have amazing auxiliary light solutions and there are other brands that are becoming bigger and better as well - we are still an advocate for any/all additional lighting is better than nothing so it just comes down to personal preference. If you have any more questions, then I would be happy to answer them for you, Kind regards, James
@@thoham60 thank you for your input :)
@@MidlandsMotorbikers Another advantage of connecting the SoundBomb to the ezCAN/x/x, is that you can program in a delay. So a short press on the button gives the friendly little beep, and a longer press gives the annoying bicyclist a heart attack. Granted, you do get some of the effect by using the stock horn wire to trigger a relay in parallel due to the inherent delay of the compressor, but you loose the really useful light flashing.
@@MidlandsMotorbikers And thank you for a great video! I am a Denali and Lone Rider reseller in Norway, so it is very useful to me.
Great to see your views on these. I’m looking forward to getting mine fitted 👍
Great and thank you for commenting - we can’t wait to fit yours for you!
Sod it have both! Too many wankers out there with head up ass syndrome! Poor things it’s terminal ! ❤❤🙏🙏👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🏍️🏍️
Love your thinking but i would recomend you upgrad your battery and alternator before you consider having both - they are THAT powerful!
Point from me: manufacturers miss this part of the market where we ride retro bikes... we still want good aux lights but covered by a 60'-70's looking blurry glass. Imagine BMW R18 with these ultra modern looking leds it will clash
Very true, however there are other styles of lights we can look at for you? Get in touch with us at ShinySideUpValet@gmail.com
@@MidlandsMotorbikers will do, ta
Thanks for the insight.
Glad it was helpful! Which ones will you choose?
Awesome breakdown, and thanks. But I would like to know this, I am thinking, instead of having other smaller lights added to either of D7 Pros, or Lone rider, can one have both of them on a bike at the same time just as the same set up u have.? Was hoping u were going to touch on that.
Yes, absolutely however you will need to upgrade your alternator lol having both these lights on at 100% will cause your battery to struggle….. Honestly . You won’t need both at all
Very interesting video-thanks What about legality of these lights? Are they road legal in the uk?
Yes fully road legal certified :-) Use the link in the description to order yours?

Perfect video. I have ordered a pair and now got an answer to a question I was going to ask Lone rider. if you had white drl switches to yellow if blinkers are used. I also chose because of only having to have one power cable. Thank You. Regards Niklas
Yes they will always go amber when using turnsignals or hazardlight
Yes indeed - watch the video and you will see :-)
Hi thanks for all those detaiks, please have have you done to set both the moto lights and d7pro on your bike? Thanks in advance for the feedback

I’ve no plans on adding any lightning but found that very informative. Nice one.
Thank you for watching mate!
What about the quality of the light between the two?
Very comparable between the two, the quality and the focus of the brand are perfect and give you exactly what you want/need as and when you need it I will say the MotoLights have more control over the beam patterns
Do i have a bike that I could put these lights on? No. Did I still watch the entire video. Yes.
That’s a compliment - we will take it!
The hex easy can is bike specific. Does that mean the moto can is also bike specific? I like the idea of only using one wire aswell. I wasn’t sure on the moto lights with the amber daytime lights but then you switched it to white. Decisions decisions 🙈
Yes, just like the EZCan it will be Bike specific I am like you and I love the ability to switch between Amber and White for the DRL I think for someone who wants both fog lights and spotlights, this is a great solution
When the CBS arena can’t afford there electricity they will be ringing you to light the field up 😂
I wouldn’t blame them, these lights are literally daylight
Great comparison video. Really enjoyed it 👌🏻

I am considering the RM1S, I never thought I could go for an electric bike, but Maeving have got it sussed.
Completely agree with you there - the RM1S is an incredible bike based on the already good RM1 but now with the performance we wanted…. If you get one we would love to hear about it
MotoLights (Smart light) looks promising, especially since they work with Hex ezBUS feature which reduces the number of harnesses & channels to only one,
Exactly - a great feature and a fantastic looking light
Motolights IS above thé compétition, head and shoulders. They are thé new paradigm.
How about slow speed stuff? Doing figure-eights for example, is it doable with just the e-clutch or would it rather require traditional, manual feathering of the clutch lever?
It is possible as it slips the clutch very well, positive throttle and some rear break will allow it to work great at slow speed Or if you prefer you can pull the clutch in yourself to override it at any point. Best of both worlds! :-)
@@MidlandsMotorbikers Thank's, cheers!
