Приєднався 13 січ 2024
Welcome to my channel. I do a little bit of everything here. I’m a Ford fan with a love for other makes too. I upload a variety of Ford repair videos including my 1968 Thunderbird, 1992 Crown Victoria, and my 2000 F-250 Diesel. I also post other automotive and machinery videos, but I try not to stray too far from automotive type videos. Enjoy!

Impacts dont work well with those locking lug bullcrap. Grab a breaker bar
@@Lorne_Jstone yes that’s true but with the proper torque they come off extremely easy. I’ve used that exact setup multiple times with no problems
Wheel lock socket taking all the power away. Also, just bring it back to them to loosen the lugs.
Try an impact socket and let’s see the difference.
@@jagerbruce8970 I’ve used this exact setup many times before and it will back them off fine, but the shop torqued them to probably 200+ft pounds
@ fair enough. We have impact spline sockets at my shop for that exact reason.
@@jagerbruce8970 I’m sure that would help, although I’m pretty sure the one I have is an impact spline socket…it came from a tire shop and it is softer metal
You can tell by his tone, he was def about to roast the hell outta that duracell battery
Great content

a engine will run hooked up backwards but not 100% from my experience 1 case is a 1952 farm tractor that had been changed from mag. to bat ing. it foul plugs i fought was this longer than i would like to admit so fowled the distributor wire back to coil it was hooked up backwards switch wires around runs perfect no more fouled plugs HAPPY WRENCHING
Looking good! Interested to see how it turns out
Why do you say BASICALLY so much? Maybe nervous? However your detailed instructions are excellent.

Good to know! Which wire controls the blinkers? There are three wires going into that connector on my car, a red, brown, and a yellow with black stripe. Only a blue leaves the other end so that’s why I suspected that the connector also would feed the cruise if equipped
Useful video that explains how the typical '67-72 Ford turn signal switch pin locking tang works and can be released. The factory tool (AMP 465644-1 Pin Extractor) can be used but is very fragile. Note: The three pin connector powers the side turning lights (on the fender). They are not for the cruise control.
MMM vinyl roof were a poor design
@@russelblackwell6041 I agree
It’s next to impossible to find information about that little silver barrel, but it seems to be a radio suppressor which limits radio static due to ignition current
This video is a huge help, thanks for taking the time to document and go through everything. I really couldn't find anything online or in the forums on how to remove the trim and i was not looking forward attempting to do mine as my roof is in similar shape. I'm still not looking forward to it, taking the trim off is a huge job and not having a garage to keep my car in makes everything that much harder but with this video im sure i can get it done now. Thanks again
I’m glad to hear it helped you. Yeah I feel you there, I didn’t have a garage until a couple months ago, and it’s just the one stall because it’s rented but it’s a huge blessing. I’ll hopefully get the other segments filmed within a month
Hey I watched your dash video, I took the cluster out and tried changing the cluster lights to led’s an that didn’t work so now the cluster doesn’t light up at all any idea why that would be happening?
Even with the og lights the cluster doesn’t light up still
@@Max.Simmons check the fuse in the glove box. should be a 6amp fuse.
@@Max.Simmons not exactly sure…I’ve heard that LED lights don’t work well on these older systems or at least not certain LED bulbs. Did they work before? If they did then I assume that’s your problem. You could also check online Cougars Unlimited. They sell a lot of bulbs and other electrical things that work on the thunderbirds (cougars and thunderbirds share some electrical components) I think they only sell through third party sellers, such as eBay but you could call Vince and ask him he’s very helpful. They make a LED taillight bulb for the thunderbird so they may have other offerings as well. Hope that helps
@@Max.Simmons sorry I missed this comment. Yeah I agree, check your fuse. The light blue wire controls all your dash lights. If you have a test light that helps. Fuse would be my first guess, then double check your light switch because I found out if it’s not mounted correctly the reostat spring won’t contact the tab inside the switch
@@Thunderbird1968 bet! do you mind if I get your # so I could FaceTime ya sometime an show you? If not it’s cool I understand
07:00 reason 557 to own an impact.
Update. It is still turning with the stud even with an impact. RIP.
@@RodknockRhettyou and I both brother. Had a 12V I’ve had a while, no luck. Seen him using a 20V so bought a 20V, still no luck. How did you come along?
@ I ended up cutting one of them and used a lot of heat on the second one and a pipe wrench on the stud. Heat it, turn the nut a little and heat it again. Kept doing that and finally got it off. The impact just spun the stud on both shocks. My car is a worst case scenario.
68 was first year for the 302..
I love the painting videos
How’d you take the push clips out?
@@Max.Simmons I think I used pliers, a flat blade would probably work too…If the assembly is off already you can just squish the back end with your fingers and push it out. If not grab it from the front with pliers… if I remember correctly

Love the videos on the 68 tbird man. Very hard to find info on how to do anything with them even with the shop manuals. Curious question do your wipers work on high and low? Mine seem to only work on low. And one more question how did you/do you find vacuum leaks. Everything's vacuum and I wouldn't doubt I have a few lol.
@@SmileyRiley66 I’m glad to hear that! Yeah my wipers work full range…I made a short on fixing wipers because all it took for me was to take the cowl off and manually work the wiper lever coming out of the pump. Also could check to make sure you have enough power steering fluid (type F transmission fluid). Finding vacuum leaks in the car I found normally you can hear a distinct hissing noise. I had a couple inside the car that were very loud. I ended up gutting almost all the vacuum system on my car, except for the drivetrain vacuum lines. Hope that helps

Sears sold absolutely everything. They had a catalog you could buy every part you needed.
@@Upurzz that’s cool! I remember hearing about sears catalog, and I’ve seen a lot of sears tools over the years. I’m young so I only remember sears as a clothing store
@@Thunderbird1968I have an old catalogue from the like 20s and you could buy houses guns makeup whatever you wanted, Amazon before amazon but better
@@Leavemealone- that’s so cool! I would love to have lived back then. Yeah, better than Amazon
Yeah, I did that once.
@@Blu_Grit_Garage and what was your experience?
@@Thunderbird1968 I wired a coil backwards once when tuning up with points, rotor, condenser and I replaced the old coil with a new chrome one. At first I thought the Tach quit because of faulty parts, but it was me switching the coil wires. i think the ground had a Red end from the previous owner or something that threw me off.
From what I have seen, most aftermarket rims don't contact the center bore.
I'm running Thrush glasspacks on mine also! This week installing an Aces high roller pro ignition system
@@landoncustomclassics I love the sound! But I got a wicked vibration at low rpm I got to find out how to get rid of. I’m thinking some tips or something
What a disappointment of a video😢
Sorry 😢 stay tuned for a better one
Very good demonstration I like that❤
i also have a 68 white tudor, you've actually helped me on my build with some interior things i wasnt sure about. So cool to see another bird like mine. The only issue i have with running wheels that aren't hub centric is that all of the load from bumps and potholes hit the studs and the studs only. So at that point the only thing keeping your wheels mounted to the car is also taking all of the force from impacts and the weight of the vehicle. i still run them on my bird and my comet but its always in the back of my mind that one hard pot hole and the studs could break. Also when you tighten the wheel, go in a star pattern starting with the bottom left, top and then bottom right and the wheel will be centered to the axle
@@austin3627 I’m glad I was able to help. Yeah I see your point, but like I showed with the feeler gauge the rim is not actually touching the hub anyway, so technically it’s only the nuts holding the tire, although like you I prefer matching Hubs
Chrome the stock wheel.
If the center bore centered the rim, the lug nuts wouldnt be conical
Yeah that’s interesting. I guess each vehicle probably responds differently to a reversed coil
i saw a video of a guy get a 73 mustang running after just sitting for a while. the car was running terribly, he noticed the coil was set up backwards, so it does work but not very well, funny how such a small mistake can make you rethink everything, all mechanics suffer with that my dad was having electrical issues with his 69 firebird turns out it was just a film on his battery terminals lol
did you plug any holes internaly ?
