Unlike many serious music aficionados I think he has a positive role in concertgoing. If some of his fans come to realize that there are far better musicians (not talking about showmen here) around, so much the better for them. And if they don't, so much the worse for them, but nobody is hurt. And better-equipped listeners will continue to enjoy listening to the true musicians.

I'll comment only on the beginning and ending. I tell you, you'll never hear any pianist play the opening chords at such a pretentious, tortured crawl as what he does here. Now in regard to the ending, you'll never hear this coda played in such a precipitous, overly rapid tempo. These extremes of tempo (too slow or too fast) have ruined many of his performances, and it must be said that each of these "vices" could be so easily avoided if he'd just give some serious thought to musical proportions, that is, to what extent the tempo of one section of a work should contrast with the tempo of an adjacent section.
