Why 9709 went back to Denver is because it needed to have service check I think.

It was serviced by bn/bnsf and great western but it’s not really serviced often anymore. The most the trackage around there is used for is usually storage. The old sugar beet mill is largely used for small operations now. Can’t remember what they use it for.

Seems like something is still going on there because every so often the cars are different. I have never seen them getting switched out but the ones that are up there change.

Yes. The switch (one that runs to Fort Collins with the SD70MACe and the ES44C4) is on the left and the buck (the one that runs to the Broomfield branch and Lyons cement plant with the 2 GP39-3s) is on the right.

They have it as a spacer in-between the locomotive and the passenger car with all of the sensors on it. It is basically so the heavy weight of the locomotive does not mess up the readings that the sensors are getting of the track.

I hope so. It sounds like they are going to do it. I hear that they did another test up to Fort Collins about a week or two ago. I found out after though.

No I don’t. This was my first time railfanning GW and I basically just followed the tracks until I found them. It seems that they almost always run on Monday though. I will ask one of my friends that knows more about it.

I have asked around and it seems like they do not really have a schedule. It all depends on the supply and demand of the places they service.
