Over Now is one of my favourites from self-titled because of the haunting Jerry guitar. The song moves from light and cheerful to melancholic while Jerry says goodbye to his band through the beautiful sad soundscape he creates. A little David Gilmour in tone.

One of the most painfull things I ever learned while listening to Layne's and all of their work, is that Layne was singing Jerry's lyrics about his addiction. I don't think many can understand what it is like for your best friend to write songs about your most vulnerable position (and for it to be a contractual arrangement, meaning you have to subject yourself to this, by contract) and for you to have to sing it, by contract, and get down. "Yeah here is your face smacked back into your face, no dont be shy." FUCK THAT! The industry killed Layne.

I got into alice in chains and layne staley not so long ago, eventhough I'm 46. But mad season that's something I think I love the most from Layne. Awesome band! All songs on the album are master pieces ❤

This song means a lot to me. Bless your heart you have explored this song better (esp for Jerry’s part) than anyone I have seen. I have only really connected with laynes vocal but stopped this video to have a listen at Jerry’s part specifically. You are so right! Going back to the beginning for another listen 🎧

One reason for the jankiness might be that Layne wasn't on the original studio version, it was Ann Wilson. So they must not have sung the song much together.
