I remember hearing and listening to this song when either living with or visiting with my mother's parents pastor Henry Pettus Effinger and Sister Minnie Elizabeth Effinger, mother and brother in my grandparents Pastor Henry's and Minnie's house. I heard it again being played on the radio in my Great Eva's car after we funeralized my grandaddy Pastor Henry Pettus Effinger and we were on our way to the Cedar Oak Memorial Park. My grandfather's and my brother's grandfather pastored The Evening Light Church of God located right nexdoor to The Old Hightown Church of God in The neighborhood Hightown in Northport, Alabama.

I met you a long time ago at Oakwood University. Gregory Forbes introduced me to you when we were backstage. I had never heard you sing before and when you went on that stage and started singing, my mouth dropped open I said where in the world did this man come from and who writes like that?! I was mesmerized. I was attending Alabama A&M University at the time they had a talent show and I decided to sing “Rainy Day Christian” for the talent show. Gregory Forbes was on piano, and when I started to sing that song, the whole crowd got quiet because they had never heard of it, when I got to the end of the song where you say where are you when I need you? That’s when you go up high on that, there was not a dry eye in house it was something special to behold. I personally think it’s time for you to re-release that music because people need to hear it. People need to hear you people need to witness this very talented man.

Somehow I never saw this interview ... Bravo Tim on landing Sir Bailey in this interview. Such an incredible artist and you're so right in that the songs and production on all those early releases were so ahead of their times. I'm still trying to get my hands on that one R&B release of Bob's ... too many moves and lost storage units that decimated my record collection.
