Still rocked one in Afghanistan in 2009. So long as you have ammo and water up front on your belt as a counter balance, you can pack pretty heavy in a butt pack; otherwise your belt will ride up in front.

I got these and i plan to make a smersh type rig out of these for an AR. Running this with Afghanka kit would be really drippy.

Damn I bought the ones from fox outdoors and they're really not that great. Theyre connected at the top so it makes it uncomfortable to wear because it hurts my neck.

If I did need more water or needed things like NVG’s I didn’t like the ILBE but the “assault pack” from that system was good to go. you could throw all the extra stuff for longer durations away from the vehicles.

Canteens: you can get Nalgene canteens in the 1 quart USGI form factor. The water tastes a lot better from Nalgene than whatever the plastic was used in the military canteens. The Nalgene models are "Sustain" and "Oasis".

It can fade when used enough. I have the same repro one and I bet soon it will fade with enough airsoft game.
