George thanks for this but could you tell us how to make a move from the UK in terms of the practical aspects? Where do you look for a house? hkw do you transport possessions from the UK? What paperwork and retirement visa do you need and how do you apply, how do you set up healthcare and what about the langauge etc? This would really help! Cheers my friend!
How do you phyically do the move though? How do you get your possessions over there, how do you find a place to live etc? Would love a video on the practical aspects of the move. Cheers!
I’m moving to Buriram in 2 years with my Thai wife. We can live comfortably up there on 35,000 THB per month.
Pardy? Modorbike?
Just on that can you get decent butter someone said there butter is shite
go round at night lol
Thumbs up 👍 George
Cheers mate thanks for watching 🇹🇭👍
Morning George ,from Misty drizzly North Yorkshire . Thanks for your informative video that I ve just seen . One theory regarding the profusion of bars and massage parlours in Hua Hin that another blogger commented on , was the relocation of lots of bars and massage parlours relocating form Pattaya as that city is over run by them , it sounds logical with the squeeze in the economy worldwide affecting tourism too and the more pleasant environment of Hua Hin of course . When I was staying near Khoa takieb in july one of the massage parlours that I used said its getting more and more difficult with so many more parlours opening , and thats on the outskirts of Hua hin too , rents going up and hardly any business . The girl was quite clued up that I was talikng to , saying that a lot more sugar is being added to the food in the area even in smoothies , perhaps thats why I seen more overweight girls than 10 years ago , nowhere near as bad as the UK though . looked like you enjoyed your warm bath at the end , cheers
Thanks for watching from North Yorkshire hope the weathers not to bad mate for you mate 🇹🇭👍
@@georgenewmaninthailand2495 no its got worse George . hoping for an Indian summer . Them bloody jet streams over the UK are never going away , just some summers are worse than others . Tomorrows half decent so going for a beach walk a couple of mates from Redar to Saltburn 🙂
sorry Redcar
Hi George,l just found your Chanel and l subscribed.😊😊😊
@@enzopastore5811 thanks mate new video every Saturday about Thailand 🇹🇭
Fun as always George! Thanks!
Cheers mate glad you enjoyed it 🇹🇭👍
Checking out Hua Hin myself for a few days and just took that same walk this morning. Agree that the number massage palors is crazy. Even before lunch, all were open for business.
Yes mate feel sorry for them must be hard to make living 🇹🇭👍
Hua Hin bar crawl, George-style ... Lol
😂😂🇹🇭
Nice video. When did you take it ? I've seen lately some videos with flooded streets in Pattaya. Was that the same case in Hua hin ? Keep up the good work.
Few weeks ago mate 🇹🇭👍
Thx. Just signed for yr videos. Swiss here, 60+ with Swiss spouse. Hopefully moving to Thailand in two years. We know Asia as we lived there when still working. Until recently Phuket was top on our list but seems to deteriorate more and more. Haven’t been there for a while, same for Hua Hin. Before moving we‘ll make a three months trip to different places before deciding. But more and more Hua Hin seems to combine good life, affordability, services, stuff to do, possibility to go to Bangkok once or twice a year and more. But again, need to go there first. For now, we‘ll watch what you’re showing us and try to manage our great longing. Best from Zurich area, Pete
Thanks for sharing Pete sounds like you’ve got a plan. Glad you enjoyed the video look out for future videos 🇹🇭👍
@@georgenewmaninthailand2495 Thanks, will certainly do 👏🏻😉
Love your walk about.
Cheers mate glad you enjoyed it🇹🇭👍
You old clubber you George ....
😂😂
We are in hua hin over Christmas 2024 , can anyone just walk here in and use the beachclub coffee bar ? Cheers
Yes mate they have separate car park you can drive down 🇹🇭👍
Thanks for the video, does not matter which is better? Majority of these farangs and expats are going and flying back and forth to Thailand and Philippines vice versa as they can't make up their mind. You will do the same thing too. Both countries have the same concepts as quality of life, nightlife and everything.
@2:57 , oh man, Geoergie, that sound EFX sacred the hell out of me !
Oh really sorry mate
Dang George, Carapace Hotel, for February (I'll be in Hua Hin) min. $200 / night! 😢 I'll be staying at the Sirin Hotel ($45 night) between Soi 61 & Kanjanomai, not too far from the beach (& Soi Bintabaht). 😂
Ok thanks for watching 🇹🇭👍
Nice place but a bit pricey
Fair play 🇹🇭👍
I live elsewhere in Asia, not Thailand (yet!!), but i think the best way for Thailand is keep the THB budget as small as possible and have dollar denominated investments overseas set up already. Only remit into Thailand what you need to live there if you areliving there >183 days / year and triggering tax residency and the need to file a local tax return. There are other ways to stucture this if your living costs in Thailand are higher than a few thousand usd/month
Ok thanks for watching and sharing mate🇹🇭👍
We will be in Hua Hin in 2025 to look at it...Chiang Mai and Da Nang. Deciding where to retire. Thanks for the videos!
Nice one enjoy 🇹🇭👍
Good information my friend thank you
No worries🇹🇭👍

Can foreigners buy a land and build?
It’s difficult most guys over here buy and build with their Thai wife it’s just easier process as long as you have a stable relationship only you can answer that question 🇹🇭👍
Please… you keep sticking your fingers in my face!
Great video George. What a beautiful location and so quiet….thanks for sharing your morning walk 😝
No worries lovely spot 🇹🇭🙏
Hi there. Planning to move from Jomtien when my lease is up. Can you recommend some condo complexes to check out within say, under 300 meters from the beach in a nice quiet location please? thanks in advance
Thumbs up 👍 George
Cheers mate thanks for watching every week 🇹🇭👍🙏
Thailand sounds great and everything, but at 61, the one thing I worry about is the quality of healthcare there. I’m sure minor issues are not a problem but what if you get a big issue like a heart problem or even worse cancer?
Yep health care is a issue everywhere you go and as you get older it is a problem if your that concerned maybe Thailand is not for you 🇹🇭👍you can always holiday in Thailand mate not everyone has to retire here 🇹🇭🙏
As a healthy retirement age man , single and experienced Asian traveller . For me personally , taking into account the fact that inflation will keep rising so everything will keep going up accordingly . 80 to 120 000 Baht monthly for a comfortable lifestyle , and 1 million at least as emergency for pay as you need health care or emergency trip back to your home country for various reasons , or hopping over to other great Asian countries that are handy to Thailand for Romantic weekends or to see friends
Thanks for sharing mate 🇹🇭👍
Morning from England George . A rather large wow factor in todays video George , Sublime view up the top there , so serene spot for your own head space at 8 am . nice to see you went for a dip mate , ideal for that too . I was at Ao Manao beach in July , ab fab too , you can walk out half a mile up to your waist for a swim and ideal for kids too . When I seen the title of todays video , I thought you were referring to us here in the UK to escape the madness !! 🤣Have a great weekend and thanks for your time and energy
Thanks for watching mate yes that coast line is lovely the further down you go. Nice to experience some nature 🇹🇭👍🇬🇧
@@georgenewmaninthailand2495 Its always nice to watch your video s George . I was actually based near Khao Takieb which is also nice , so handy to Hua hin too . Nice trip and fab low season deal in The Rock hotel and spa , top spot to relax and research potentially retiring along that coast , so your videos have been very helpful . cheers

Looks amazing, George!
Lovely area mate check it out when your in Thailand 🇹🇭 thanks for watching 🇹🇭🙏
@georgenewmaninthailand2495 I am! Down south atm but heading to kanchanaburi soon. Was thinking of a long roadtrip passing by Hua hin but decided against it. Maybe next time!
Hua Hin is nice. Not special but nice. As everywhere the novelty wears off after many years of living here. My wife who is Thai doesn't really ever want to visit here hometown Korat let alone live there again so that must be a big plus for Hua Hin
@@guytolputt6140 like anywhere after a long period of time it’s gets boring I can say the same for everyplace in the world 🇹🇭👍that’s why everyone should travel regularly have a base like Hua Hin but travel to keep everything fresh and new
Beautiful beach walk! What beach are you at? 🌊 🏝
In Hua Hin mate other side of monkey mountain beautiful walk that beach and no one there 👍🇹🇭so peaceful
Are in hua hin also many young expats or many younger tourists from western countries?
I understand the 80000 per month for both are without health insurance, right?
Yes
@@georgenewmaninthailand2495 Thank you! Have a great day
Don’t expect from a golfer in Hua Hin that he travelled a lot during the first year 😅
😂😂
I‘m 61 and my wife 63 (we’re currently in Europe) and we just got a quote for int health ins, no deductibles, no pre ex cond and no accident (!). 5000-6000 dollars per person per year. May go down a bit if we opt deductibles. Will go up again if we take accident, what we of course need. No dental included. Inpatient and outpatient covered. Better and therefore more expensive options are those paying bills from doctors and hospitals directly, so no reimbursing required. Less hassle for sure. This to give an idea if good cover wanted. Comments welcome from people already I. Thailand with a decent cover.
Thanks for sharing guys 🇹🇭👍
Do you have an international health insurance? May I ask what you pay annually? I’m 61 and just got quotes from many providers. All charge at least 5000 dollars per year.
I don’t have my wife’s job covers our family for insurance
Appreciate your straightforward delivery of the info. I'm 41, looking to move over in within 5 years. I have friends in Jomtien and BKK, but like the idea of HuaHin possibly, Can I ask why you choose to live there?
I don’t live there mate but think it’s good for retirement. If your younger and still working Bangkok is better for business but depends what you coming to Thailand for !!
"He He He....turned out nice again!"😁
For sure mate🇹🇭👍
SPOT ON ! Pinas has better women and the people are nicer and everyone speaks English. I could never live long term in Pinas due to the terrible infrastructure and total chaos everywhere even in small cities. Also, you get WAY more for the money in Thailand in everything. Totally agree about the women !
Thanks mate glad you agree 👍
George I’m retired here 2 1/2 years and still in holiday mode 🤦🏽🤦🏽
Ha ha 🤣
Hold on.how much money is up to me.if your daft thats up to you.there is no fixed sum.and your cap is just dopey😂
It’s just a cap 😂😂
Hi George here HH for first time checking things out for retirement. How much would you say comfortable for a couple would need . So many things to consider being looking at villas drove right down south staying at all different towns right to chumpon.being with realestate today could retire here so many people say different things good vlog. No use comming here and struggling
For a couple I think you need about 70000- 80000 baht a month is fine. Plenty of people spent less than that and some a lot more but for me I think that’s a nice budget.
Just want to point out living in Chiang Mai 30000 is do able , Rent 7000 with Pool Phone Power Fuel Gym 2000 Food 4000 Leaves 17000
140 baht a day for food really ? Don’t think supermarkets are cheaper up there mate maybe I’m wrong !!
I spend more than that on tea milk and sugar a day
