Carla’s inclusion is interesting to me. She didn’t “transcend” like the other women did. She was very successful as a Model but there were a lot of successful models back then that *shared the runway* with The Supers. That doesn’t mean they were Supermodels too. Had Carla not married a President & gotten attention for her folksy music she wouldn’t still be spoken about. Whereas Helena Christensen & Stephanie Seymour are still remembered and regarded as Iconic Supermodels. I just feel like overtime we’ve lost perspective of who the actual “Supers” were and who was just another “successful model on the same Runway.” The Supers made big cultural impressions purely through being Models. Name recognition FROM MODELING. Carla (and many others often featured on lists like this) didn’t do that.
