Cinematic Night Photography || Lightroom Editing Workflow
Today I am editing a foggy self-portrait that I recently took. Using COLOR RESPONSE CURVES I'm going for a Kodak 250D emulation with a bit of a personal twist while trying to create a moody cinematic atmosphere that will compliment the lonely photo. I hope you get some entertainment watching my photo editing workflow and maybe learn something as well.

And in this video, I tackle vertical mounting solutions for GoPros, from creating a custom Arca Swiss-compatible plate to designing a POV neck mount and another vertical mount that is perfect for capturing the camera's POV. With these 3D-printed accessories, I'll show you how to ...

Self Portrait with very saturated colors || Lightroom Photo Workflow
Переглядів 124Місяць тому
The approach you use when editing a shot with a lot of saturated colors it crucial. LED lights emit a very narrow band of light and this makes it difficult to use most of the usual Lightroom tools especially if you don't had any source of white light while taking the photo. I want screen cover anamorphic 3d ?
I know some "purists" enjoyed the before more but your edit makes the photo look surreal and unique. Almost as if it's a render in made in blender. Great job! And on a side note one can simply make the complete edit save it as preset and use a preset slider to go less heavy-handed but still add a nice flair to the photo. p.s I am not good at such complex edits so I'm thankful for the knowledge you share
To each his own! I'm not forcing anyone to adopt the stylized look that I'm chasing. But that tip for toning down the edits its nice ideea
Hey. I reached to this video from Reddit. Thank you so much for storing.
Thanks for checking out my work. And hello to anyone else who is coming from r/postprocessing
Great video! I love how you focus on practical DIY solutions and hacks rather than the typical gear recommendations. The L bracket and 3D printed accessories are especially creative and useful ideas.
Thanks for watching!
Cool vid thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Great photo. Where can I get the simulation used for the photos.
thanks vmoldo.gumroad.com/
Subbed, this was nice. Could you make a video showing how to use PS to maybe create a profile of a film stock using the colour response curves? Resolve is of course a tough sell for the workflow, but doing it as a one-off to actually get the profile set up in LR could be worth it. Digital sensors are usually linear in their response to light (linear luminance curve), but do you know if there are any luminance curves for film stocks too?
I could definitely do one of those vids as well. As for the luminance respons curves, I actually have a thing called filmic tone limiter on my preset store that does something very similar and now that you pointed out i should give it an update with some film curevs borrowed from davinci
amazing intro! 😂😂
Thanks 😅
Hey man , found you over Reddit. Like the video, looking forward to watch the rest of your videos!
Put the link to your site in the video description!
welcome aboard. hope you will find them useful. and thanks for the reminder
Nice job editing an image from a go pro. Good stuff.
Thanks 👍 GoPro has solid Raw files, too bad they dont have much support in the Adobe ecosystem...
Invest in your teeth instead ... And of course the fake plant is like your personality 👏👏
You're so ugly !
you're cringe
Came over from Reddit. Wow. That's a LOT of work, but all very educational. I learned a ton. Thank you so much.
Reddit fam!!! I was truly shocked at how much love there was for my work on there today when i woke up. Hope my vids will get even better along the way
Incredible work, and thanks for the tutorial it was quite eye opening.
Glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully theres a small nugget thats usefull in all of my vids
Beautiful image man, and insane workflow. I’ve never seen a workflow like this before, definitely gave me some ideas for how I approach my photography
Great to hear!
New subscriber.
Welcome aboard!
I find these videos both useful, and relaxing to watch. Thanks for making them!
Happy to hear that! I'll try to keep them coming while also mixing them with long format exploration into camera hardware in the future.
have you tried the dehancer lightroom plugin? could save you a lot of time, their 2383/3513 film print simulations are pretty good and the grain is probably the closest to film scans ive seen from a single software. and you have some extra films profiles, somewhat usable bloom tool and a hopelessly broken halation tool too.
to answer your questio: can use the code GRAINISGOOD for 20% of on dehancer stuff and ill get a few cents as well. that aside. I prefer to keep it in lightroom for workflow reasons. the way dehancer bales all the edits into a Tiff and you cant go back and edit them is not my cup of tea
That's a great trick ! Can you use it for film photography ? I mean, does it affect the f-stop at all ? And does the diameter of the hole matter ? I've been looking for a swirly bokeh wide lens for my Krasnogorsk-3, and this could be a great solution if I can make it
You are asking for a lot. My advice is to prototype it with the lens you want to mod mounted on a digital camera if possible. Now to answer your questions yes it will stop down the lens the small the hole is. yes the diameter matter and a good starting point would be to cover around 10% of the frontal element of the lens or maybe even less. and the wider the lens less likely to work without some vignette but give it a try and let me know how it worked
You show very helpful tricks along the way, thanks!
Glad you like them!
really nice job! found some good inspiration here for the rut I am in, so thank you! really like the use of two duplicated radial gradients to make it less obvious, smart!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi, thanks for the tips! How to seguo the wifi?
Im going to assume you wanted to say "setup the wifi". After plugin in the repeater for the first time you connect to its wifi and have to select the cameras wifi, and enter its password. next it will create a *camera'snetwork- ext* wifi that you can connect your phone to. And from there you just use the usual Sony app to remote control it. Ill try to make a vid explaining it as well soon
that is so easy but so cool!
exactly! simple and efficient
Very nice video thank you 🙏
Very nice job of actually getting the shots so similar between the lenses. Nice video overall!
thanks. i wanted to find this out for myself and share it with others
Pretty cool technique here....gonna start experimenting with this, and i actually do kinda enjoy using Resolve for photos sometimes, the film look creator is great for effects. And also neat to see you're based out of Brasov, had the privilege of spending a few days there and it was beautiful. Would love to visit Romania again someday.
Hi! This is awesome! Could you now put together and sell the Nikon Picture Control settings that match to each of these profiles? This way we could see on the jpeg shown at the back of the camera the same starting point we’ll get when we apply the equivalent profile to the raw image in Lightroom!
As far as i know, for Nikon Picture Control You can only adjust the tone curve and not the individual R G an B channels, but ill look into it since Im also shooting Nikon. Depending on what kind of work you do this might or might not be realistic, but if you want to see it on camera you can get an external monitor and load the film LUTs on to it
Smoothhhhh
great vid mate 💪🏻
thanks!
What about action cameras ?
the only one i tried is the GoPro. the fixed focal lenght that is also very wide is not enough for photography content where i might want to show some gear. my experience with it and obs is also bad but i dont have a media mod
you can get the backdrop from here: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DlwTU0B
very nice!
Pure art, amazing work! 🔥🔥
hi!. I'm struggling with the "copy paste" color response curve. What is the name of the program that allows you to overlays the curve? I can't find it. Thanks for everything!!
PureRef
PureRef
Hey, how do I get that the waveform shows me the curve in red, green and blue? I only get 3 curves but they are all the same color.
hey i had sucess with the following settings: top right corner of the waveform you have a setting button 3 lines with circles on them. i select RGB as a mode, check all the 3 channels, check colorized, uncheck extents and the slider called waveform dragged to the left but not completely. Imagine trying to set it to 2/100. 0/100 will make them disappear. 1/100will give very thin lines that area easy to follow and 100/100 will make them white
I also updated the article to include this information and a screenshot with how my waveform settings look on the blog. Thanks for pointing it out!
Just when I think I have enough color grading how-to videos saved on UA-cam, I find another gem like this
This is an interesting and clever way to achieve film color. I use to import DNG raw file into davinci resolve and color grade with film emulation, but the color space and how it interact with photo seem not quite right
DaVinci is powerful and can handle Raw files well but its just not meant for this so the workflow is difficult and file management is a pain.
Actually this is a very good tutorial. Thanks.
glad you like it. i do have a lot more like it
GoPro 9 /11 /12 In the danger zone
A good thing about this is that most people uses digital devices and they wouldnt bat an eye if your grain emulation is fake or not, ofc an exception is IMAX, such are ones that are impossible
What an in depth look on grains bro, most people can't afford film and these are the ways they can have it on their hands.. Great information. Not everybody is just trying to emulate these but also use it for new creative purposes and direction, you could have the digital capture of a camera while having the most realistic grain emulation and it would look nice and new.
This is great

This is so cool to learn, thanks! Really nice content on this channel.
glad you like my stuff
what is bro's fyp...
Thank you for your honest review! Dehancer team
My pleasure. I'm loving the grain I can get from your plugin
Thanks for the very instructive video :)
Glad it was helpful!
