This is a very sad development. That kid has talent in spades but something was not working with his spirit, his heart wasn't in the game. There must be something going in his life outside of hockey that drove him to this. Very sad indeed.

Nurse did have his head downward but started to look upwards but was to late. You could see Reaves moving his body upwards for the hit to the head. He could have just crushed him with a normal body shot. He's had 3 suspensions already and multiple warnings. I think how many games Nurse misses should be the games Reaves is suspended for. Makes sense and hopefully will set a precedent for shitty dirty players.

I think 5 game suspension is warranted, Reaves had enough time to position himself and target either an unsuspecting player in the head (principal point of contact) or a body. He opted for the former and that is also the main reason for such a lengthy suspension.

The most frustrating thing for me is seeing how bad the defense is in most games and the only thing happening on a roster level is literally spin the wheel of forwards whoever it lands on is scratched today. Even in the offensive zone defensmen are making RISKY passes often, the problems dont end in our own zone with them. I felt so bad for Blomqvist after that game against edmonton. 50 shots against man its just depressing.
