"Home" - Bruno Major (Tutorial)

Tuning: 6th - drop C 5th - drop G 4th - D 3rd - G 2nd - B 1st - drop D CAPO - 4th fret This video demonstrates a slowed down run through of the tune on guitar only. After that I show an up-to-speed run through with vocal. I intended for this to explain the tuning/capo placement of the tune and clearly show the voicings. To me they seem accurate to the recorded version on Bruno's "A Song for Eve...

Early February 2019 ski trip to Jackson, Wyoming inspired some friends of mine & I to write a tune about our travels. Thanks to @sirhelmet and @kreeegmedia for helping put this together.

Covering Damien Rice's classic "Cannonball". I've known this tune for a while but haven't ever recorded it. Here's my take on another great tune from Damien Rice!

"Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper
Переглядів 2296 років тому
Doing an acoustic version of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time". I was inspired to do this tune by one of my favorite artists (Sam Beam aka Iron & Wine) who covered it this way. Thanks for listening and I hope you enjoy!

Colour me In (Damien Rice cover)

A tune I've always liked off of the 2014 Damien Rice release "My Favourite Faded Fantasy".
plucking pattern?
Let’s try tabs next time on screen
Great work Chris, this is bang on.
Hi, do you have chords for this?
nice
Does someone have a tab for this? If so can you please send it over to me. I would like to see if im playing it right.
So so so beautiful
Thank you
Good playing...how you made a semi hollow PRS sound like a Sears special is beyond me lol😅
trop bien
No. Time.
Really nice and laid back, never fell behind once
So awesome 😄
Beautiful tone! Can you please explain your rig set up? Thanks!
This was a very simple “in bedroom” set up just to get some sound out. I have a Hughes & Kettner tubemeister 18 head I was running (on the overdrive channel) into a Hughes & Kettner TM112 cabinet. Guitar is a PRS Hollowbody II.
@@chrissmith_music Thank you!
🎸🎶👌
Bloody excellent!

Hey Chris. It was an honor to be able to listen to you play that. My favorite song and solo. I cannot imagine how long that took you to learn. Makes me want to throw my guitar away. Lovely PRS too!
Thanks, Chas! It did take a bit to work it out and put together but totally worth getting into it. Amazing solo. Glad you enjoyed.
Just snapped my A string 🥰
Horrible misuse “tone wise” of this instrument
Omg. Good job
Hi Chris - Lovely playing, touch, and feeling - Thank you for sharing - Cheers - John
Thanks, John!
Great!
Get it, Larry!
Nice....nailed it!
Excellent !
You're the only person I've ever heard to nail the very last part!!! I love it
Yep. 🎶
Nailed it! Well done.

That was really beautiful!
Playthrough with vocal 4:25 [Intro] 0:15 [Verse 1] 0:40 There's no life, without love they say None worth having anyway You're a mystery to me some days That's what keeps me sane A heart that yearns is always young But you can't love just anyone It's been a while since 21, I still feel the same [Chorus] 1:18 Take me home and don't spare the horses Away to a silence I need Take me home and don't spare the horses Away to a gossamer breeze I don't need to build a house of stone Wherever you are's where I call home [Verse 2] 'Cause we're just you and me We drink and laugh and dance 'till 3 I have everything I need when I'm with you alone Home is where we stay all night No roof above our starry sky I'd lie here till the day I die and our time together's flown [Chorus] Take me home and don't spare the horses Away to a silence I need Take me home and don't spare the horses Away to a gossamer breeze I don't need to build a house of stone Wherever you are's where I call home [Instrumental Break] [Bridge] And I know I've made mistakes at times Every now and then I've made you cry For that I'm sorry They were few and far between We're closer now than we've ever been You know I'm sorry [Outro] I used to wonder why I'm here No rhyme no reason would appear Since we've met, it's loud and clear I'm here to see you home
Tabs/chords?
Can you pls show how you tuned your guitar for this song, I'd really love to learn it
yes, the tuning is “CGDGBD”. Does that help? I can also explain further/demonstrate for you.
Melhor cover que já ouvi de Damien Rice. Parabéns
Absolutely love your voice Chris!👏❤ Would you be interested in performing live on Sessions? Just messaged you on Instagram and Facebook!
Sorry I haven’t gotten back, been busy. I’ll have to check out the sessions and see about getting involved.
Good job kiddo!
Thank you, Pretty.
so lovely
Thank you, Hannah.
did you ever make a tab for this song?
Not yet, but I need to do this. I’ll let you know and include in description
Thank you! You’re the best.
Excellent. Lovely. :)
Thank you.
Real nice job!!!
love it so much! Hope you come back some day. Will wait for your new music!
The first string on your guitar is drop C, not drop D 😊
First string (smallest, on the bottom) is indeed tuned to drop D. The 6th string (largest, on top) is tuned to drop C.
@@chrissmith_music my bad! got really confused with that one 😅
drive.google.com/file/d/1Cew6xiFgcfwKiBohd-L__8xifNHeqRmK/view?usp=sharing Transcribed for anyone interested. Also, ignore the rests this is the first song Ive tried to transcribe and idk how to use my software. CAPO on 4th, 6th - drop C , 5th - drop G, 4th - D, 3rd - G, 2nd - B, 1st - drop D
link not working :(
Oh man! This is beautifully done! I found your tutorial and it will help me learn this song. Thank you so much. Subbed
This exposure of chords will convinced me that Bruno Major is a genius composer.
it's been three years since this comment, i agree with you
Hey this seems simple enough to play, and is a really pretty song. It’s just hard to tell what the exact voicings of these chords are based on the camera angle especially towards the end of the verses. If you could tab this out/ make a tutorial where you just go through and walk us through the actual chords I think a lot of viewers would appreciate it. It can get extra confusing when you’re voicing a full chord but not playing certain strings.
I'll look into tabbing and/or getting some clearer footage of voice-ings. Thanks for the feedback.
Awesome vid, man. Subbed :)
Parted with a girl that meant the world to me. But we grew apart after many years together. Thanks for this video, really. I will learn this song thanks to you sharing this. ☺️
Learned in five hours and can play with Bruno's video. Thanks again, it has really helped

Glad I could help!
I’ve never changed the tuning of my guitars before because I was too afraid that the strings would break but this song is making me change my mind. Do you have any tips to prevent that from happening or how to know if your guitar should be down tuned? I’ve read a few things saying that cheap guitars’ strings tend to break but idk what they mean by cheap or if my epiphone dove pro falls under tbat category? Aside from that beautiful job on this tutorial hope to hear back from you. Take care
Daniel Lopez if you’ve got relatively new guitar strings on your guitar, this shouldn’t be a problem for breaking a string. Older strings may have more tendency to break but you can always have a new set on hand to replace any broken strings. It all depends but if a tuning calls for strings being tuned higher than they’re normally supposed to be in standard tuning, that’s when I’ve typically had issues for breaking strings in regards to doing alternate tunings. This song however tunes strings down (so they’re looser than they are in standard tuning) so you might have less issues with breakage. But if you play a lot of guitar like I do, just have extra strings on hand and you can always put a new one on if it breaks. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Chris Smith Music thank you so much man!
Tune the D string to G?
Toothkiller no. 4th string (D string) stays as D.
Tuning is at the beginning of the video
