A fantastic app switcher for macOS, with ONE major flaw
I came across TabTab on X (Twitter) a few weeks ago and it got my attention enough to give it a try. TabTab replaces the default Cmd + Tab menu on macOS, with something a lot more functional. In this video, I walk through my likes and dislikes of this app, to help you decide if it's worth using!

TabTab can be found at: tabtabapp.net/
It was created by Richard Qi, you can find his socials and support him at x.com/riccqi
I have no affiliation with either the app or its creator! I'm just a software developer based in the UK with a passion for discovering cool new apps and occasionally making my own.

Full Recap of 2024 in AI... Start here to catch up & prepare for 2025!
Переглядів 661День тому
In this video, I try to cover every major AI development or breakthrough that happened in 2024 (though I will have undoubtedly missed many!). 2024 was most certainly the year of AI, if there ever was one. Almost every week we saw a new model, wrapper, code editor or creative tool. The AI landscape is changing so quickly that it's easy to lose track of the state of things, like which models and ...
9 Raycast features you won't be able to live without

I've been a Raycast user for 2 years, but this app is so full of features that I discover something new every day. In this video, I'll take you through some lesser-known features of Raycast that I discovered by taking a peek at their change-logs, blog posts and also tinkering with it myself. Some of these tools are productivity enhancements, others are small quality of life improvements to your...
Goodbye VSCode & Cursor! This is how startups will be built in 2025

In this two-part video, I break down 3 new tools that are rendering the way we've developed software obsolete: Vercel's "v0", Stackblitz's "Bolt" and Codeium's "Windsurf editor". We then use these tools to build an idea for a startup, showing that they aren't just hype, they really work! This is a completely independent video and I have no affiliation with any of the tools or companies discusse...

Best video , I’ve just started using it
In my opinion, AltTab is the best application for managing windows with an interface similar to Windows OS that solves all the "problems" you listed at the beginning of the video, and it is free!
google: alt tab macos
I don’t use cmd tab on the mac. I find screen switching ( 3 finger gesture) and splitting screen much convenient. Maybe Im in the minority here though
try mac os app called "alt-tab" instead
Window management "issues," pfft. 0:00-0:20 You Just described two of my favorite things about application switching on macOS haha.
One of the better app reviews I've come across on UA-cam, thanks for this!
@A_99_R thanks, appreciate it!
thanks buddy
Nice video! Whats the best way to reach out to you?
Everything sounds amazing but I don't use that many apps all the time so using the free version is going to be gret for me!
Ditto re Shortest, I also am looking foreward to trying it as a potential replacement for Selenium and Playwright; although frankly it's not easy to imagine a testing framework easier than Playwright. However, I can imagine the forthcoming era of AI agents greatly enhancing the development of software testing.
Playwright is great! Still, it's interesting to write a single sentence instead of 10-15 lines of code. I was also a bit surprised that shortest seems to generate the tests at runtime, rather than compile them once into code that can be run each time.
Hi Robin We’re a team of professional video editors and we’d love to help you elevate your content. We’re offering edits to show you what we can do! Let us know if you’re interested! Rohit
YT suggested this one to me, and the auto-quit feature is insane. I've been an active user of Raycats for several years, but I didn't know about that. After testing, I found that my Raycast was outdated and didn't have this feature! Thanks, man!
@@gopublicdan Glad you found it helpful!
I like Windsurf. It is sad that they no longer provide write mode for free users.
I think this is the new norm, at least for a few years. Bleeding edge AI models are needed to generate decent code and these are expensive to run. I think within 1-2 years there will be good enough models that are 10x cheaper, and then free tiers become a lot more viable.
Nicely done!
Thanks!
What songs are you playing?
Hey, the songs are royalty free tracks from Epidemic sound! You can see the title of each song before the song plays in the video.
Which one is good to build a chatbot with vector database?
For the UI I would start with v0 for the skeleton. Then either Windsurf or Cursor are good enough editors to iterate on the skeleton; you can ask them to use a vector database (e.g. chromadb, pinecone etc.) to store embeddings and they should be able to figure out how to install the packages and call the right APIs
@@RobinBilgil Thanks for suggestion
The windsurf free i.e. Codebase instead of Sonnet or ChatGPt ( after you exhaust the free tokens ) is really terrible , it is hardly useful except for the most mundane of tasks.
Guys this is marketing, the free tier of windsurf is poor. Unusable.
Hey, I’m a UK based developer with no association to any of these companies. I’d be interested to hear your experiences with Windsurf though. Since I made this video I’ve been struggling with resource exhaustion errors from their agent. Is that the same problem you’re having?
so then pay, 15 dollars for such a software is nothing
Let Hope These Tools Will Stay As Open Sources, They're So Cool
Bolt is a peice of garbage, asked something basic and got an error.
I've definitely seen this happen before, maybe 1 in every 5 tries. You can usually get it to fix the error by asking it
@RobinBilgil its just goes into a loop
The chapter transitions are slow and chapter images shouldn't be same!
So every AI tool is just around some particular app building framework. It makes sense. So if you create a new framework you can't expect much help from AI. It makes sense, so your video is a really helpful.
They're not necessarily tied to a particular framework, but you're right, they definitely work better with some than others! v0 is hyper-optimized around the NextJS ecosystem as they're owned by Vercel. I find Bolt to be a bit more capable outside of that ecosystem. If you make your own framework, you'll have to bootstrap it yourself or wait until LLMs are trained on your framework specifically!
Great video. Which of these apps are not free? Can you please add it in the description?
Thanks for the feedback! I've added the price of each app to the video description
i just knew warp. never really bothered discovering this os
What camera is that sat on your desk?
Hey, it's a Fujifilm X-pro 3!
@@RobinBilgil Ah, I thought I spotted an X-pro! Love the silver model...
The price of In your face is just wtf
@@pavelvedernikov8502 It is hard to justify on its own, I agree. It makes more sense if you already pay for Setapp to get access to other paid apps
Rectangle......Raycast.....I think
Hadn't heard about a few of these and will definitely try out Granola - Nice video!
Well done, keep going.
Thanks, appreciate it!
If that’s 99% of what you’re doing in raycast, you are missing waay so much. Because that’s 10% of what raycast can do. In fact half of the app mentioned in this vid can be done in raycast
@@MrWanted000 yeah I really should explore it more, I mainly use it as a spotlight replacement, but know there are lots of extensions for it too! What do you use it for the most?
First video of yours I have watched. Good selection of apps discussed. Will subscribe!
Thank you for the kind words!
Hello Robin! Most of these apps I use instead of them Raycast. However for ARC I have tried it for couple of months and thought the learning curve is not worth it and that Safari does the job but lately I’m having some issues with Safari so I’m looking for alternatives such as Brave. What are your thoughts on this? Arc didn’t actually Do much and maybe It won’t be stable/reliable overtime, however I do use it for ios. What do you use for ios as browser? And what password manager do you use especially for 2fa.
Great video showcasing productivity apps that actually make a difference - loving how you focus on practical tools that aren't commonly featured elsewhere! TextSniper would fit perfectly in this collection as it lets you instantly extract text from any non-selectable content on your screen, saving precious time for busy professionals.
Thanks for the comment. I haven't come across TextSniper before but will definitely check it out!
Warp requires an account and login for a terminal app. Hard pass. Iterm2 and learn tmux.
Raycast has it's own window management functions fyi
True, thanks for the tip! I forgot they introduced window management features. I’ve been a long time Rectangle user so I haven’t seen a reason to learn Raycast’s version
@@RobinBilgilyou can import the setting of rectangle on raycast. Is better
Bro loving your content and I personally suggest you to reduce the background music when you are talking at the start.
Thanks for the tip! Will take it onboard for next time
New channel is amazing. Keep doing good work. ❤
