💫 EXPLORE FREEDOM
United States
Приєднався 11 лип 2013
Greetings! My name is Vasily Simon. As I travel around the world, I record video commentary about my explorations.
✈️ Traveling the world without breaking the bank
✨ Enjoying life to the fullest
🧘♂️ Perfecting the art of inner peacefulness
📈 Constant self-improvement
In 2018, I became nomadic and traveled to Thailand, Netherlands, Mexico, Hawaii, and California, while maintaining a base in New York City. Gradually, I was detouching from having a base and living out of my suitcase. I explored Europe, Asia, South America. After moving to South Florida in 2020, I continued to travel extensively throughout the US states and internationally, including to Brazil, Mexico, and Russia.
Eventually, I became 100% nomadic and all of my possessions fit into one backpack and one medium-sized suitcase. 30 countries and counting.
Stick around if you want to know how I maintain this lifestyle. Subscribe to be notified about new videos and help my channel grow.

I'm amazed Vas , you've been killing it with this vlog.
Thanks mano. You've just discovered it, right?
it looks so much like downtown sao paulo
Interesting, I didn't feel much similarity but can kind of see it from your perspective.
Welcome to 'no tips' land 😂👍 Nice video and cool experience!
I was in Isaan in February and March 2020, I loved there, Thai people are awesome 👍 thank you for bringing up some memories 🙏 take care
Yes, the people are special there, so friendly, humble and welcoming.
I wanna travel to this place, so, apart from getting an immigration at Bangkok, how to get here?
There are direct flights from BKK to Ubon. Or you can go by bus. Going on land will take much longer, though.
take the 3rd class train, maybe stop to check Surin, Buriram, Sisaket... Thai people are awesome there 🙏

Not using video hashtags properly 4. Not sharing the video on social media There are a few more reasons. That's why your videos are limited to your channel. From a local, this city has been abandoned by the people in charge of it for years now, wasting money on campaigns and practically useless things.
That's too bad, it has so much potential. Hope it will improve.
Low income family buildings with that amazing view along the malecón, wow.
It really is! Living on the bright side
No bro, the "white house" is "el palacio legislativo". You shoud check it, it´s monumental.
Very pretty country!
Use te espesa 🫠🤣🤣🤣
If you pay with an foreigner credit card they deduct 20%
Is that really so? 🤔
@@xxfreedom Im not sure if it’s 20% or 22%
Unfortunately you went there in June, a month when there isn't much movement in the city due to the colder weather, those buildings you showed by the coast are for low income families, that is the barrio sur, where at one time most of the black families that derived from African slaves that escaped from Brazil lived at one point in history. Uruguay is a country that is laid back, not fast paced like our neighbors. It is a chilled back kind of atmosphere, where people take emphasis of the good things in life, family, friends, food, sports, quality of life is important to us. Unfortunately it takes a lot of money and time to fix old buildings and structures and some of them are in pretty bad condition but you can't help but to admire what was once was a beautiful building, you can see the Italian and Spanish style structures, the architecture is very diverse ! ... one thing that is for sure is that Uruguayans are warm hearted and we tend to be friendly and helpful to the tourists without invading your space nor expecting something in return !
My hosts were most gracious and we shared a fair amount of laughs over some local wine. :)
Uruguay es el mejor país mejor que Francia y mejor que París it's a part of a song
The reason that one needs to be a resident of Uruguay to buy cannabis is to STOP tourists from taking it out of the country to places where it's illegal and causing problems. It's for local consumption. The last thing Uruguay would want is to be known as an exporter of illegal drugs to the rest of the world.
Carlos, don't all other countries that legalized controlled substances have the same possibility of people taking them outside? You have border patrol to prevent that. Tourists are able to buy cannabis for personal consumption in the USA, Canada, The Netherlands, Thailand, and some other countries without needing to get pre-authorization. Just walk in and buy. Is Uruguay a special case for some reason?
@@xxfreedom thanks for your comment. Uruguay legalized cannabis in 2013 and I believe this rule goes back to that time. I remember at the time that the US had expressed concerns about what I mentioned above. Yes, today there are a lot of other countries where it is now legal, but I think that at that time (2013) the Netherlands was the only other country where it was legal.
@@CarlosEBernal I have a feeling things will loosen up as time goes on.
Gracias por visitarnos. Bienvenido siempre. Lindo video❤ Exitos
The Old City is the original colonial city built by the spaniards as a fortress, as Montevideo was planned as a naval base. Contrary to Buenos Aires which was an open city without walls. That building you entered at 12 minutes never had an open roof. It's tipical of buildings built over a hundred years ago with a central atrium and roof of glass to let the light in. Houses of that era were built likewise though usually smaller. The kioskos were brought from France at the beginning of the 20th century.
I appreciate you taking the time to provide more information about the Old City. It adds a whole new layer of appreciation to the history of the area. 🙏
muy lindo video pero el título debería ser ´´Comparando Montevideo con Buenos Aires´´
Jajaja, es justo. ¡Gracias por el apoyo!
Why is it that most vloggers focus on unattractive parts of the city? Ciudad Vieja has a lot of history but both it and the Centro district are neglected and unkempt. Fair enough to show the warts but a more balanced look would include Parque Rodó, Punta Carretas, Pocitos, Malvín, Punta Gorda, Carrasco.
Thank you for these pointers for my next visit. I think it's because people instinctively look for the historic center as a starting point. Also, I had a pre-recorded walking tour in my ears that took me through there (the VoiceMap app has some good tours).
@@xxfreedom Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately the downtown district (El Centro) and the historic centre (Ciudad Vieja) have seen better days. And Ciudad Vieja is empty on weekends since it is a business area with banks, government offices, etc and few, mostly poor, residents . That said there are several interesting places to visit - museums (public museums are free), cafés and restaurants like the Café Brasilero that you feature. My personal favourite is La Farmacia, a XIX century pharmacy converted into a trendy café. The Rambla, the seaside walk, goes on for more than 20 km and has some of the nicest views in town. The first section up to Parque Rodó and Playa Ramírez is not terribly interesting, but after that it is pretty nice.
I agree. In fact, the only unattractive part of the Rambla is the section you went to, which you correctly compared with NY. You missed the other 95%, which is beautiful.
Y que tal cerro punta yeguas la teja tambien
Great💕💕💕
Uruguay is. Example for latin america is a beatiful country and people ,look like european country ,punta del este is amazing city on atlantic coast
welcome to Uruguay
Maybe 1.5 million people just sleep and have their formal addresses within the borders of the Capital. But the actual daily population getting around is not less than 2.4 millions. Buy the way, the limited areas you walked down the city in this video are clearly the worse and not charming at all, those close to downtown or to the old city. Respectfully, seems like you have not much idea on where it is worth it to take a walk.
Good insights, thanks. Maybe you can make your own video showing us where it is worth it to take a walk. 😉
Maybe you shouldn't make a video and publish it if you can't handle simple constructive criticism.
@@gonzaloalvarezcortes7102 Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! 💚
I recommend the Tristán Narvaja fair on Sunday mornings, and try the BAJ peanut butter, on Paysandú street almost Gaboto, you will also see many antique and collectible curiosities
I don't know if you were aware of it but that cafe, Café Brasilero, has a rich cultural history for the country. People like singer Carlos Gardel and writer Eduardo Galeano used to frequent this place.
Just luck that I stumbled upon it. The atmosphere is definitely majestic and historic. It was a privelege to have lunch there. 😊
As a uruguayan resident i 100% agree with you in regards to the free sale of cannabis to tourists or non-residents. There has been a huge push towards liberalizing sale the way it is in places like Amsterdam or Colorado, but the older and more conservative part of the population has historically been and still is very much against it. If you as a tourist manage to get weed in any way it still is perfectly legal to posess or consume it anywhere you wish, let's just hope someday the limitations we have nowadays will be lifted
You are not American, you are not British. Where were you born ?
@@user-hy9os7mm7wWho are you asking? 😊
@ghostd00r Haha, yes, it is totally possible to sort it out with a local connection. 😂
Uruguay is a landmark example of democratic freedom, secularism, human rights and its highly advanced acceptance of the leglization of LGBT rights, use of cannabis and abortion amongst others
Very modern and beautiful country, example to America

That district you are in is like one of the most ghetto and crappy area in Taipei. Used to have a lot of older foreign hookers that attracts grandpas. The area used to be fully occupied by triads in the 70s to 90s. It’s now a very undeveloped area of Taipei.

Welcome to Taiwan!
Thank you 🙏🏻
Ooh what's the name of the restaurant with the cat?
I added the name and link to the description now!
You didn't even actually hit the Ari neighborhood lol. Looks like you were mostly across the otherside of the BTS - the main Ari neighborhood is on the otherwise from Soi Ari 1 - 5. Hadn't seen what you showed on video so might check it out, but the real Ari vibe is on the other side.
Whoops! Next time I will learn about the other side, thanks!
I lived in Soi Ari for six months. My flat had no stove or a microwave. I had to use the BTS to go to Thanon Sukhumvit to find restuarants. Soi Ari has many Thai ministries - Finance, Public Relations and the Bureau of the Budget. Thereis a large Public Relations Ministry School in Soi Ari.
It's off the beaten path for most visitors, but it has come a long way and now offers everything for comfortable living and going out. Thanks for sharing your memories!
Welcome to Taiwan! Where are you from?
Thank you! I come from Russia and USA. :)
I've been in Ubon last year. I found this place really nice and cheap. Also you can cross the border to Laos very quickly. People speaks more Lao than Thai, very beautiful ladies there. There I a place called Pattaya noi. Locals come to the place eating and chatting
It's a nice town! I want to go back some time. :)
You filming is just a little too fast other than that you are doing good , Enjoyed and had a good time in Bangkok .
Keeping it dynamic. ;) Thanks for watching!
Glad to see another video on Taiwan😀😀 2:46 Taoism and Buddhism are closely mixed and merged in many temples, and as local Taiwanese, I can hardly differentiate them. To explain this takes at least 500 words haha. Both them are polytheisms. Buddhism was from India, and Taoism was born in ancient China. During the past 2000 years, they got to mix together. I just googled and found an article saying that even experts and monks have difficulty differentiating them clearly. I'd say a more typical Buddhist temple would be less decorative, and Buddhist monks can't eat meat. The situation in Lungshan Temple is more complicated. Its main god is Guanyin, a god from Buddhism but got a bit localized in a Taoist way. Most gods in Lungshan Temple are Taoist gods though. 3:03 It's about bringing the prayers good fortune. As for "安太歲", people of certain ages are unfortunate in certain years, so they can pay for a simple ritual (lamp lighting) to avoid bad luck. I'm not a religious people and know little about this, so the above is just a very rough explanation.
Tourist night markets aren't just for tourists. Some locals also visit them. Especially in Huaxi Street Tourist Night Market, there're old and good eateries. I'm surprised that many shops there were closed in the video. Did you visit the night market near or during the Lunar New Year?
@@licon318 Thanks for adding more context, it certainly helps understand the complexities of the religion in Taiwan. This was filmed on December 29, 2022, not sure if it explains why many shops were closed. Perhaps too late into the night?
@@xxfreedom December 29 isn't the Lunar New Year, so perhaps it's because it's too late into the night. BTW, I like your videos a lot! I'm a local in Taipei, but seeing the city through your eyes is so interesting. Buddhas and bodhisattvas are from Buddhism, and most of the other gods are from Taoism. But as I said, many Buddhas and bodhisattvas have got localized and merged into Taoist practices. I'd say most (decorative) temples you saw in Taiwan are more Taoist. Buddhist temples are more modest and quite. In typical Buddhist temples, you can see bald-headed Buddhist monks. But the two religions are usually mixed in temples. Because both religions have many gods, rather than just ONE God as Christianity and Islam, it's easy for gods and practices from the two religions to mix together. Buddhism is more philosophical, with concepts like karma. People go to Taoist temples as if going shopping. If people want a boyfriend/girlfriend, they go see the god of love. If people need to pass a big exam, they go see the god of study. So free and easy.
11:15. Sorry, the lady didn’t just set up her shop randomly as you presumed. That street gets shut down for the night market and becomes pedestrian only. But the market looked empty that night likely due to rain so many stalls probably didn’t setup shop, otherwise the middle of the road would all be food stalls. Cars aren’t supposed to go in during market hours.
Tom, thanks for explaining. It makes sense now why lady was comfortable and almost defiant in her post. It was the market's right to dominate the street, not the traffics. Either way, you can imagine how strange it looks like to a freshly arrived foreigner.
Пешком? 😮
Part of the way drove, then hiked.

Villa market they sell Japanese products my friend, there are more than 100,000+ Japanese populations that moved to live here in Thailand. Yes I agree that about 25-30 years ago before they have a BTS skytrain there in Bangkok it’s more quite in some places but in some famous areas like Siam I have to say at that time it’s much more crowded my friend than nowadays because it’s the most famous meeting area for Bangkok teenagers. You are welcome my friend.
Thanks for your insights. Being an outsider commenter I can get things wrong sometimes, it's good to hear from someone more closely familiar with the city. 🙏
