I totally agree with this man's experience with "DEALERSHIPS FROM HELL". Dealerships are the most devious money-grubbing shysters on earth. A dealership is where our A4 was checked out to for purchase by this couple who were two "FREAKO-QUACK YUPPIE INTER-RACIAL WANNA BE CAR BUYERS" trying their best to drive us insane with belly-aching complaints every 3 seconds. People like this never buy anything because the female idiot always demands to use a dealer to inspect the car costing $350 just for a simple checkout. The money-grubber dealership took our awesome Audi A4 & found over $10,000 of repairs....from motor mounts, to internal engine hoses that cost $4000 to replace then the brakes needed to be redone & transmission service & so much more, that they had to stop at $10,000 of repairs since they only wanted to smack us dead with service BS. Our A4 has only 60,000 miles on it while every service Audi requested us to do....had been done at 10k miles, then 25k, 50k and now we just finished the 60k mile service. So....WTF man. To hold us responsible for rebuilding our entire car after all the money we paid for regular Audi service requirements, really pissed me off. This was nothing short of theft. I walked up to the service advisor and told him what I thought of him and his SCUMBAG crew.

My wife's A4 convertible top stopped working similar to what is shown here. It would lift an inch or two then stop. Topped off the hydraulic fluid as shown in this video and it's working again. We did have to manually cycle it a couple of times. My uninformed guess is that pumping the rear cover a few times may have been the key - possibly priming the pump so to speak. To address another comment below, the fluid level was really close to the minimum level and there was no visible leaking around the motor. Obviously it could be leaking somewhere else and the fix may be temporary but if you have a malfunctioning top, this $20 solution is worth a try before you spend big $$$'s on a repair. But do be prepared - getting to that motor is a bit tricky.

at a loss what to do with mine. I removed my passenger seat and all interior was removed and replaced inc dash etc (everything down to carpet) and roof worked fine before but now the new interior is in the roof stopped working. any ideas ..?

That's not a fix it's a temporary solution to a leaking hydraulic system.
U can most of them parts on EBay & yeah try resting the top manually the key to the roof is on the driver side dashboard behind the plastic piece

Step by step what did you do to manually recycle the Top to get back on track?
If your fluid was low there has to be a leaky piston/cylinders keep an eye on fluid

Try to reset your roof manually the key to the roof is in the dashboard on the driver side behind that plastic piece more toward the door
You're meant to measure Fluid level with top down
Top up I think-I've looked with top down and was like almost empty :]
