A simple channel ran by a person with low vision, I usually upload here whenever I feel in the mood to do so on whatever topic I may feel like at the time. I'm a hard core gamer, but you won't see any of your tipicle first person shooting microphone screaming bragging about kills here, as much as I enjoy a little fps action here and their.
Isolationism development update. Finally getting the lighting I want while saving resources
I wanted to see if I could get a nice thing going between having the hole area lit global to save system resources, but still retaining the ability for areas to really show when they have no power.
So I added a few more values to rooms that directly control and change global lighting when you enter them.
So now you can even more tell the difference between the docked abandonment which has main power offline and engines not running and the space station it's docked to.
It is a little cheap but it surprisingly works rather well.
The lights over the doors are obviously so I can see where i'm going, otherwise with out them the entire vessel would be pitch black in it's current state.
If I had main power online the ship would look exactly as it did in the previous video.
Assets from zapsplat, freesound, ambientcg, unity asset store and opengameart.
As always, all assets and content is temperary and subject to change at any time.

Another video for amy, showing you the fully completed vehicle movement mecanics in my game
Переглядів 39День тому
I was originally going to wait to make this your usual new years day video but I couldn't wait to show you since I finally finished implementing 2 of the games core mecanics. You know, its funny, when I told you I wanted to be a game developer when we were in the second grade, or as we both called it back then a game maker, I wouldn't have believed it if anyone had told me that I was going to g...
Testing map rotation with space flight isolationism development update

This has been on my todo list for quite a while, having maps face the directions that ships face. With the port to linux complete, I figured i'd finally get around to it, and with me having finally decided on both controls and seemless open world, I figured i'd just apply both to vehicles as well to keep a consistent control skeme. Probably a good thing I did since you can very easily tell whic...
Isolationism development update, finally a native linux version properly running
Переглядів 1914 днів тому
This took me so long because I forgot to check the asset bundle builder script. Turns out I had forgot to change it to build linux native assets. In any event, this is the game running natively on linux, which means I now no longer have any reason what so ever to develop on windows and from this point onwards will only be developing for linux. Assets from freesound, zapsplat, opengameart, unity...
I continued on this and made it more responsive, using the old windows xp voices under linux

Yep, I continued on this, completely rewriting it in the process. Now it's completely useable and very responsive. Unfortunately I had to switch to mate for this because plasma appears to have a bug where the application menu refuses to work with orca as of yesterdays updates, hopefully it'll get fixt soon.
I had way too much time on my hands today. Using the old tts voices from windows xp on linux
Переглядів 13Місяць тому
Because I have way too much time on my hands at the moment and wanted to see if it could be done. It's obviously nowhere near useable given how very obviously sluggish it is plus it pushes the CPU (I threw it together in about 5 minutes) and can only speak the last bit of text sent to it (which is why it skips some things), but essentially it's a sort of hacked together adapter that allows the ...

Yep, since I haven't done one of these guitar practice sessions in quite a while. Which means i'm once again in the middle of my usual monthly sleeping cycle disruption thing. It ...

Thanks. I intend to keep uploading as I make more progress on it. I have to wait until I can acquire another ssd before I get to do the really exciting stuff, since my primary ssd is too small to house everything on my second hard drive and the second drive that's going to house this project has all my stuff on it at the moment.

what have i stumbled upon and why is it so good

I like this video but i hate the Text-To-Speech narrator voice, iirc ms-dos never had a narrator, how were you able to get one onto your ms-dos system. EDIT: just read the channel description and now it makes sense why there is a narrator. Thought it was just left on for no reason or something. Apologies.
It had quite a few, but I whent with this one because it was the only access software that didn't require me installing 2 seperit products for dos and windows3.1. Normally it'd be through a hardware synth but since i'm using an emulator, I had to use one for the speech unit as well. Would love to get myself an actual system though one of these days assuming I can find one, right now i'm looking at obtaining a computer that can run windows 9x (for gaming). Ideally i'd like to at somepoint resume teaching myself large print, the problem is I require the letters to be rather large, plus reading was never my best subject anyways. Only letter I really know is L. The company that made the particular speech product i'm using here supposedly had a large print solution with the same functionality, but they've been out of business since the early 2000s after their founder died so. I'm thinking I might try and write myself a program where I can get the letters in large print one at a time on the screen that way I can memorise what they look like.
Oh, and I checked out your channel. I really like the graphical presentation for the project your working on in your last video, the one with the speedrun timer.
@@dannystandley613 thanks!, it was a small 2d platformer I was making with Godot game engine, I don't have any real idea on where to take the project, so it's mainly just practice. I'd think of a feature i wanted to implement, and tested myself to see if I could code that feature in Godot. Godot is also free and open-source under MIT license!
I've herd of it before. Before I started using unity I just mainly did the games custom and programmed what I needed, i've worked with pure basic, python, a tiny bit of c++ with sfml, the occasional c, and a small amount of visual basic (too small for me to remember anything. Unity was my first real attempt at video game development. Though with their recent choice and their recent aditudes towards developers, i'm thinking i'm gonna go back to what worked before. Keep practicing and exparimenting, you'd be surprised at just how menny projects (of any entertainment kind) result from trying something you want to do.
Here before this video blows up!
It's the first time that I see a dos environment, nice video!

Man I don’t know what happened with Amy, but I hope you’re doing ok and getting through your hardships. Peace
Oh, no, its nothing like that. She's a childhood friend of mine i've known since kindergarten, but we haven't been able to see each other in years. This is the closest I get to keeping in touch with her so.
Another Plywood Brother 🤟 ... Your "Bambi Legs" won't last long, keep it up my man. Welcome to freedom
I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if they do, the skinnyness (if that's what your refering too) isn't a weight or age thing.
@@dannystandley613 lol no, I meant "Bambi Legs" as in your new to the Balance on a Skateboard, like "Bambi on the Ice" lol 👍... around here (Nova Scotia, Canada) we call new Skaters at the park "Bambi's" just to clarify. Anyway, keep practicing my dude. Skate is Life 🤟
Oh lol. Its because I haven't skated in so long. I used to do it all the time as a kid, stopt for various reasons as a teenager, couldn't pick it up until recently because gotta love lower class apartment life. Had to learn how to stand up on it all over again. Hopefully i'll make a lot more progress this time, right now i'm working on turns and ollies.
@@dannystandley613 It's one of the best feelings in the world to land your first Ollie... keep it up bro. Glad your back on the board. Keep the videos comming. Would love to see progress videos. Anyway, appreciate you man. Keep Pushing 🤟

Nothing better than a chill day riding a skateboard, i hope you're having fun out there!
Don’t want to be rude do you have C.P. ? Your killing it!
Do I have what?
Bro what?
I think he ment to ask weather I have cerebral palsy. Which no, I don't, its optic nerve hypoplasia. Generally I don't like to talk about it because i'm only legally blind, not my eyesite is useless blind, i'd rather not be associated with that hole thing so. The only reason I go out of my way to mention it here is because its very obvious so their's no sence in trying to hide it, much as I would love to.
@@dannystandley613 I didn’t mean to be rude .as long as your having fun! You should check out Dan mancena he is a blind skater and very inspiring. Don’t stop shredding!
Uh, not to be rood or anything, but can we please either change the subject or drop the conversation? I would rather not lose what little fanbase and subscriber count this channel has with my experiences and views with blind people, i'm way past that point in my life and i've long since become sick to death of talking about it. Besides, i'm not blind. I'm low vision. Their's a big difference.

That’s awesome man!
Awesome! keep up the good work🔥👏👍💪
The squared off side is the tail. Other than that, good stuff. Keep your arms up that helps you with balance
How do you turn the board like that??
I think it was a kick turn I used, can't exactly remember at the moment. Its not a technique you want to use when your at high speed and normally I wouldn't, but its a crampt space that doesn't allow much room to practice turns. Which is also why I didn't try any tricks.
Their is another technique that I use, I don't know if their's a name for it and I can't remember if I used it in this video or not, but if that's the technique your refering to. It simply involves pushing with your foot down on the deck in the intended direction so that the deck leans in the intended direction you want to turn. It may not work for you though if you have one of those boards where the titeness of the bearings can't be adjusted with your tipicle allon rench, it all depends on the gear your using. I have mine adjusted rather loosly because I put speed, controlability and maneuverability over the safety of my rides, not something i'd advise you to do unless you know what your doing.
Good job. I see you’re enjoying yourself. If I may, after you kick off the ground, turn your feet perpendicular to the board covering up the bolts for optimal balance. Have fun
That's what I did initially once I started skating in a serious capacity again, I found I could maintain my balance a lot better by doing it my current way. My motor skills are unfortunately somewhat fucked up, probably from my optic nerve hypoplasia so usually I have to find different ways of doing shit like that.
Good work Danny! I like that balance
Gave you a subscribe now you have 15😁
Keep it you bro🔥🔥💪
Is Danny the new Tony Hawk ⁉️
No, not even close lol.
Hell yeah Danny keep it up buddy
Skating with the wind! That must have been a nice ride.
Sort of. It did have a frustrating tendency to get in the way at times when trying to line up.
@@dannystandley613 congratulations on the new board though. Always awesome to break in a new board.
Fuck yeah it is. I had another deck I baught from zumiez but it didn't go nearly as fast and wasn't as maneuverable so I gave it away, so this is my main deck. Eventually I hope to do a custom deck (design included). Its been something i've wanted to do ever since third grade.
Hey, Danny! I'm a big enjoyer of the stuff that you put out here and I hope you are doing well! i had a question but i may wait to ask it for now, just know that everything youve done is so incredible to me and i am inspired by you!
Hey, sorry for taking so long. What's your question?
@@dannystandley613 i was wondering if youd be okay with me sampling some of your music in my own sometime! Its Totally okay if you dont want me to, i will never do so without your permission. And i hope youre well enough!
I'd prefer it if you didn't, I have a few songs like 12 years and reunion that I feel personally would be completely ruined if they were used in any other context. 12 years in particular given that its for and about my late great best friend.
@@dannystandley613 say no more! I greatly appreciate you hearing me out! Keep up the good work!!!
Actually, was it this one you were hoping to sample? Just to clairify, morally i'm okay with sampling, especially because wrap rock is among one of my favorites. I'll be okay with you sampling my music as long as its not 12 years or reunion, or any cover of someone elses song (for obvious reasons). Credit would be highly appreciated. Might I suggest though that if its this one you intend to sample, one of the earlier versions with out the extra instrumental work, probably the one with just the drum beat and the guitar would probably suit your needs a bit better. I keep all the instrumental tracks I record (unless I deem them to be bad), so if you or anyone else who is looking to sample and is interested in a specific part, i'll be happy to upload it. As long as the requests are not too much and as long as you don't mind waiting a bit.

Great visuals... Btw, nice song. Felt it calming...
This OST sounds like something you would hear in the finale of the series.
Of what series?
@@dannystandley613 Idk 🙃 If you imagine any kind of series and it's finale, this OST could be very good for it!
I think it might be a bit too slow for the finale, feels like it might be more suited to end credits if your talking action oriented. Something with a particularly dramatic and shocking ending or something like that. You know, like the mist sort of ending only way more action oriented. The film not the aweful tv show that is. Its funny you should mention it though because I didn't think of it being used in any series, though the general theme of ending was what I had in mind when I composed it originally. Thanks though, that's given me a bit of an idea to focus on to finish writing lyrics for it.
@@dannystandley613 Good job I guess 👍
Sounds nice!
Hmmm, thought my speakers were malfunctioning..the hissing sound was a bit annoying. Otherwise, it was nice. 😉
Yeah, I think that might have been the newly added guitar part mixt with the older guitar I recorded originally. The problem is when I recorded the song originally, I only had an audio interface to pipe my guitar through and had to do 2 different baselines using my keyboard. And the thing with the particular audio interface I have is its great for keyboard work, but on guitar it had this very annoying thing of fuzzing out and cleaning up the sound when distortion became a factor. Which I absolutely lothed because metal and punk are the 2 types of music I like the most. Asides from pink floyd which is my all time favorite. Guess that's digital for you though. I'm one of those old fassion types that vastly prefers annalog, you know, vinyl and cassettes and the like. Or physical music in general. Seems to be a huge contrast for me when compared to most people my age. Unfortunately their's not too much I can do about it short of rerecording the entire thing all over again. Which I might just end up doing, depends on weather I like the result or not.
Nice one 😊
Was watching dance Gavin dance videos and popped up in my recommended? Lol
I'm 67, I guess I'm NOT dead yet lol. Awesome sound kiddo!
Idk why this came up on my recommendation but I dig it
