REBEL GIRL: My review of baddie queen Kathleen Hanna’s new memoir 🍒💪🏻
Переглядів 976 місяців тому
Oooooh this was such a great memoir on creativity, trauma, healing, the problematic nature of white feminism, and the deconstruction of the grunge era. Hanna is an icon and she deserves nothing but respect for her badass innovation in the musical world. Lead singer of Bikini Kill, Hanna was light years ahead of mainstream pop culture/calling out blatant sexism and misogyny in the punk world. Bl...

My Thoughts on Funny Story By Emily Henry

Hey y’all. Back with my second vid with a review on Emily Henry’s newest book, Funny Story, out April 23rd. Special thanks to Berkley Publishing for a free advanced copy of this book. Do you plan on picking this one up?! Hear my thoughts on this one which is a love letter to grief, joy, libraries, and community. I cried my eyes out lol.
I love your voice 😊
I just finished reading Wolf at the Table and have very similar feelings as you . I could not put this book down. It was so eerie the way Myra encountered the various serial killers in her life. I thought the beginning was genius and I had this feeling of dread while reading about Myra & her encounter with the handsome blond. Loved this book and also can't stop thinking about it. I am giving side eyes to all unusual men I encounter. LOL. I just discovered your book review tube & am looking forward to listening to your backlist book reviews.
@@BarbaraVitanza you nailed the effect this book evokes! I’m so glad you enjoyed. Yay! I’ll be happy to keep doing backlist reviews if wonderful viewers like you enjoy it 🥰🥰
Aww this is one of the books I really want to read! But I have to wait for it to be translated in Korean 😂 thanks for your review though!
@@Chaewonders awwww thanks for watching! Hope it gets translated soon too ❤️❤️❤️❤️
it was a snoozefest after the first chapter
I love this approach to reviews. The "if you like ____ then you'll like this." It's helpful. Play It As It Lays has been on my tbr for ages now but have yet to get to it. I've added a few others now based on these recommendations Thank you!
@@amyb3737 I’m so glad it’s helpful!!! It was very hard to distill it down but makes me so happy it worked for you ❤️❤️❤️
I read this in June and I'm so happy I found someone else who's talking about it! Thank you for sharing your thoughts!!
@@SamSaysWrite I’m so glad you loved it too! Thanks for sharing ❤️❤️❤️
Can’t waaaaaaaaaaait❤🎉😊
I've just finished this book today, and omg. The cry I cried - what you said about her way of depicting human relationships and addiction and mental health. I could not get enough of the book. I LOVED it.
Awww I am right there with you. Coco always hits me where it hurts. Thank you so much for commenting and sharing ❤❤❤❤❤
This is my favorite out of the 3 from Carley Fortune, I just finished it today. I agree it was warm and cozy!
Totally agree with you on everything except the so called miscommunication "trope." I feel line this one was done really well. It made sense for the characters to act like that. She set the stage for it, you know. And out of all the tropes, this one is the best for me because, as someone who has had a few relationships ruined by lack of communication, I think it's totally realistic. Idk. Thoughts? On another note, the one thing I didn't like about this book was the characters' ages. I feel like they behaved more like mid to late 20s than mid 30s. It made me cringe every time I remembered their age compared to how they were behaving in general. But maybe that's just my late 30s bitter self.
The age thing is my one problem with the characters too. Otherwise I really love this book and the characters.
I really loved this one! The whole read-a-thon was fun element to the story.
My fave Emily Henry! So glad you loved it… and read-a-thons are soooo wonderful!
Your have to read Funny Story by Emily Henry!
Yes! I have a review on it! Loved.

Hope you enjoy it! And thanks for commenting🥹 so happy to have you here ❤️🥰
Great review! It’s one of my favorite EmHen books. I absolutely related to Daphne’s love of the library, and I was that kid who has her mom pick her up from the public library after school. I also struggled with family caring about public image and understood Miles 🥹
Same! Public libraries are the best :) So happy you loved it and thank you for commenting!!🥰
I just finished this book and really enjoyed it. Felt the relationship was not as silly and fluffy as previous Emily Henry books. Loved the library setting too!
I totally agree! She killed it on this one ❤️
What are the ages of the male/female leads? Thats a determining factor for me.
Hi! I think mid to late twenties?
@@molly___reads thank you!
d f0 After all, who knows what you might become thanks to new acquaintances? 9v
Hello!! I just finished this book today haha. Daphne is 33 and Miles is 36.
Thank u for the video! I’m currently searching my next read. Saludos desde Mexico City ❤
Thank you so much! Life has been nuts but I’m hoping to upload soon. ❤️🫶🏼❤️appreciate you
I used to read more romance books, but I started to feel like they were all getting too repetitive and nonsense, and I gave up on them for some time, until Emily Henry happened and literally resurrected the genre for me. However, she also set the bar too high, and sort of ruined all the other romance authors for me… 😂. I really liked Carley Fortune’s first book, tho. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about the second, which I thought was just meh. And I’m glad that you enjoyed the next one and managed to make me add it to my TBR. Other romance that I did read last year and kind of enjoyed, but not so much, was “The Seven Year Slip” by Ashley Poston. It has a time travel element that’s interesting. But, truth is, I’ve been very selective regarding romances nowadays.
Yep, I 1000 percent agree. It’s such a hit or miss genre for me!
This is her best book, it was PERFECTION. Loved this video and seeing your face on booktube!
It's so good! Thank you, friend 🥰
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I can’t wait to read this one.
