These video captures are from a collection of Super 8 movie reels from the Buffington and Ortiz families taken between 1970 - 1977. The reels are in no specific order and the dates cannot be verified. I recorded them in our garage with an iPhone 12 Pro Max. The audio is the sound of the projector. While viewing a few of the reels I cried like Chevy Chase in Nat'l Lampoon"s Christmas Vacation.

Great band !
One original member...hurts my soul.
What happened to Donnie Van Zant?
That’s pretty bloody good. It’s a real live performance and the camera is catching the sound off centre which means the bottom end sounds pitchy ( it’s not). Great band
80s kids can still relate. Great memories of home. Parents were huge music fans, could pass as hippies. Beautiful time to be alive during this era. Impressed by the dedication to their fans.
It is thinking whether it feels like eating a whole human today. They are the vicious carnivores of the insect world. They even eat fish when they are underwater in the larva stage.
I LOVE THIS SONG💝
Real band, real music. Think the hate on them due to 2 things; Their name - commies hate guns in the hands of citizens Their are Southern
Love these guys, where’s Donny and Jeff . Donny should be here.
But, If the goal is not letting go, shouldn't we hang on MORE tightly? It's tantamount to saying hey do this but don't do this. You would have to define your probabilistic risk, because if you are encouraging the departure from the "hanging-on" itself -- to certain degrees of thin margin -- then it also implies that you aren't concerned that your milquetoast grip might let loose of something you have undervalued. Top-notch on vinyl. You could have used them as a reference mix back in the day I'd imagine if you weren't already listing to Huey Lewis (yeah yeah and The News).
people put down the funking phones and enjoy the show, you're not Scorcese, you're just obnoxious
"Excellent '', Bands today need toilet paper to scriblle on and make gold. Frig em. 70's ruled it and 80s
I saw them Twice years ago, and they don't sound bad after all this time ( Especially D.B.), wouldn't hesitate to go see them again.🆗👍
Saw them around 4 times in the early to mid 80's. They were first opening act for Jefferson Starship 81-82 Then were the headlining act w/Huey Lewis & The News and Bon Jovi as backing bands on separate tours. Killer shows!
They use to jam at LaVela in PCB, Fl back in the 90’s. I’ve seen them on more than one occasion. Great band!
I dig 38 special.
I don’t know ? But my X and I saw them in Laughlin, Nevada about 7 years ago and they were really good 👍🏻 ! Now like I think that one guy said he sounds like a 80 year old man ! He sounds awful at all the venues !!!
To all y'all in the crowd obsessed with filming: you're missin it. Put the device down, cut loose and groove, baby!
Just saw these guys this past Friday, in Flint MI, what a great show.
Too few of these great bands still around. Rock on!
We use to cover this song back in Reno in a band I was in, those were good times.
Actually, that was exceptional. I started playing hair guitar in 1985 when I was 15. I was a huge .38 Special fan. They had some killer songs. Top notch rockers.
Awesome! 😮🎉❤
The people saying there is something terrible about this are loopy. That’s a killer live band without tracks (that I can hear) and a 72 year old that’s probably been singing for 2 hours and still sounds very respectable. Also obviously a phone recording of a house PA setup. You wanna hear bad? Go listen to Bon Jovi, Vince Neil or Axle Rose live as of late. Custom touring setups, backing tracks, songs tuned down 1-2 steps and still sound like crap.
38 Special came to Michigan in about 1994 with Sawyer Brown. That was a kick butt show! ❤
👍👍🎧🎧🙏🙏💖💖🎶🎶🎵🎵💯💯😎😎📷📷still here lisenting this song 80s teenage days great time to be alive good memories bring nostalgia watching this video classic 38special a lot fun carefree miss forever good old days 👍👍🎧🎧🙏🙏💖💖🎶🎶🎵🎵💯💯😎😎📷📷
Dont you know it!
PLEASE, FORGIVE, I LUV 38 SPECIAL ❣️
ARE THERE ANY ORIGINAL MEMBERS ??
Yes, Don Barnes
OVER THE TOP!!!!!!!!!!!FROM PUERTO RICO!!!!!!!!!!
Let it go!! You're soiling your legacy.
that is really good dude 😎👍
Thanks! 😁
What a sweet video! Nicely done
You are so kind
Great playing, gorgeous instrument, and most of all what a sweet horse
Thank you kindly!
A dark serenade for that ass!
For some reason I thought that was donkey
Awesome! the horse's ears move with the note changes! And clearly listening...
LOVE THIS BAND, cheers from Mexico
It'll never be .38 Special without Don Barnes. He was the band.
Um, that IS Don….
Timeless ❤
ua-cam.com/video/x79vbofyaV8/v-deo.htmlsi=u93EMO7NAnQi838z Saw Them In 2016. Great.
Holy cow they sound terrible
I suppose you sound better? The recording is in mono. Brighten up.
my favorite band/rock on still sound the same!!!😄😊🙂🎸
Okay...voices have become hoarse - haven't we all? I still play the original video of this song all the time.
saw them 1981 in Germany Lorely and I am glad to see, that they even rock the stages, Christiane Germany
Sounds fine but is it me or is it a tad slower?
Slower than the original ‘live’ MTV video we all remember. It’s about right on with the studio album version though…likely using a click track for the tempo which they probably didn’t do live in the good old days.
I love this song
Jerry Riggs is great on the guitar
Jerry Riggs is with 38 Special now?!? I had no idea. Wasnt he with Pat Travers for awhile? And I think he did a song on the movie Heavy Metal.
Glad the music is still going..but its a little too country.. 38 special could rock back in the day
Miss Jeff Carlisi on lead guitar just not the same
And no Donnie Van Zandt to sing Wild Eyed Southern Boys
Just Don is original, Larry junstrom passed, rest all went separate ways
Sounds good. Are there any original members left?
Just Don Barnes lead vocalist & lead guitar
