DPF Training Video
Переглядів 2,3 тис.9 років тому
Take a look at BM Catalyst's Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) training video that tells you everything you need to know about servicing a DPF. A DPF is designed to remove soot from the exhaust gasses, and therefore reduce particulate emissions by 85% or more, ensuring that minimal visible smoke is emitted from the vehicle. In order to meet euro emissions standards, vehicle manufacturers fit DPFs...

👍
I don’t really care for these things because they make cars quiet and rob power… But after seeing what toxic gases are filtered from it I almost wana put the catyl back on…😅
Dose this apply to vw ;)
So do private jets have a cat because I’m pretty sure they also dump fuel
2023 kia shortage , has 2 cats …9k to replace ….warranty didn’t cover
I am your 1000th subscriber
Cats have saved millions of lives around the world. Thank God we have them.
I just put a turbo on my Jeep. I didn't think the cat is gonna last very long. 😂
I am form India 🇮🇳
We don't care
Quality at the top
What are catalytic converters ????What is new oil tech and will it minimize chemicals in oil and relieve the stress on catalyic converts????
What will new oil tech bring to the oil sector????? Invitation, jobs, and a safe environment.....
Catalytic converters were required on cars in North America in about 1972..
Why do people even want to steal this
It work by reducing the life of your vehicles engine from restricting the flow of gases escaping. This will cost you more in the long run.
Very good explanation but why do we have to have noise in the background, how can we learn with noise in the background.
Fuk i it I was worry it was finna fuck my truck up
Only looked it up cause the Crack heads are wild now days
i cut mine off
What are the required conditions for active regeneration to occur, is there certain driving perimeters that must be met in order for the vehicle to complete an active regeneration cycle? Thanks.
For my Ford truck the parameters that must be met and maintained consist of sufficient exhaust gas temperature (the engine has been driven long enough to produce hot enough EGTs), and maintaining a constant speed of 50 mph or greater until the regeneration has been completed. Active regens on my truck usually take about 20 mins to fully complete.
@@LargeNinCharge I'm guessing then that there's little real difference between passive and active regeneration requirements in terms of how it affects the DPF? My understanding is that active regeneration only differs in that the ECU contributes to the EGT by dosing the exhaust with fuel by injecting fuel during the exhaust stroke, either that or utilising a vaporiser/injector that is fitted directly to the exhaust in the case of some fords etc. My query I suppose is really what's the difference in time needed to complete either cycle. I was presuming that the active regeneration would be initiated and completed more quickly than the passive? After all, an active regeneration is only called for if driving conditions have not been met in order for passive regeneration to occur? Many thanks for your help.
Why won’t they just put the parts in a catalyst converter inside the muffler and just have a huge muffler
Many reasons, most logic would be because cats are expensive and mufflers are cheap and swappable pretty easily, imagine having to pay for a new cat everytime you bought a muffler lol
@@SLAPDOORSf that imagine borla exhaust prices. 2-3k a muffler easy.
in a large period is a headache the best thing a downpipe up to the motor, this new sheets including the EGR in a large period of time start to fail, and you think that is the motor but its a computer automatic response when they start to fail.
Wow, I always thought they were called Cadillac converters!
i dont have one :))))))
Fun fact: While you were distracted watching this video, I have stolen your Catalytic Converter
But it was yours to begin with!
good luck I have a straight pipe 😂😂
I'm so glad none of my vehicles have this garbage on them
Just leave the cat the fuck alone, it does its job
It also serves an alternate function: It works as a source of income for anyone with a hacksaw
And your mechanic also makes money. That's 2 people employed. Cats save the environment and the economy!!
😂😂😂
This explained nothing
I am not a chemist neither an engineer, I am a technician ( Grease monkey)and I work on cars for many years, what I’ve seen over the years (some cases)broken cats from inside making rattle noises, melted ones from overheating due to engine misfiring pushing raw fuel through the exhaust along with all other emissions that burned in the catalyst, some cases head gasket or intake plenum gasket failure caused internal antifreeze (cooling system)leak into exhaust system through valve’s then trapped inside catalyst
the best is to cut it out with a grinder and weld in a piece of pipe
Miau
can't have shit in Detroit
You take your whole exhaust off. Then wait.. get this… one solid pipe from the turbo back….
Hell yeah
90% of my cats end up laying on the ground of an exhaust shop.
Even on the daily???
@@Fred_the_1996ESPECIALLY the daily
I think that‘s illegal.
Watching this video i didnt realize i didnt have a catalytic converter and how important it is but now after watching, after 7 years i will invest into one
Less hp soooo it has to go sorry not sorry world
It doesn't work if it's in place. The greatest automotive FRAUD ever perpetrated on the public by the US Government-the catalytic "converter". What does it "convert"??? It's SUPPOSED to convert HARMFUL nitrous oxides in exhaust gases to "harmless" NITRIC oxides, but as a retired chemist (from an oil company) the OPPOSITE is true! Thunder storms (lighting) create billions of TONS of NITROUS oxides which dissolve in rain and fertilize the plants on Earth. NITRIC oxides form nitric acid or acid rain which KILLS plants (except some evergreens) and ruins paint and roofs. I asked an EPA "chemist" to prove me wrong in 1974-they couldn't. Cat-cons also emit sulfuric acid in NORMAL operation and damage exhaust valves on your engine, shortening engine life.
These rare metals are mainly found in South Africa and are very expensive
No I took drilll bits and just went right through them
Catalytic converters have been used since the later half of the 1970s.
How to clean it? And when we must clean it?
u clean it by driving, just need to get it up to temperatur, its mentioned in the video at the end. other than that you dont need to do anything yourself
Cut the cat off on my 1.9 TDI. Now it smokes funny and drives better.
i love it
The catalytic converter work by blocking the horsepower
yeah by like 0.5%
@@AhrkFinTey By a bit more than that, but since most vehicles are set up for a certain setup, like having a kat in them, it will probably make you lose hp/torque if you remove it without remapping the ecu. On bikes for example it can really screw with the engine and make it run much much fatter. However removing it then remapping can give up to 5-10% HP gain.
@@alexwithanxmodern cats flow incredibly well, and this isn’t really true anymore. Way back in the day catalytic converters hurt performance a lot more than they do now. There is really very little reason to not run a cat on a car now, unless you are doing proper race car things (like running high zinc content oil, anti-lag/2 step all the time, etc. all of which you really won’t be doing with a street car)
The you get a high flow sport cat..
That thing is damn expensive
blame palladium and platinum for that
