I needed some small, light piano hinges for my 1/4 scale Fairchild 24. I couldn't find any so I tried making my own. This technique can be adapted to many different scales and materials.

Silver brazing stainless steel for RC landing gear
Переглядів 1132 роки тому
A quick and poorly done tutorial showing how to silver braze stainless steel, including some fillet brazing. Most brazing videos that I could find were either using bronze or silver brazing for jewlery. I'm using Harris Safety-silv 45 and Stay-silv black flux, I start with a Dremel torch and also show oxy-acetylene. This is part of the landing gear build for my 1/4 scale Fairchild 24 but the te...
Hacker Cosmic Wind Ballerina with OS FT240 4 stroke twin
Переглядів 4563 роки тому
Second flight of my Hacker Ballerina 1/3rd scale pylon racer powered by the OS FT240 shown in my overhaul video. The engine is running with straight pipes, no muffler so no pressure to the tank. I hadn't cut the cowling yet and it was easier for the first flights to have access to the engine.

Cutting out the letters and sewing up a banner to pull behind my Hangar 9 Pawnee 40. The banner is 14" wide, 31' long, and weighs 8ozs. The plane has an OS 70fs and pulls it around quite well at half throttle.

3d tail touch in lake with close calls

3d tail touch in lake with close calls
excellent Ben, I knew the theory but had never tried it. This certainly has given me the confidence to have a go
It's not as hard as it would seem. Although having a box joint jig lying around certainly helps.
fell around laughing on this, my sort of humour! But great idea. lots of tow/es in this video. Cant believe resin seems to fill the tube with no voids?
I'm glad you like the humour. I think pre-filling the tube along with thoroughly wetting out the fibers really ensures there's no bubbles.
Really enjoyed this Ben, You make it look easy, the key to this sort of stuff is using the right materials and a hot enough flame
Thanks! Really, with a bit of practice it's not hard. The flame is important, I like the pinpoint flame of the oxy-acetylene but it is VERY hot. Oxy-mapp would probably be an even better option.
This is a great tutorial, thanks for posting ..... I always wondered how this was done !
Excellent! thanks for sharing Ben.
I love the video! what were the materials used? I am thinking to one myself and this info could be useful!
Thanks! The main part is nylon mesh fabric, the letters are thin ripstop nylon. It has carbon fiber battens every 4’ and there is braided fishing line sewn into the top and bottom. Some small weights in the bottom of the first 2 battens keep the banner flying upright.
FHA is for sharing this! I’m trying to make my own 1/4 scale cub gear.
You're welcome. It's not a hard technique to learn but it does take a bit of practice.
Love it!
With wings swept in, do the ailerons work, does the plain turn.
Yes, the ailerons still work. With the wings swept in they function as both ailerons and elevators.
'PromoSM'
I've seen this man's handiwork in person. Awesome.
Looks great Ben, I am glad it worked out so well for you.
Thanks Thayer!
Ben this turned out amazing. Great work!!
Nice Job...
Thanks Jeff!
what material did you use?
The main part is nylon mesh fabric, the letters are thin ripstop nylon. It has carbon fiber battens every 4’ and there is braided fishing line sewn into the top and bottom. The lines are what actually pull it through the air, they are tied to each batten. It’s 14” tall and 32’ long, weighs about 8ozs (with weights on the bottom), and is easily pulled with a Pawnee 40 and a 70fs.
That was cool
This radiak engine was made from plans by Ageless Engines
You are the only one who rebuild this engine and runs better than new one. Bullshit talking.
You can take all OS engines apart en maintain them, but not the Wankel engine. In the factory they put the body together under pressure. You can't do that your self. It will run, but never as good as a new one that is assembled in the factory.
Hugo van leeuwen That may be true however it will certainly run better now than before.
wana sell it?
Currently on eBay, auction ends tomorrow. rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F223543295645
Wet tail! Nice job!
Twin engine slimer, excellent.
close calls indeed
Heck
If you are interested in building go their web site. They actually recomend that you build the 9 cylinder version as it is actually easier than a 7 cylinder. Plus the fixturing required for common parts work for the 7,9,14 and 18 cylinder versions. They are also developing a 14 cylinder sleeve valve radial
You have to buy one from someone who has made one, it is not a production engine.
Hello, Lindo, where I buy one?
That truck will never fly...
Hello, beautiful model, congratulations, at what altitude do you fly? I mean your city altitude above sea level, or tell me your city´s name. Best wishes.
mine is in cant wait to start building!!
lovely take off and landing i hope to have one of thoughs sometime soon
I have one of these and it did the same thing on the first flight, It crashed to the left and both engines were running.
Nice. Did you get it to fly on a larger lake?
yea, your right. It would be the only reseaon. so i geuss it wasn't a maiden. Hope she will fly again soon.
howed you know it was an engine out, i couldn't tell?
