I want Armored core to bring in VD style multiplayer with harder to master gameplay. Bring back tons of content from other AC games. Heavy mechs should feel like 5th gen, mediums like 3rd Gen and light mechs feel more like 4th would be really amazing to feel the gameplay of these older games blend together. Oversized weapons and UNACS, Arms forts and more part slots like from the older Gens would be awesome.

AC was and is a great game. The lesson to be learned here is to have more game play diversity such as adding game play speed such as the game play of For Answers. From Software did a great job and managed to revive the genre. We need more of these games and of course DLCs testing new grounds with diversity.

Dude really? The competitive scene specifically does NOT use auto lock. You lose accuracy while auto locked and the best players use manual aim to pull off some absolutely crazy shit. At first I thought ok he’s just an old fan who doesn’t like changes, but when you started on the pvp rant that’s when I knew you haven’t looked into the pvp scene at all. You lost because you didn’t use auto lock? Literally every single match I have ever lost was BECAUSE I used auto lock.

Stagger was ok to me cause certain damage types mitigated most bleed through. Kinetic being less effective made sense. I only had the simple gripe of removing sniper cannons for mixed bag long range shoulder options, and no more multiplayer past 1v1.

Personally I think the game was actually legit challenging. Though I hated how the end bosses (1 and 3) kept zipping about and took AGES and it's not about "git good". I am a literally gaming GOD. Ayre and allmind are not invincible. I loved the targeting is just a normal hud than some square you had to keep your opponent in.

Much of the deeper combat mechanics and satisfying gameplay flow is wasted on a limited replay value, while yes a strong focus is placed on running through the game at least three times- that is still a waste in my view. The AC design aspect and the way that they have placed many stats on a gradient of thousands of different kinds of AC's that you could build that could theoretically work for different missions and just how fun it is to boost around with different ideas just constantly creates this nagging need for an endless mode, designed to be played endlessly. What would that look like? Maybe an open world rogue-lite concept with limited lives or an iron man mode, maybe that would be a custom arena where you could have teams of AC's that you build face off against each other alongside the player. Maybe you introduce a build randomizer or AI builder that creates different arena scenarios for you to play through, with different unique designs every time. I can think of a lot of great ideas to introduce replay value. The AC test mode needs to be fleshed out more and fined tuned to help the player quickly experiment with different builds, more control needs to be given to control the threats faced and you really should have some way to test different builds against each other. Even if you took some ideas from Elden rings open world concept, that wouldn't necessarily be such a bad thing. Another thing I noticed about the older games is the high speed gameplay, the gameplay a lot your friends here are asking for seems to look pretty identical, with little to no variation in build types- or if there is a variation- it certainly doesn't look like the combat mechanics feel it. A lot of emphasis is placed on the fact that preventing damage was a focus of previous games, that is a strategic gameplay type. That's not bad and it should be an option in AC6, IMO however it really seems like what your asking for would boil down to recreating the meta of older games which you've all grown to enjoy. But I have to point out, you all prefer it because you are all a certain type of gamer who enjoys that style of combat. AC6 is one of the most popular in the series because it focuses more on how the gameplay looks and feels and how much weight there is to movement as opposed to just having full size gundam's zipping around and flying around as if physics didn't apply to them. While it is true that this is also the case in AC6 in some situations, for the most part- having little control over boosting is more realistic from a physics perspective. Not being able to control every little ounce of movement while quick boosting or assault boosting is more realistic. G force is represented to a small degree at least, which I actually enjoy because it feels more meaningful and weighty. I have played some of the earlier titles and I realized that part of the reason why the gameplay did not feel satisfying was because it felt more so like I was piloting a UFO as opposed to large bipedal mech. I enjoy the physics in AC6, because it does feel to me like a balance has been struck to create a satisfying combo between speed and weight. I could see being very irritated by this massive change in feeling and flow and coming to the conclusion that it is the dumbed down way of piloting and AC and in some ways it is- but I would argue its more realistic. Fighting at hyper speed with AC's that look and feel as weightless as a cardboard box leaves little room for satisfying action. However, it leaves a lot of room for fine tuned control and developing high level skills in the finer techniques of piloting AC's. The unfortunate fact of this change is that newer players will enjoy the representation of some vague real world physics and older players will want to be able to transfer their motor skills that they developed in older games into new games- part of the reason why the play AC games in the first place. I want to apologize to those players, I know exactly how you feel as it has happened to me in other games and it really did feel like my skills were made to be useless and that is an awful feeling to have thrust upon you by developers. I am very sorry about that, but I am not sorry about enjoying the weight and feeling of gameplay in AC6. It feels way better to me to have some weight in my movements. That is really because I haven't played the old games as much as I have played AC6, for this same reason.

14:03 I'm sure someone else has already mentioned it, but soft lock is actually superior in lock on and zeroing time as long as you keep the opponent on the middle of your screen. This has been tested and showcased on several in-depth tutorial videos on the subject on UA-cam. The reason why hard lock feels better is because you don't have to take extra processing power away from your brain to keep the camera under control and your enemy in the middle of screen. It frees up bandwidth for you to focus on dodging, planning and reacting to enemy decisions. You probably saw a higher win rate because of that, lock on time and your AC actually zeroing on targets is actually faster with soft lock.

Yeah, AC6 felt a bit too easy in single player Ibis was the only skill check and it was just the issue of me believing online advice instead of playing the way I am comfortable with. Low range and fast turning was a disappointment. I wanted to get into mechs, so I wanted to play a sonic speed tank. You rarely feel like a tank, tbh. Especially tank threads were a disappointment Movement sucked, imo. I felt like I was playing Ultrakill with how responsive the mech was. I really expected to have to deal with momentum of a gigaton machine Maybe it was nerfed, but hard lock reduces accuracy by half, I'm pretty sure

As someone who enjoys the Gundam maxiboost series and watches tournaments that happen in those games I really don’t understand too much how hardlock kills skill completely though compared to other ac games it is much easier to get into due to not having to worry about the camera I still think there can be skill expression through the way you shoot or move like in tthe maxiboost series games but I most definitely agree and think that hardlock with the limited actions we are allowed for movement like not even being able to shoot while quick boosting it makes it feel unga boonga the higher you go up in weight threshold with how stagger and the heavier guns interact with it but overall good vid with valid critiques and information from past games 🤙🏾

7 months have passed since this review, and i believe that this game is aging like wine. the last update has breathed life into the embers of the dying PVP that was on life support. the game has virtually no bugs and is incredibly well optimized. now that the story has been picked through, it's incredibly emotional and has rich characters; the best story and characters that FromSoft have written in the modern era imo. the game is, in my opinion, the most cohesive and fully realized game From have released, even thematically and aesthetically. bonus: it's just a ton of fun. i think time will continue to look fondly at AC6, and i'm excited for the future of AC.

Honestly I think hard lock was a good decision, but other factors lead to it removing a lot of skill, most pertinent being no turn speed, meaning lightweights gain no benefit from speed other than exiting engagements. If weight based turn speed was implemented, and hard lock broke when your target exited your screen, it'd be a perfect function.

I guess I’m one of the new gen fans that took the leap into this series. I remember hearing about this franchise years ago but never payed attention to it. For this I decided to take a leap because I wanted to try it and I absolutely loved it. Only thing I wanted is basically more. More missions with more enemies to fight, more boss fights or hell let’s get a boss gauntlet.

  • @TheEveryDayC

After reading a lot of the comments, I don't really feel the need to watch through the video. It seems pretty clear that you accept the game for what it does right, but also aren't going to shy away from where it went wrong and where it's differences from older gen titles wind up hurting the gameplay. I'm not somebody who engages with the PVP side of things, and I think the PVE aspects generally land a lot more than they miss. I think that as a first iteration and entry with the newer gameplay style, it works extremely well, but I think I'd really like to see the game move a bit further away from it's mechanical influences and closer to some of the older generation stuff, just to make it at least feel a bit more unique and capable of standing on it's own without comparisons to sekiro. I played AC2 as a really young kid, and the fact that this managed to make me feel the same way I felt when playing AC2 (not from nostalgia, but purely in terms of setting and tone) despite how drastically different it is in gameplay really shocked me and I think is awesome. I do look forward to seeing where the series goes, and I really hope for the best in the future. I would kind of love to see how a modernized remake of some of the older gen games would look like, but I also think that'd be a really hard line to walk without pissing off a lot of people lol.

On the turn speed, It always bothered me how slow it was in the older generation AC games since I my father is a college-level biology teacher, and so I was always aware that the primary benefit of biped legs is positioning and turning in place at the cost of distance speed. Why couldn't my older biped mechs side-step or about-face?

A lot of people are talking about the game's balance like it's just a PVP problem, but the campaign is not unaffected. The problems that hurt multiplayer build variety hurt singleplayer replayability too. Trying to fight outside of close range doesn't work in AC VI at all and the ACs feel too similar with their walking and turning speeds being fixed and with assault boost being the same for all thrusters and hard lock being nearly the same for all FCS and arm combinations.

The campaign used to be harder that's what crazy but they nerfed like 7 bosses throughout patches.

This is what I'd want in a new AC game and I been saying it for years. 1. Space Combat 2. Transforming AC's (yea I want to turn into a jet and fly around) or having the ability to control an MT 3. I want to walk around my mech like in Demon Ex Machina. I want to feel less like I am a giant robot and more like I am the one piloting the robot. 4. Make it so funnel weapons run on energy and don't run out of ammo based unless they have actual ammo. I have an idea for a game scenario. It be set long after humans colonized space and come across aliens. The main factions would be a Royal Empire and a Federation of Corporations. You'd make your character. You'd play someone trying to get away during an attack on your space colony by the Federation ,(the colony broke some treaty but it was an excuse to raid the colony)You would be hurt during the attack and left mute. You'd become friends with another survivor and a lot of the heavy angsty stuff would revolve around him. As you try and escape you come across some derlict AC's and get in them to try and escape. You end up confronting an Merc AC pilot and manage to fend him off. The leader of the merc group sees this and convinces you to join up with him (there's a vailed threat that he'll shoot you and your friend down). I see the merc leader as a Jack-O figure. He takes you and your friend back to their ship which will be the hub where you can buy parts and interact with the crew. One person is odily a young girl who seemed to have survived the chaos like you. The second mission would be about clearing the space port, with the third mission introducing space combat as you, your friend, and the merc leader go out to move mines the Federation placed as a blockade. As you remove the mines you come across a red AC piloted by a female aligned to the Federation. She doesn't like that the merc group is leaving before their job is done. It seems their orders were to find "The Princess." Jack-O feigns ignorance but Red doesn't buy it, saying "Your trying to double deal again. I told them haring a back stabber like you was a bad idea!" Red and Jack-O fight while you clear the mines. If your good enough you can try and fight her off with Jack-O who praices you. You clear the mines and then lightspeed (or use a Rubiconian drive to get out of there). You would then be able to select different planets and each planet would have different parts to buy. There would be branching paths and more stories.

I’ve played/owned all the Armored Core games since the first one on the PS1. The look of the game continues to improve and feel sharper, cleaner, more vibrant. I think the idea of PvP is okay, I guess, but I prefer in-game bosses and AI exclusively. I played PvP with someone else (on the same console) and that was okay, but… remember AC Arena? That was challenging! The “hard lock” is nice, but distracting when there are too many enemies on the screen. I don’t know if forcing players to manage their reticle would make the game better, but it would definitely make it more “classic” Armored Core. I am disappointed in the lack of extensions, weapon arms, and genuinely tough armor. Heavy armor should act more like heavy armor. Also, the older method of mapping out an unknown area disappeared, and the HUD is also missing. I relied heavily on those; I have to waste a lot of time in some cramped areas, playing through it again and again because it is very, very confusing to learn my way around. One wall looked like the next; openings were hard to discern; it was impossible to just blast through walls (which was a feature in other cramped spaces in past AC games); and the scan feature didn’t make it easier by illuminating/mapping doorways or exits. The markers were of limited value. As I turn, the markers move, so fixing their position was difficult for me. The HUD immediately told me if they were up, down, left or right. I missed that dearly. AC6 is fast and loose; flashy but a tad unrealistic. There was a given logic in other games that I couldn’t find here. Some weapons are actually useless; some are good in very unique circumstances. Though there were maybe a dozen great weapons, most of the inventory is just a waste of space. I relied on a dozen or so (after going to NG+ and NG++) exclusively. I guess what bothered me the most about this game (which I enjoyed, overall) is that it limited me and FORCED me to play in a given style in order to be successful. I like sniper rifles and FCS parts that allowed me to shoot from far away. I also like weighing myself down in heavy armor and hard-hitting ordinance and then slamming my opponents with a very satisfying smack down. Here in AC6, I just… adapted. I was told when the shot was coming my way (usually) and I had an automatic “hard lock” on my opponent, so… it was about learning the timing and finding an effective weapon combo that worked for me. The story was much better than other AC games of the past; however, I think they could have done a better job with choices and pathways; a more convoluted branching and the ability to change sides from one faction to the next would have been more realistic and offered many more optional bosses and circumstances. Once you took a given mission early in AC6, you were on a path you couldn’t leave. Future choices were automatically swept away. Yes, playing through three times answered the “what if’s”, but I think it would have been better if new enemies and new parts and etc. were all available and moved around in the successive games, in order to keep the game and the plot fresh and lively. There’s a lot more I could ramble on about, but the music… ah man, the music in the first few AC games was awesome! I would have loved it if the older tracks were played during missions. This game seemed sort of… lacking here. The commentary from other pilots was distracting; the pulsing vibes from the old soundtracks was invigorating!

Jesus christ, do you have the navigational skills of a dementia ridden vegetable? The levels are so extremely linear, you have to go out of your way to get lost in them. Also, the choice of missions dont matter until the last section of the game when you pick between eleminating carla, or fighting off arquebus, or optionally, killing snail early if you want to do the secret ending by taking a left half a chapter earlier. Youre getting caught up in nostalgia over things you remember being the way they are, and comparing them to something completely and totally different. Youre take on the music was 100% subjective, if the music wasnt for you, than so be it, just dont act like its the game's fault for not matching your head cannon of what an armored core game sounds like.

You should make an 8 minute version of this video as more people would watch it.

I think the movement feels great but the lock on mechanic works poorly, making dodging two dimensional. I like hard lock because I prefer a controller and can’t control flight, quick boosting, and managing 4 different weapon types and turn the stick. Carpal tunnel no thanks. However simply strafing or spamming quick boost was never enough to dodge attacks in the past. Now it’s turn faster than the bullets can keep up with or stay just out reach the whole time. Or be so heavy with such high punish assault boosting is the only thing you have to do. Especially with the range on the shotguns

I called AC6 the best for new players cause most people of gaming of today is not the same as before. As a lot of new gamers don't want to put effort in games, now. It depressed me how Armored Core became cause of the newer gamers.

Hopefully AC6 is only an introduction to new fans to revive this series, where the next one onward is where they would return to the traditional AC gameplay.

I hope they got back to the old style of AC. Using this game as, like a form of easy first steps for new players like my self before putting us in the big pool. So-to-speak. (Edit) i think hard lock is a necisary evil. But only in PvE. Hard lock should not be accessible in PvP. Hard lock PvE is nessicary because of the age of armored core. The fanbase could be comsidered a endangered species by the time armored core 6 was revealed. Fromsoft HAD to get new fans to come and STAY, and overloading them with data and hardship wasn't the way to go. If they didn’t do this armored core 6 would be as widespread as it is now. We can only hope they take off the training wheels for the next game.

I hope they double down on this, so old armored core fans can continue to whine about it.
